Invisible?

I've got nothing to say*

Yesterday was my last day at my internship, and goddamnit, if I could network and socialize like I did yesterday when I was saying goodbye... I had lunch with my supervisor and the rest of my team (I was part of a team, yo, although that was more administrative than anything) and then ran around having coffee with different people and basically feeling like:

Today was Day 1 of freeeeeedom (a.k.a. unemployment) and tomorrow I'm off to Barcelona. I'll be back in a week with snazzy things (I will get books) and food, and then I'll continue this mad socializing things. There's a lot of stuff I need to do for that, stuff to get together and the likes, but I'm all headachey and I just managed to clean up the mad amounts of tabs I had open.

I seem to have gone from the saddest little llama, wibbling everywhere, to happy (if a bit "I've got noooothing to say" hence this post). This is weird. And my relationship with my mom's improved. I don't know what's going on.

In other news, I finally watched Alice and ngh, Hatter. (Trailer)

Also I'm slowly trying to get Time 3 spruced up to post (and to send to CreateSpace) but there's been a certain lack of motivation going on. Whelp. Hopefully this week I'll get the missing scene done (it might even just be a paragraph, but writing, ugh) and then it's just a hope and a jump.

So in the fine tradition of plugging my Nanowrimo into Wordle to make a word cloud, here's evidence of just how much Crowley derailed everything: Collapse )

This week seems to be the week of Good and Rarely-Had Food, considering yesterday's the chocolate mousse, huevos rancheros (fried eggs and fried corn flour tortillas? Heaven!) Plus, Dad brought home tamales this week because his office got together and ordered some made. I haven't had tamales since what was probably the last century, and these were alright. What I really miss from Mexico - apart from the deliscious sandwiches they made at my school shop and Pelón Pelo Rico - are falutas. Oh gods, what I wouldn't do for one of those... Today we continued the food trend with roast lamb, which is something we'd usually have in the summers in Spain and I'd wait for every year. Wee little lamb ribs are so deliscious! I don't care how cute they are!

In other - more international - news, Egypt is happening. In the more personal - potentially selfish - news version of this, because Egypt is happening, and other countries are also happening, the project I was working on - that job I had - has been cancelled. I'm going to get paid for January, but that's it. Back to the dead-end internship. *tries to kick self in the pants and get a move on with the job hunt* *fails miserably*

Yesterday I watched my first ever episode of Private Practice. I'd been seeing the promo for the episode all week for 4x7 and thought, well damn, that much drama has to be seen. I was a bit sad to see that Tim Daly wasn't as astoundingly hot as I remembered him from the Grey's Anatomy episodes 3x22-23 (but then, it's been 3 years). I mean, look at this sexy thing! Collapse )

Well, the episode was good and dramatic and all that jazz but I stopped caring for a good long while because all I could do was flail and point and squee things that sounded like "Nicholas Brendon!" and "Xander!" Oh, it was so good to see him on the screen again! I haven't seen Nicholas in anything since Buffy ended, and it was so strange to see him even more grown up - where those grey hairs?!? Plus, it was absolutely delicious to see him be evil. I had a massive crush on Xander in early Buffy (well, until Angel swept me off my feet with the brooding angst). It was 1x06 The Pack that really kick-started the mad squee. (Even though it also peeved me the hell off because hyena packs are matriarchies and the males run away in terror from the females.) Even way back in 1997, I had a thing for lanky evil guys. Just look at the sexy! Collapse )

Curious Sickle Fact: I always thought Nicholas Brendon looked a lot like Raine Maida (of the band Our Lady Peace), although this might have been influenced by my learning of the two's existence at the same time. However, the best evidence I can offer: Collapse )

Heave away, me jollies*

Sickle's Brain Went Buh-Bye, Have Some Bullet Points Instead:

  • I got the first quote over on ljdq's Answers. Whoot whoot!

  • I've had sea shanties stuck in my head for ages, which is both awesome and annoying because I don't actually know the whole songs. So I've been humming bits of Lukey's Boat, Heave Away, Ramblin' Rover and Donkey Riding over and over again.

  • On that topic, Great Big Sea ♥ I watch ed them live years ago, and I loved it. (Or I would have, but I was in the deepest state of depressed funk that whole summer because I'd failed a course.)

  • I watched The Walking Dead last week (1x02) and while it was good, it didn't have the same shiny coating of awesomeness that the pilot did. Plus, it didn't help that I facepalmed at a little plot and science (yes! science! with zombies!) fail. Collapse )

Nanowrimo 2010:

  • A few days ago I realized that my brain was going "Omg, argh, this sucks!" at Nanowrimo 2010, which was dispiriting because its perception of Nanowrimo 2009 was, "Omg, so organized, it flows so well and argh! Will never be repeated!" but then I saw that whilst I was doing Nanowrimo 2009, my brain was going, "omg, argh, this sucks!" So I guess I'm comforted by the utter suckitude of Nanowrimo 2010. It probably doesn't suck royally (just slightly). It might even make sense in the end!

  • Today's writing session was not so much like pulling teeth and a lot more like bashing my head repeatedly against a wall for the most part. I went back and added to the scenes I'd written yesterday, except one was Icarus, Chip and Dean talking and they didn't actually say all that much except angst and Dean wasn't being a hunter enough, and the other scene was Kezef being all ooooh, evil, but nothing was happening. I tried to fix it and I don't know if I succeded because of the massive amounts of SUCK but it's goddamn over.

  • Next up: Zombie hordes attack! ...this scares me a little, because it's all action with some plottyness on the side plus a reveal and then a panic moment. I do believe we're reaching the big plotty climax from which everything winds down. It's like I have a plot!

No alarms and no surprises please.*

Nano is getting a bit better. I zoomed through most of Chip's afternoon instead of detailing it, which was a huge relief, although the patrol bit was a bit of an uphill struggle. It was necessary, though, to get the whole Kryptonite! Reverse kryptonite! effect, but ye gods, did it hurt to get on paper. Now I've got a lovely Icarus and Chip scene, which is going to be angst, angst, angst. (And possibly snogging, I'm not sure.) And then it's just a hop and a skip away from the infected invasion from hell and Kezef! \o/

You and I may not see the same color red as red*

I watched the pilot of The Walking Dead, whose poster I'd been seeing everywhere on the metro and thought was a zombie movie but is instead a zombie tv show which means zombies every week which is FTW. I liked it so far - it helps that the lead a) wears a sheriff uniform, b) was the "to me, you are perfect" character from Love, Actually and c) has an adorable accent of adorableness. I also like that it's quiet - some shots just go on and on showing you the world and you can't hear a thing. One thing I loved? Collapse )

I've also got a meeting or interview tomorrow with Person from Organization (not to be confused with Person from the same Organization) about possibly doing something with them in something related to the environment. This is all I know about the interview - which I learnt about today - because this is more of a meet-and-greet, "hey, I know that person who knows you" thing thank anything. I should be squeeful or fearful but I'm feeling a bit like Sam at the moment, in that I'm not feeling very much at all.

Nanowrimo: Feeling rather burnt out from writing, feeling like nothing's happening despite a lot of things happening, and that I'm just fudging it. Chip even had a panic attack which did nothing to advance the plot, and the Agatha showed off some mad skillz, yo, which at most will be a detail. But I think what's up next is a quick night patrol, a snuggle, then zoom zoom skip to the next evening.

You've made me so very happy*

Things That Make Sickle Happy:

- tracy being a complete and absolute darling and sending me the audio for The End's commentary. ♥

- heidi8 sent me an LJ gift as a token of appreciation for my Devour review. I'm still a-glee over it :D

- I've taken to watching Never Mind the Buzzcocks on YouTube because laughter is flippin' addictive. I particularly enjoyed 21x07 because it had Martin Freeman (ye future Hobbit) and Matthew Horne of The Catherine Tate Show. Part 2 has them staring off each other in a sigh-contest. A favorite is also 21x01 because of Jessica Hynes.

- The joyful comments on the Devour commentary ♥

- Setting a Nanowrimo calendar as my desktop. Well, this doesn't so much make me happy as super excited and somewhat terrified. Yays?

In other news, my parents should've landed by now, so they'll be home in a couple of hours. I'm zooming off to Spain tomorrow afternoon - back Wednesday night - so there's that. Oh, and I might get to snuggle seschat in person, which would be fantastic.

I haven't worked on that fic I've got half-written at all, but I did make a fanmix. I particularly think that Through Glass is Sam's theme song for Season 6.
