Instead of Just Arbitrarily Making Stuff...

I'd like to know what YOU want for your Winter Holiday this year! :D

What kinds of art, beaded jewelry, polymer clay, felt creations, or other crafty concoctions would people like to see for the holidays?
..A gaunt & grinning goblin, masquerading as old Saint Nick maybe? Or a faerie gala, gleefully gathered 'round a bountiful feast perhaps? Seomthing delightful yet ghoulish, with everything from veggies to sundry severed parts; like the remains of fool-hardy human to fickle, feathered foul..?

What do YOU seek to give or receive over the holidays..?

Is this place alive?

My stuff for trades. Make offers.

Pigeon egg EDIT: small crack... damnit. :(
Thought someone who carved eggs might like a challenge...

Bag worm cocoons
All are intact except the far right, you can see the hole in the pic.

Bag: goose feathers
Cleaning the ends is easy- do it dry, the skin/fat just peels right off with the help of a blade.
pic here $10 for the large feathers (they are STUFFED in there, lots of feathers)

Goose "quills"- small or broke
These were peeled clean, shaven, sanded twice, and cleaned in Dawn.

Goose "quills"- medium
These were peeled clean, shaven, sanded twice, and cleaned in Dawn.

Goose "quills"- long
These were peeled clean, shaven, sanded twice, and cleaned in Dawn.

Frizzle rooster feathers- long/perfect
These truly are one of a kind (unless you happen to breed frizzles...) feathers. From this guy here.

Frizzle rooster feathers- imperfect tips
These ones' tips aren't a perfect point and were broken off before I found them (or were a result of him accidentally jumping into that bucket of water...). Two are just real small- possibly from his neck instead.

Pheasant feathers 1
Half of a sandwhich bag

Pheasant feathers 2
Don't ask me why they're seperated from baggy #1... probably cause from a different part of the body/different type of feather? I did it for a reason but now I can't remember why exactly. These are in a quart bag, but I bet could make one single FULL/STUFFED sandwhich bag.

Chicken feathers- "lower back of neck"
All these black feathers have a beautiful green-shine. The ones with a golden fringe seem to have less of a sheen and more of an opaque color, but there's still a slight green to them too. Sandwhich bag- full.
pic here

Chicken feathers- "tail"
Thicker than the neck with a nice curl, green shine. Very nice "fuzzy" base. Full sandwhich bag.
pic here

Chicken feathers- "neck"
Somewhat "pointy" nearly all of these have a gorgeous golden fringe and green shine to the black area. Sandwhich bag full.
pic here

Chicken feathers- "body"
These run the range that the other bags offer- some are pure black with green shine, others have a gold fringe, some are very sleek, while others are VERY fuzzy at the base. Gallon sized bag- 3/4th full.

Know any queer rural zines? x-post (if this doesn't belong/breaks rules, sorry; tell me&I'll delete)

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but my friend Jenna (a.k.a. trashcan_chica) needs some help:

"does anyone know of any queer zines about living in rural areas or going to rural areas?

any help/pointing in the right direction would be amazing. i went through the whole Queer Zine Archive and couldn't really find anything.

thanks!
jenna b

p.s. i just got a wordpress site, sassyfrasscircus.com!"

Her (AIM) away message also says: "is looking for zines about/by members of radical queer ANTI-URBAN communities, so if you know of any..."

So please comment if you can help at all; thanks. :]

(no subject)

Now that I finally have a job/art/sleep schedule within the realm of sanity, I'd like to ease back into swapping...

I'm looking for a couple people who'd like to trade Halloween candy or autumn treats like pumpkin cookies, cocoa packets, etc. for 2-disc mixes of dark, Halloween-appropriate music - think atmospheric soundscapes with artists like Lustmord, Whitehouse, Mandible Chatter, The Unquiet Void, etc. more than "The Monster Mash" or even stuff like My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. (If you don't like/want weird, possibly unsettling music, this swap is probably not for you!) You send edible treats (candy, etc.), I send audible treats (mixes). Hoorays!

The only "treat" I really don't want to get is black licorice... otherwise, whatever/how much a kid could collect in his pillowcase or bucket on a loop around the block would be dandy.

Can do this with two, maybe three people. Cross-posting to swap-bot.com and _wantlists.

just a reminder from your founder and mod

Please read the community guidelines before posting! If we have to reject your posts repeatedly, you will be bumped from the community. No monetary sales. None! Please!

Looking for and Offering

Hey all, I joined bazaar_o a few weeks and only now had a chance to post.

I'm offering to trade the following: beer bottle caps (i have thousands), soda can tabs, odd metal screws, bolts etc.., used batteries of varying sizes, handmade paper art in any form...basically i have a lot of weird crap that the average person wouldn't think to use for art, but I know all ya'll will.

I'm looking for extremely old ephemera such as old bible pages (foreign language especially), maps, old (pre 1950's) instructions to clocks watches and wind up toys, feathers, small fossils and.or random bones (not common stuff like chicken bones please), handmade masks, steampunk-esque bottles, goggles and/or doo-dads, old letters, used stamps from all over the world.

I'm st0lenpony on swap-bot, if you want to check out my ratings/reliability.

Thanks!

if you are in/near Portland, Oregon...

...this may be of interest to you: SCRAP has opened registration for this year's Iron Artist competition. From their newsletter:

"This high-energy celebration of creative reuse is a large-scale sculpt-off competition involving teams of local artists, rowdy referees, celebrity judges, live music, kid's activities, merriment and of course, mayhem! We describe Iron Artist as "one part Iron Chef and one part Junk Yard Wars." Teams have three hours to complete a sculpture using only the materials and theme provided.

The Iron Artist competition will be held the second weekend in September, 2008 in inner SE Portland at 2nd & Main. This is an all-ages, family-friendly event open to the public. Join us for food and beverage, local entertainment all weekend and get a better look at the fun world of reuse!"
