Singapore 2014: [Alicenine] - Supernova Symphonia at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Sentosa
busy busy weekend! first up was the Alicenine live at Sentosa on Saturday! damn friggin long and humid wait for the photo-taking session, which we ended up in the last segment and gosh it was somewhat nerve-wracking and embarrassing! we were told to queue up at the side of the room as Shou and Hiroto sat down in front with an empty seat between them, while Tora, Nao and Saga stood L->R respectively. honestly it felt like taking school graduation photos; i slid up with a meek "onegaishimasu..." and Shou went fufufu~! sat down and clutched my folded muffler-towel and just stared ahead with an awkward smile haha! two shots from the photographer later, we got shoo-ed out and then received our autographed posters yay! exceptional value from just one VIP ticket! XD
the area segregated for the VIP holders was really very near the stage, but still we took the furthest back at the barricade section cos both Janice and i wanted LOTS OF SPACE to headbang and go crazy haha! didn't go for the goods booth cos the queue was insane. got myself a beer to chill out and wait for the live to begin, which translated into 6 or 7 repeats of a Michael Jackson playlist blaring into the crowd.
Shou was GORGEOUS. i think i say this everytime whenever i go for any Alicenine lives but goddamnit Shou is really just GORGEOUS!!! can't quite recognize all the songs but i really just gave my all at Rainbows and Kowloon, which are their two most headbang-inducing songs of all time. at probably the second or third song, i felt something slapped my left forearm so i looked down, and saw a pick bouncing off the floor! turned out it was a pick flicked offstage by Tora! and to think that no one even realized he threw a pick off hahaha! was really happy they did Shooting Star, and i was really impressed by Shou's voice! guess the open-air venue and our humid climate really makes it easier to sing? gosh what a beautiful ballad it was indeed!
midway through the live, smell of barbeque meat wafted across the venue and i got SOOOOOO HUNGRY omgggggg. encore was pretty quick, they came back onstage and did another two songs and the live was over. a couple of drumsticks flew our way, as well as Hiroto splashing water from his bottle, and off they went poof! trooped off all sweaty, hungry and weary back to Vivocity, and went for a round of beer and sausages at Brotzeit yayyyyy!!!
wonder how long we'd need to wait till the photos are ready hee~! XD

Tokyo 2012: [Alice Nine] - Live Tour 2012 Court of "9" #4 at Kokkuritsu Yoyogi #2 Stadium
barely made the deadline for this live, but thank goodness GFC still granted me a tix! it was a countdown live on Dec 31st, my first time attending a countdown live! then again, it also means that it began really late? like at 10pm or something. i reached Harajuku at about 9pm, ate a big dinner and went on to the venue to buy some goods for a friend's sister. it was freezing cold outside so i got in as soon as i could, and made myself comfy at my seat. so comfy that i actually dozed off haha!
i've always liked Alicenine lives. they make good music, Shou is super eye-candy and their shows are always enjoyable. the countdown was memorable too, as Shou sang a beautiful folk song as soon as the clock struck midnight. the entire live lasted till 1am in the morning, and knowing that i'd have no transport back to the apartment i stayed at a hotel that night. at first i thought of joining the crowd at the Meiji-jingu nearby for the hatsumode, but it was so crowded that we were all diverted towards Shibuya direction instead. and as i walked towards the train station i saw racing cars blazing down the streets and everyone was just watching in awe and surprise! turned out that it was a filming scene for Fast and Furious omggg!!!

nope the dates aren't wrong, i am indeed backlogged for my live reports by a good two years as of today. figured that i should really put some effort to jot whatever memories i still have in my mind before they totally slip me.

Tokyo 2012: [BORN] - DAMN ROCKERS ~Higashi-Nihon Charity Event~ at Kashiwa Palooza

last weekend's Luna Sea was..... complicated. felt so different from watching them at Tokyo Dome, of course being at row 2 certainly made a world of difference. added bonus was catching Shinya's bath towel! my "childhood" heroes, could never imagined them to come to our tiny island, watching at such close proximity, and certainly brought back some unfortunate, would-rather-forget memories from the past.
a part of me was reluctant to "embrace" them again, because i knew it would trigger this reaction. i didn't feel it when i watched them in 2010, but that was probably because it was my first LS live and the hype of finally getting to watch them live overshadowed everything. but when i added their songs back to my playlist, unknowingly those unhappy memories started coming back, and i deleted all their songs and avoided anything LS as much as possible. but the memories didn't go away. it also didn't help that friends around me were all kyakya about them, i was trying to "keep up" with the hype but deep in my heart i was totally running in the opposite direction as far as possible.
in short, LS had represented the darkest period of my younger life. sometimes i don't think i've completely gotten over it yet, and just when i thought i've buried everything to the furthest North, it gets recalled with simply a tune. a guitar rift. a stroke of the violin. and my heart gets heavy. prior to the live i've even contemplated selling away my ticket and just avoid the entire event. but i knew i had to face it somehow. afterall, it's been years and i am no longer that young and ignorant self anymore. i needed closure.
i doubt anyone noticed, but i could feel i was noticeably much less enthusiastic than my friends. i felt a lump forming in my throat when they came onstage. the show itself was fantastic, no doubts about that. as musicians they are impeccable. that aura is in a total league of its own. but just as i have grown up, i saw that they too have aged, and as if i was released from a frozen timezone, i finally felt time whiz by, and that the past is past and it's okay not to beat myself up over them anymore. i guess, that's the closure that i needed.
what's past shall remain as the past. and so is LS. they were a part of my past, shall remain as part of my past, and i am grateful to have them as part of my past. /tonguetwister :p
now, i shall auto-tune out the surrounding hype and excitement till they die down, or i'd probably go on a long hiatus or something. unfortunately i don't moe. guy/guy just don't pop my buttons.
