On September 27th, The ArtsCenter in conjunction with the North Carolina Playwrights Alliance will present the 6th Annual PlaySlam! What exactly is the one and only, ever popular, never duplicated, totally untamed PlaySlam!? Well, the PlaySlam works something like a poetry slam with very, very, very short plays (1-3 minutes) vying for fame, fortune, and votes. Who wins? The audience decides.

ONE-NIGHT ONLY for rehearsal AND performance! That's right. ONE NIGHT ONLY! Actors and playwrights arrive at The ArtsCenter at 5:00PM on September 27th, rehearse the 1-3 minute plays and dive headlong onto the stage by 8:00PM.
Oh yes, the PlaySlam is FAST AND FURIOUS! Actors perform 12-15 round 1 plays. The audience votes for 5 finalists and those 5 playwrights advance to the 2nd round. Actors perform 5 round 2 plays and the audience votes on their #1 fave. The winning playwright takes home 100 smackaroos!
