James Wright shared thisSix years. 19 countries. One incredible journey of growth across Asia Pacific. After more than six years with Cloudian, I’m stepping into a new chapter. It’s been a defining period, building and leading the APJ business through everything from a global pandemic to supply chain challenges, geopolitical shifts and major strategic company change. What stands out most is what we achieved as a region. Together we evolved the business, expanded with NNL’s across 19 countries, and built a strong foundation with customers and partners across Asia Pacific. None of that happens without great people. To my team across Asia — thank you. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside such a talented, resilient and committed group, and I’m incredibly proud of what we built together. A sincere thank you as well to our customers, partners, distributors and service providers across the region for your trust and collaboration. I’m now looking ahead to what’s next and open to opportunities where I can help scale growth and build high-performing teams across Asia Pacific. The Annual Golf Day never disappoints! Great weather, great people, and massive donations—$137,000 was raised for multiple charities, including Ronald McDonald House Charities, Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation and @Cooper Rise Foundation. James Wright reacted on thisJames Wright reacted on thisWe don’t have a lot of taxes in Australia, the Treasurer says. The recent budget, of desperation, is not about Australian being stone broke, with a trillion dollars of debt, or introducing or changing tax laws. It’s about how to do it in a way that looks like we are helping the umm, the aaah, ummm you know. “Who would be grubby enough to change tax laws on negative gearing and CGT and pretend the reason is to ensure future housing affordability for the young, to own their own home and use this BS excuse as smokescreen to raise cash” What type of people would do that? No one could be that low, no one could do that, you would assume, unless of course the government is so cash desperate it’s got no choice. No way you could do that, because anyone with a sound mind, could see through that BS, for what it really is. We are also told in the same breath, we have less taxes than any other country. Oh yeah let’s: FACT CHECK THAT AUSTRALIA DOESNT HAVE MANY TAXES.

For a country that should be encouraging innovation, investment and growth, this feels like the opposite. Yes, there are small business concessions. But many of the thresholds are now so low they actually become a disincentive to grow. You end up creating a system where staying small is rewarded more than scaling. And that matters because large businesses are the ones that create significant employment, invest heavily, take risks and build industries. At a time when AI is already going to reshape jobs dramatically over the next decade, Australia should be focused on attracting investment and backing entrepreneurs, not making growth harder. I think a lot of people still underestimate what’s coming with AI. Combine that with policies that discourage investment and business expansion, and we could be heading into some very challenging times

James Wright liked thisJames Wright liked thisFarewell Melbourne! As we prepare for our move to Qld in the next few days, it is with mixed emotions I farewell my home town of almost 60 years. I know we will be regular visitors in the future, but as we leave, I have to recognise the wretched state of our once great city and state and it saddens me as we make the move. I implore each and every Victorian to ask themselves how they can make things better in the future. Volunteer at your kids sport, offer to help someone who needs assistance, stand up against poor behaviour and most of all, don't accept the dishonesty and deception we have been faced with in Spring Street. Victoria deserves better in the future than what we have seen over the last decade or so. I will always love Melbourne, the Sport, the Theatre, the Coffee, the G and most of all the people. This is not goodbye, but a farewell to my home city, something I really never thought possible only a decade or so ago, Cheers, Michael

James Wright liked thisJames Wright liked thisIt’s a big sell to anyone in any part of life to say ‘ I’m categorically Not going to do something’ and then completely betray your statement. If your CEO said ‘zero redundancies, guaranteed bonuses’ and then reneged people would either leave or stop contributing. If you told your client there would be absolutely no changes to pricing for 12 months and then backtracked they would plot to leave you. There are three live examples in the Tech sector as we speak. So, what price Trust? The hubris of this federal government’s budget is astounding if it thinks that future persuasion, or the passage of time will assuage the feelings of betrayal and mistrust. The paternalistic so-called ‘Greater good’ pitch won’t cut it. It’s not how human beings buy. #sales #budget2026 #trust #persuasion

James Wright reacted on thisJames Wright reacted on thisThe Victorian budget drops today. Jacinta Allan and the Victorian Labor party says the state is in surplus. cue fireworks. Lets frame the actual finances. Imagine a family earning $100,000 a year. They owe $200,000. Not on a mortgage. Not on an asset that grows. On an Amex. A high-rate, high-fee Amex. Without the points. This year they spent $120,000. $20,000 more than they earned. Every dollar of the gap went straight onto the card. Interest is compounding. The minimum repayment is growing. The credit limit is the only thing keeping the household alive. But when you ask how the finances are going, the answer is: "Actually, we are doing great, we're up $700 this year." How? Because they decided the kitchen renovation they just financed will last 350 years. So they're only counting a fraction of it as this year's cost. The bank calls that fraud. The ATO calls it creative accounting. A normal person calls it a lie. That family is Victoria. $170 billion in net debt. $10 billion cash deficit this year. A "$700 million surplus" built on accounting assumptions no private entity would be allowed to use. oh, and that's only $9.3Billion short of paying the interest bill. Jacinta Allan will stand at a podium today and call this responsible financial management. If a CFO presenting these numbers in a board meeting, they wouldn't be allowed to finish their sentence. This isn't spin. This is a government that has redesigned the language of accounting so Victorians can't tell they're being robbed. No points. No asset. No plan. Just the bill.

James Wright liked this🚨 Is it just me, or did the path to building a business in Australia just get a lot steeper? SMB/SME's are the backbone of this country... accounting for 99.8% of businesses... Most people see the "exit" of a successful startup, but they don't see the years of taking a sub-market salary, the personal financial risk, and the endless R&D. The 50% CGT discount is not a "loophole." It is a recognition of that sacrifice. By considering a cut to this discount, we are not just taxing "wealth." We are taxing the ambition of the small business owners and entrepreneurs who are building the future of our economy. Beyond the founders, this hits our ability to attract talent. We rely on equity to compete with big-tech salaries, but if we tax that upside at full rates, we lose our best tool for recruiting the brightest minds. Similarly, if we make the risk-return profile unattractive for local investors, we risk driving vital capital toward offshore markets. If we want to be a global leader in AI, GreenTech, and SaaS, we cannot make it harder for founders to succeed here than it is in Singapore or the US. I would love to hear from other founders: how would a change to the CGT discount impact your long-term strategy?
