What stood out wasn’t hype, it was commitment: - A$25B investment into Australia’s AI and cloud infrastructure - AI skilling for 3 million Australians But the reality check was just as important: - 55% of organisations are still experimenting - 38% are progressing, but not yet scaling - Only 6% are “front-runners” (just 1% advanced) The gap is clear and ambition is outpacing execution. The real challenge now isn’t access to AI. It’s embedding it meaningfully across the business. #AI #MicrosoftAITour #AITransformation

AI-powered toys are everywhere right now… but advocacy groups are urging parents to avoid many of them due to safety and privacy concerns (as reported by ABC News last week.) As AI moves into children’s products, smart home devices, personal health tools and everyday apps, one thing is becoming very clear: The warnings highlight risks such as: • Unclear or inconsistent safety standards • Data collection on children without transparency • AI-generated conversations that may be unsafe or inappropriate • Manufacturers unable to explain how their AI systems actually behave And this isn’t really about toys, it’s a signal for every organisation building or deploying AI. Heidi Mir posted thisI was listening to a recent episode of Hard Fork where writer A.J. Jacobs talked about trying to live 48 hours without AI. Not just without ChatGPT, but without any technology that uses artificial intelligence. He quickly realised that meant… no Google Maps, no Netflix, no Spotify, no Uber. Even his phone’s face unlock, Gmail’s spam filter, and the city’s traffic lights were off-limits. At one point he found out the New York tree census uses image recognition, so even walking down the street wasn’t entirely AI-free. It made me think about how deeply AI is already woven into our daily lives, often in ways we don’t even notice. And when it disappears, how much slower, more disconnected, and strangely… quieter life becomes. It wasn’t an anti-AI story. It was a reminder that AI is no longer a “tool we use”, it’s a system we live inside of. The question is no longer “how do we use AI?” It’s “how do we stay conscious of it?” What would be hardest for you to give up if you tried living 48 hours without AI?

Heidi Mir shared thisThe recent Governance Institute of Australia’s 2025 AI Deployment & Governance Survey found that: - 88 % of organisations struggle to integrate generative AI into legacy systems - Only 10 % hold advanced AI qualifications, while 46 % have no AI training - 93 % can’t effectively measure AI ROI These numbers don’t reflect a shortage of tools, they reflect a shortage of enablement. Integration isn’t just about systems. It’s about culture, confidence, and capability. When people don’t understand AI, can’t measure its value, or aren’t empowered to experiment safely, transformation stalls. That means building the human infrastructure around AI: - Training that empowers every employee, not just technologists - Governance frameworks that balance risk with experimentation - Leadership mindsets that treat AI as a capability uplift, not a cost-saving exercise The real differentiator won’t be algorithms, but how well we enable our people to move with them. https://lnkd.in/gq9-BgzH

New #Insights from #KPMG's #GlobalAI in #Finance research show that most value is not coming from automating tasks, but from better decisions..... The 2026 report examines where those gains are coming from and what’s driving them. The findings are based on a survey of 1,013 senior finance leaders across 13 sectors and 20 countries. It builds on our 2024 research on AI in financial reporting, expanding the focus to the full finance function - including governance, controls, and the workforce. Three findings stand out: 🔷 AI delivers the biggest gains in judgment‑heavy areas — especially planning, forecasting, commercial analysis and risk. AI is acting as a decision engine, not a cost lever. 🔷 Agentic AI is widening the gap. Organizations orchestrating AI across end‑to‑end finance decisions outperform others, particularly on forecast accuracy and ROI. 🔷 Trust enables scale. Strong governance, controls and human oversight are what turn AI insight into action and sustained performance. Huge thanks to Anne-Marie Allgrove and Trudi Procter at Baker McKenzie for partnering with Mastercard Open Finance and hosting such a thoughtful and well‑curated event, and to Open Finance ANZ and Women in Open Banking ANZ for the community they continue to build. 🎤 The conversations in our panel that included Melanie Cochrane, Courtney Sloane and Marina Berberic moved beyond compliance and policy to action - focusing on trust, execution, innovation at scale, and the role leaders play in translating CDR into value. 🏄♀️ Thank you to Dr Scott Farrell, Chair of the Data Standards Advisory Committee, for the opening remarks and for setting the tone. What’s really struck me is how much the conversation has shifted. The challenge for most organisations isn’t access to AI — it’s cutting through the noise, knowing where to focus, managing risk, and most importantly, driving real adoption. What I’ve genuinely valued in these partner sessions is hearing real-world use cases — not just the vision, but how organisations are actually applying AI today and where it’s delivering meaningful value. The pace of change across the industry is incredible. At Ventia, we’re focused on embedding AI into the fabric of how we work — in a way that improves experiences for our customers, our people, and the communities we serve. The opportunity is huge. But so is the complexity.

Heidi Mir liked thisHeidi Mir liked thisA fantastic way to kick off our national KPMG Australia Audit Committee Institute roundtable series, exploring the implications of artificial intelligence for Boards and Australian organisations with an engaged group of Non‑Executive Directors in Sydney. Together with Nicholas Davis from the UTS Human Technology Institute, our conversation focused on the challenges directors face as AI adoption accelerates: heightened regulatory and litigation scrutiny; a constantly shifting risk environment, including with the growth in agentic AI; techno deference / cognitive offloading in an AI-enabled work environment; how to measure ROI; and the evolution of governance frameworks as we adapt to AI operating at scale. We discussed practical ways boards can respond, including improving visibility over AI use, closing the gap between adoption and governance maturity, and sharpening the questions directors need to ask executive teams around risk, value and accountability. Heidi Mir liked thisHeidi Mir liked thisI presented at Microsoft AI tour yesterday sharing Bupa Australia AI journey. One moment still stands out for me that I shared with the audience. I showed a simple GenAI tool my team build to a carer working in aged care that could read policies and answer questions instantly. The carer looked up and said, “That saves me so much time.” That’s when AI became real. Not as technology. But as something that helps people do their jobs better and deliver better care. A few reflections from our journey and my presentation. ➡️AI doesn’t scale itself. Structure matters. Start with value, platform, and an operating model that can scale. ➡️Make it real by embedding AI into workflows, not demos. ➡️Responsible AI isn’t a blocker. It’s what enables you to move faster with confidence. ➡️People Capability is the multiplier. Adoption is what drives impact. ➡️We’re now moving into the next phase. From assist to do. But agentic AI only works where safety, control, and accountability are clear. If you’re starting out: ⭐️Pick one high-friction workflow. ⭐️Measure outcomes. ⭐️Scale what works.
