What if Elrond had possession of the One Ring at the end of the battle?
Gil-Galad dies, of course, as well as Elendil. But for some reason, Elrond comes into poseesion of the One Ring instead of Isildur. Would there be a possibility that he would have been swayed by the One Ring? What would that possibility be? (or would there be none at all?) This is an idea I've pondered for a long while.
Imagine that all other canon factors are still in place. Answer with whatever you think might have happened, but try not to carry it out too far -- leave some room for someone to add on.
