We believe privacy is a fundamental right. At Atomic Chat, we prioritize it at every level — from architecture to policy. This document explains clearly what data is or is not collected when you use Atomic Chat.

1. Our Principles

Local-first privacy. All AI inference happens on your machine. No conversation data is ever transmitted anywhere.

No hidden motives. We have no advertising business model. If we store any data, we are transparent about why.

Open source verification. You can audit the entire codebase on GitHub to confirm our privacy claims independently.

Honest about limitations. Absolute privacy is impossible, but we strive to be transparent about what we can and cannot guarantee.

2. Website Visits

When you visit our website, we may automatically process the following information:

• IP address — used for troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
• Browser and OS information — ensures the site displays correctly on your device.
• Browser language — used to display content in your preferred language.
• Location (based on IP), date, and time — helps evaluate the effectiveness of our outreach.
• Referral source — allows us to assess the success of SEO and outreach activities.
• Clicked links and visited pages — helps us understand how the website serves visitors.

Basic log data (user agents, visited pages, IP addresses, timestamps) is retained for up to 7 days before deletion. Aggregated and anonymous analytics may be processed using a self-hosted tool to understand usage trends.

3. The Application — No Data Collected

Atomic Chat is a local AI chat application. All inference runs on your machine using models you download. We do not collect, log, store, or transmit:

• Your conversations or chat history
• Prompts or AI-generated outputs
• Your name, email address, or any contact information
• Device identifiers or IP addresses from within the app
• Usage analytics or telemetry from within the app
• Crash reports or error logs

The application works entirely offline after models are downloaded. No account, sign-up, or subscription is required to use Atomic Chat.

4. Model Downloads

When you download an AI model through Atomic Chat, the request is made directly from your device to the model host (such as Hugging Face or our GitHub releases). Standard network request information — such as IP address and user agent — may be logged by those third-party services according to their own privacy policies. We do not see or store these requests on our end.

5. Early Access and Email Communications

If you voluntarily provide your email address to receive early access notifications or product updates, we store it securely and use it solely to send you the information you requested. We do not sell, share, or disclose your email address to any third party.

You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or contacting us via Discord or X.

6. No Tracking or Advertising

Atomic Chat is a completely ad-free product. We do not collect or share any data with third parties for advertising or tracking purposes. Cookies on our website are used only to enhance your browsing experience and understand how the site is used — never for profiling.

7. Data Protection

For the limited data we do process (website visits, support requests), we apply appropriate technical and organizational security measures:

• Technical measures: TLS encryption for data in transit, secure storage, and strict access controls.
• Organizational measures: Access is restricted to authorized personnel who are bound by confidentiality obligations and strict security protocols.

8. Compliance with Legal Requests

We respect your privacy and comply with legal obligations. If we receive a request from judicial authorities to hand over information, our legal counsel will review the validity of the request. We will only comply if we are legally obligated to do so. We do not cooperate with voluntary surveillance programs of any kind.

9. Third-Party Requests

We do not disclose user data to private third parties without a valid court order from the applicable jurisdiction.

10. Open Source Transparency

Atomic Chat is fully open source. You can review the complete source code on GitHub to independently verify that no data collection mechanisms are present in the application.

11. Children's Privacy

Atomic Chat is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. If changes significantly affect your privacy, we will provide a more prominent notice. Continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
