"School 2021" follows the life and growth of students at a vocational high school, including Gong Ki-Joon (Kim Yo-Han) and Jin Ji-Won.
Gong Ki-Joon was once a taekwondo player and he won the bronze medal at the National Athletics Competition, but he had a serious ankle injury. Around this time, his father's business went bankrupt. Gong Ki-Joon quit taekwondo and he entered the vocational high school. He has a mature personality for his age, but he doesn't know what do in front girls he likes.

- Ep.1 air date was originally scheduled to air November 17, 2021, but was changed to November 24, 2021. An extra tested positive for COVID-19 on November 13, 2021, causing all staff and cast to be given tests. Actor Kim Yo-Han tested positive, hence the delay in broadcasting ep.1.

Jung Ah Jung Feb 01 2026 1:58 pm I saw School 2013 first. Then, Who Are You: School 2015. They are both very good. Later I saw School 2017 which I didn't think was so great. I would recommend, Hi School: Love On, too. It could be hard to watch when you see Kim Sae Ron, but it's definitely good. I had seen her first in The Queen's Classroom. That was the first K-drama I ever saw and still one of my absolute favorite K-dramas!! School 2021, I still haven't seen. IDK if it would even be worth it after seeing some of these comments.*** And just to let people know... I had thought that School 1, 2, 3, and 4 were from so far back that I would probably never be able to see them. If anyone is interested, all of them are on Kocowa. For me, they are all so good!!

and i think yohän acting skill is still stiff he cannot deliver the scene that well, and i agree with other people that his mouth shape is kinda weird.... it's like he always keep his lips open??? ?
good job for other actors esp i really like both FL. i hope KBS can give me another school series that i can enjoy and worth to rewatch

The story and acting is superb.Anyhow this is really underrated drama which deserves much fame. I will recommend this hidden gem to all korean drama fans!!! I will miss Nulji school! LOL!!!

fair opinion Jul 01 2023 9:22 pm imo kbs 1 or 2 are the best kdrmas producers for the most part they always score high tv ratings like 20s to 30% so judging by the ratings this drama was a total disaster for them there was no audience for this drama or better maybe koreans are not ready for this type of dramas just yet as far as for me i always look for dramas that have above 20% and dont watch dramas that have less than that so am gonna pass this up feel so sorry for kbs because they are really good

I don't really find any chemistry with Yohan and Yi Hyun(even their characters) add up the acting skills of Yohan(sorry not sorry). but I enjoyed watching Ji Ho Sung and Eun Bi tho.

It's very well-written. I love the leads also. Ki-Joon and Ji-Won has undeniable chemistry and too cute. I have been on KDrama hiatus for years and this is a nice comeback KDrama for me. Watched this after ALL OF US ARE DEAD since I love Prez Nam-Ra there. Fighting! Yo-Han is so handsome <333

Aichan Jan 18 2022 3:37 pm Ep 1 was slow but after that it got really good. I liked the chemistry between the main characters Ki joon and Ji won. They are sweet and innocent, exemplifying first love. Perhaps some prefer the cold bad boy image with a soft heart and others prefer the silly innocent boy so it affects how they appreciate the drama.
The story becomes really meaningful from mid season onwards— focusing in the struggles of youth and how they pull through it.

My favorite character is Kand Seo young. She's so charismatic and so beautiful. It's just a drama I know but in real life there's no way Young Joo wouldn't fall in love with her but with Jiwon instead.

But I have to say that I like the chemistry of Young Joo and Ji Won more than the male lead. I find that character of Ki Joon is so dull and exhaustingly plain. Nevertheless, congratulations to all the rookie artists who made this drama possible.

He's completely blind only trusting his small brain doesn't even try to see anything else. clai Dec 09 2021 9:17 pm i'm having a really big expectation in this drama since i've been waiting for it since last year,school 2017 have a special place in my heart so i really hope there is something big in school 2021,but when i watch it,it turns out it have a really basic plot,and moreover it has the same plot as school 2017,three friends, one dies and the two other blame each other and hate each other. The first episode was so boring to me i skipped a lot of parts,but the other next episode i find this drama interesting,it's a calming drama,although it have a really basic plot,But Ya'll Have To Know,The Vibe and The Feel In This Drama Is Amazing,i love how calm this drama,the story was basically a regular teenage life,and i find this drama was so rare than the drama i've seen before,every character in this drama have their own story and i'm here for it,the male and female lead was soo cute,altho i hate the fact its a Freaking Love Square,but j go w the flow lol,yall gon enjoy it, And Young-Joo Was So Hot, j watch it omg it's just a really calming drama i love it sm,this is my comfort drama ngl

But after watching episode 5, i Don't know anymore because the boys are so confused right now while the girls definitely know who they like. But no matter how this end, I'll be rooting for young joo whoever he choose. but i have to admit, I replayed a lot of times Jiwon and Young joo moments 'cause young joo's little crush on jiwon is so cute! after episode 5, i felt like young joo may be seeing seo young as a friend like platonic love of some sort but let's find out in the next episodes hahaha can't wait for tonight's episode!

I know for a fact that kang seo young likes him and jin ji won likes gong ki joon. I'm watching this drama only for the second leads. (personal opinion)

Though school corruption is really unavoidable but this series is worth it to give a shot. I preferred the second love team because I'm a fan of Cheo Young Woo since Police University I love his badass aura. The main loveline story kinda boring cliché and the acting needs more workshop. I love Cho Yi Hyun when she was in Hospital Playlist I guess it depends on the role.

cinnamon Dec 02 2021 3:02 am Despite all the controversies, but i admit that this school 2021 have the same vibes as school 2013 and 2015! I love it! All the actors act good, even they have some flaws but its unnecessary~ I didnt know that im gonna love it. Been months i stopped watch on going kdrama because most of the story are too heavy, but this one make me want to watch for the next episodes! I guess im gonna catch a 2nd lead syndrome, because Youngjoo's charm are can't be resisted, too dazzling! He serve a tsundere with a soft-heart love him!!

Yuly Nov 26 2021 1:36 am The main cast and supporting cast is very adorable. Right now I'm watching a set of heavy dramas, so I love the refresh that comes with this one. Have watched 2 episodes, and can say that it does tackle deep issues, but I feel that the drama will still be bright and light-hearted. Few plotlines are repetitive, but I'm sure something new will also be added.

Although the ML is a new actor, he can really act though. I’m impressed. In fact, the FL/SML/SFL are also really good in their respective roles. Even the guy acting as HoSung is good and so funny. The plot twist at the end of ep2 tho… hinting at some real-life grave issues in SK.

But it'd still be as pure and innocent. Episode 1 looks promising for me. Hoping for a good overall story. :)

But I think that they are very consistent of casting kim yo han as main lead because he is very suited for the character kim tae-jin as because he was a taekwondo player. But of course I do really want the two to have a drama together I think they will do so well. But this drama is for my kim yo han. It wouldn't be right for someone else to take his character because kim yo han waited and wanted to take on this role. Well looking forward to this great drama!!

jsy Feb 26 2021 3:38 pm Kinda excited for this because Im a convert fan of actor Kim Yohan. He made the lead male role on ALSB actually more likeable than the original! It's hard to make a jerk-role warm and charming! The School series has always favored casting drama newbies or those with just some experience under their belt and they all and up having good careers eventually (a recent exception is Kim So hyun who was already well known when 2015 came out) so I expect to see fresh faces for 2021 as well.
And in light of recent events, I hope they don't cast anyone with a shady school past in any of the roles.

I do agree that they should not cast people based on their popularity but that is what will bring the ratings of the drama up. Honestly, I don't mind if he's casted for this because I want to know if can go beyond his comfort and show us a new side of him. Also, I don't think they will pick Kim So Hyun because she previously played in School 2015.

Ahn Seo Hyun is good too but her age is a little too young, it would be weird for the audiences to see if in a kissing scene with the male lead since she is still a minor in middle school.
Preferably someone the same age as Yohan or older would be better since Yohan looks more mature than his actual age.
