Seo In-Guk and Jang Na-Ra did well but I wished to see a little more romance from both their characters. I loved seeing Park Bo-Gum as a psychopathic lawyer, but I was a little confused at the end why it took him a year to recover. The characters in this drama did really well, but the story line was a little all over the place in some episodes. All in all I think this is a great drama if you are willing to watch something slow paced with mystery and crime. Applause to the actors.

Park Min Apr 04 2024 9:15 pm Aside from the weak introduction, the first episode also had loads of exhibitions of the ML smarts through the typical genius character stereotype, however, the drama proceeded to treat the viewers like idiots for the remainder of the drama. Initially, Detective Cha Ji An, and most of the police force, were physically capable and adequate enough, however, they suddenly became as effective and incompetent as useless civilians. The mystery and thriller elements were generally bad, the drama didn't waste a second in revealing everything immediately. The main story and entanglements of the brothers and the psycho man turned out to be disappointing and dumb, which led to a rubbish ending.

Perhaps the director No Sang Hon confused suspense and tension with boredom and tiredness. One of the worst TV series seen so far. An unbearable slowness with very ambiguous characters. The only minimally comprehensible character proved to be Ca Ji An to whom at the very least a statue in the centre of the City should be dedicated for the patience shown with Lee Hyun. Poor guy! Sorry, but this series is too bad to deserve more than rating 30. Greetings from Italy

Pearl May 08 2022 1:51 am the Bro-chemistry of Seo In-Guk & Park Bo-Gum is seriously the highlight of this drama. Both did so exceptionally well. They are like the best of lovers....both are so charming in their own ways..and the tears they shed for each other were simply surreal.

Kristine Nov 22 2021 2:47 pm I had serious problems with they depiction of how law enforcement investigates a case. The little things like the guy at the crime scene behind yellow police tape without wearing the bottles like the others. The actor playing Min, I didn’t think he had any skill after watching him in the reply series as he had no personality at all but his performance well done. Also the younger and older serial killer, the performances so good. I liked Last Empress and her performance a lot, but I realize how her roles are so similar from drama to drama which is a pity. She did fine. The little kids did fine as well. I know it’s not American but honestly the only person sort of paying for anything was the chairman’s kid with that tip to the Chinese police. No follow up on the chairman missing. No follow up on the policewoman they were trying to kill for getting him in Chinese prison. I fail to see how letting him escape helps the older policewoman’s career or why her senior would cover it up. If the professor dad was a cop whose wife was shot and kid was missing, that is not how law enforcement takes care of their own. There were two guards what happened to the other one? Again law enforcement is not going to pin it on own of their own like that and allow their kid to be miserable. Knowing Korea how did his daughter make it into the university for her to reach that rank on the job so young? Family is everything at that time for interviews for school and jobs. When his guardian is murdered no sadness whatever? I could tell that team member had something going on for episodes. But he played it well. If only the writing were better and something got resolved. We’re they hoping a sequel? Still some resolution makes sense. What happened to the kidnapped kid raised by the medical examiner who challenged him for killing his own parents years before? Why wouldn’t he admit the identity to put him away? I’m sorry but all that evidence would be electronic even then? Two pieces of paper with no copies I just don’t buy it. How on earth could that man be the medical examiner? He was on no family registry. All the breaking an entering and attempts at getting stuff on tape inadmissible. Did the writer or director know nothing about how things work in the world? I really hated the series which is a pity cause some of actors for many of the scenes performed their roles really really well.

Rose Jun 23 2021 10:41 pm I agree with a previous commenter that the female lead wasn’t necessary (I found her annoying). I wish the plot just revolved around the brothers and Joon Young. Other than that it was really well done, Park Bogum surprised me! Seo Inguk was phenomenal as well. I had fun trying to guess what would happen next and trying to understand everyone’s motives. Definitely give it a watch!

Reki Jun 14 2021 8:42 am @James. I don't know if you've watched the entire series until last episode or not, but I guess you've missed some point here. (SPOILER ALERTS)

1) I think the antagonist has an interesting back story. He was a neglected child who was constantly abused by his surroundings. He turned out to be a monster. And how does he become a doctor? There was an incident that killed Lee Joon-ho. Although it didn't clear if Lee Joon-young was the perpetrator or not, he used this moment to steal Lee Joon-ho's identity after finding out that the archive room at police station was caught on fire. 2) Lee Joon Young raises Min really well. So, it is sensible that he becomes a lawyer, right? In the last episode, Joon Young stabbed Min but avoided the vital organs so he survived. in the end, Joon Young was thinking for the best for both brothers (Min and David). He knows really well that what he did was wrong. so, he brought Min to US with the hope that David will find his little brother someday. And that's true. David found Min but Joon Young had already fled. 3) They can't catch Joon Young because he used Joon Ho's identity. The polices have no way to prove that Joon Ho is actually Joon Young. Remember that the police station was caught on fire? Back then, they didn't digitally store the personal details of the criminals. all files were burned including his fingerprint, etc.. In episode 12 or something, Im Ji Eun disclosed that she held Joon Young's original fingerprints. But then, Song Seung-Won found out about it and killed Im Ji Eun. He then get rid of paper fibers that contain Joon Young original fingerprints. that's why it is hard to prove that Joon Ho's real identity is Joon Young. 4) WEll I agree with you at this point, LOL!~~ 5) It was revealed then that Son Seung Won was one of the Joong Youn "kids".Joong Young saved Son Seung Won from his abusive parents.

James Oct 28 2020 8:28 pm I went into this with high expectations because people are giving praise on how underrated and underappreciated this drama is. Unfortunately, I'm left disappointed. I don't think they were able to maximize our main lead's acting or both are just miscast. I loved Jang Nara in Go Back Couple and Seo In Guk in Shopaholic Louis. I wasn't able to connect with the characters. After episodes 1 and 2, every episode was frustrating. Here are reasons why I hate it: (1) I don't think the antagonist had an interesting back story at all. And how the hell did he become a doctor? (2) Park Bo Gum was alright. He's handsome but he's not a good actor. How did he even become a lawyer? And what the hell happened to his character in the end? (3) Probably the worst detectives I've watched with their heavy reliance on Seo In Guk who is supposed to be just a "consultant" and also for them not being able to catch Lee Joon-Ho who lives next door (4) Almost every main character had their time in the hospital lol. (5) "Plot twist" with Son Seung-Won out of nowhere. The drama is just a big mess.

I like the storyline, unexpected and twist here and there.. keep my brain working on the storyline.. for me, the only disappointing thing was the unclear ending..

Byunxing May 09 2020 10:11 am I watched this drama because of D.O acting as a psychopath and did not expect much. Little did i know it was a drama that really got me hooked. The cast was amazing. Jang Nara and Seo In Guk's chemistry was great. It was one of the best dramas I've watched. It is very underrated. If you are contemplating on watching the drama because of its low ratings, don't! The drama was really great!

But i think this drama could have been more beautiful because in some ways its lacking good acting and i think the female main lead wasn't really necessary. Anyhow overall by psychological views you could learn much more

I love the relationship of the two brothers it so cute, and the relationship of the detectives when they work together. Seo in guk was really good actor, i hope he will have more lead roles soon, and Park Bo Gum is so awesome his facial expression was sooo great.

Monsters are really created by circumstances . PBGs acting is so creepy. He acted so well. Facial expressions tell it all. I can't imagine Bogum like this with his warm personality. He really is a great actor. The other actors did great as well. The OST are hewww will make you so sad. I just hope the ratings get more high bc it deserves to be recognized .

Like, the way Cha Ji-an is dressed in the first episode is 100% agent Lisbon. The blue suit of Lee Hyun is SOOOOOO Jane.

Their characters too are SO damns similar I'm crying.

Son Myeong-woo's expression and behaviour remind me of agent Cho.

I was so sad when The Mentalist ended I feel like I found an extension of some sort lol

rslarsli Jan 21 2019 5:28 am this drama really, really excites me. every crime cases were solved perfectly, but not too drama-perfect. every deduction, every hypothesis made absolute sense but not enough for us to immediately know who's the culprit. it left enough suspense to keep us curious.in the midst of romance dramas, this drama was a breathe of fresh air.

the characters are well played, well written too. lee hyun comes off very snobbish in the beginning but considering his past i think he's just a very closed person. lee junyeong, both old and young, really played his psycho murderer part very, very well. i still got the creeps whenever i watch him hah. cha jian character might come off as annoying, i think so too in the beginning, but as the drama continues, her real intentions were revealed, i somehow find her not that annoying after all and she's a strong character with a sad past.

all in all, i really enjoyed this drama. this is one of the dramas i can rewatch multiple times without finding it boring. some might think it's boring but give it a chance. it's a really good drama with the right amount of suspense and thrill. it really got me thinking my hats off lol. anyway, this drama is a 10/10.

Cammie Nov 21 2018 6:40 pm I’m late but I just finished this drama and for my comments... i sort of liked it. I did not really feel a lot of connection between cha ji an and lee Hyeon and i felt like it was maybe a little bit forced into the plot... But I really enjoyed the strong connection between lee Hyeon and lee min. I also tought that lee joon young/ lee joon-ho (both old and young) was a part that was played really well, and the connection between the two brothers and him i enjoyed that too. So, i enjoyed the main plot for the most part, and the acting done by in guk and bo gum D.O and won-young, but Jang Nara’s acting and character was a little bit annoying.

As for the ending, i can not lie it was not the ultimate ending i had hoped for, but i was still kind of pleasantly surprised. The joon-young was never officially caught But he did let Min live, and Min made a better life choice in the end it seemed and i enjoyed that.

The series excites me. Every episodes always a bang. Makes you eager to watch for more.

Plus the cast are good. They make this series so fun to watch.

For those who hate the ending, you guys need to understand that we cant actually expect a 'real' happy ending for the brothers just because their relationship is cute since there is a moral value that the writer needs to uphold in her writing. No matter what the reasons are, Min remains a serial killer that has killed many people despite no one can actually prove it since they can never get the evidence for his murders as his crimes are perfect. But the truth remains that he is a murderer. Despite that Hyeon can never send him over to the police no matter how righteous he is, fact remains that Cha Ji An and the squad will never rest until they capture him since they cant just turn a blind eye to Min's crime just because they like him. There can never be a happy ending for the 3 of them no matter how much we wish for it.

Because of this, the writer gave us the best happy ending that she could give to us which is an open ended one. At the end, it shows that Min chose to be his hyung's brother instead of some nameless person (envelope for new identity that he got from Lee Joonyoung is left on his bed). In a way, it showed how he chose to be himself and owned up to his crimes (his smile at the end explained many things). But where he goes when he leave the hospital, it is up to our interpretation. For those who wish for a happy ending, they could imagine he is going to his brother while for those who is okay with a realistic ending, he probably ready to surrender himself to the police or live a righteous life alone somewhere. It is up to you what you want to make the ending to be -- but one thing for sure, everyone got a closure, happy and contented at the end.

Migthy Thor Sep 22 2016 3:24 am The only reason I watched this drama is because of the "bromance" of Seo In-Guk and Park Bo-Gum. They really played very well the characters of good brothers. The story was so touching. The background plot was deep and intense. The only thing I did not like is Jang Na-Ra, I don't think she fits into the character, there was no chemistry between Jang Na-Ra and Seo In Guk. No matter how much the writer and director force the romance, it just becomes awkward, it's just like they are no more than a nuna and namdongsaeng. They could have chosen a better actress that will fit in and give a better romance.

I applaud the fighting and phrasing of this drama the way they word the phrases is really good! Also the fighting SO REALISTIC, it's like they know how fight actually, the contact on each hit is truly amazing. This is best drama I've seen.

(In all fairness, many inane pointless shows are well received in the U.S. as well while real gems are tossed aside.) It was hard to do anything else in my life because this drama just kept saying...let it go to the next episode! Shocked to see this didn't even get in the top 20 shows to get a percentage. Another great drama is The Producers, that got awards but just luke warm viewership. At least k-dramas of this calibre get made!! If U.S. audiences catch on, maybe I wouldn't have to just watch these on my computer.

tennistensai Feb 08 2016 6:34 am I love it! Not surprising with the low rating in Korea since romance is not the main theme in the drama. The plotline and acting is strong. Especially for the supporting actors like D.O (I'm not an EXO fan so this is not a biased conclusion) and Park Bo Gum.

I'm a big fan of serial killer theme in series. It has a hint of tv series 'criminal minds' in it but just less intricate and less gory. There's a tinge of romance, just enough to go 'awww' rather than 'uhh, i think u should stop now'.

Overall recommended!

The storyline was incredible, the cast was amazing and it really leaves you thinking and for me it was to the extent I had a nightmare with d.o in it because his acting, although small, left such a massive impact ahahha and ofc Nara, Inguk (those two being some of my actor biases) and the rest of the team were brilliant! definitely recommend!

Sam Dec 18 2015 5:00 pm I didn't feel the chemistry between Jang Nata and SIG at first but a the story became nore serious, the very skill of Jang Nara in acting serious/dramatic roles showed. Aside from the romance, I'm happu that this drama centered on the bromance between Min and Hyun. Nevermind the romance this time. I cried my eyes out following the story of the brothers. I got so hooked that I for once didn't just appreciate a romantic side of a drama but all he elements---investigations, fun facts, mind of LJY even if he's the antagonist, and of course the brothers' story. This should set as the cornerstone for the succeeding dramas. I just love it. Daebak!!

Also i hope he reads this as well as the actors on this drama. the cast was very well chosen .i hope he enjoyed working with them as well as they should have enjoyed doing this drama. the chemistry of all this actors is so amazing that it can't be expressed with words. and this is to all of those people whom are thinking TWICE to watch this drama i will tell you that if you are into mystery and into different expectations for usual dramas this drama is the one for you then , is worth watching it. you won't get bored at all and you will always want to see the next episode. At 1st i only bought the drama because i read about the plot and also because this 2 great actors Seo In-Guk and Park Bo-Gum were on it, BUT wen i started to watched i got a huge connection into the story it almost reminded me of the US TV show X-Files ^.^ but it is slightly different due to the story of course . I'm sorry im getting to exited writing this since i just finish watching it, and i can't believe that it was so good, it was so much better than i expected it to be <3.

The series was entertaining and engaging, and it keeps you puzzeled, I loved the ending! Though it was left open. As for the characters, I admired each character of the drama. The story was weird in a nice way. I recommend this drama a lot, actually it is placed in my top 3 of all time watched dramas.

I like his acting style, he brings life to his characters. It's as if he's not acting at all. I'm so impressed that I watched his other dramas and now I'm a certified fan. I'm looking forward to his upcoming projects

max dean Oct 16 2015 1:49 am i like the story line. it show lee hyun's deduction skill is brilliant. but it will be more interesting if lee hyun's personality or character is like Park Hae-Jin from Bad Guys http://asianwiki.com/Bad_Guys_(Korean_Drama). there's no resemble of character between young lee hyun and old lee hyun. the young lee hyun not even cry when his father died but the old lee hyun character seem normal, it does not reflect his younger version. If you like crime psycho drama I suggest u to watch BAD GUYS.

Baes Oct 12 2015 5:10 am So far my favs are Bogum, Kyungsoo, In-Geok, and Nara! WOW this is great chemistry! I didn't really enjoy the drama that much because you know it is more into crime. However, I do like the chilling crime that Kyungsoo portrayed in the beginning, it was very thrilling and hot. I love the brotherly relationship with the Lee brothers, it was sweet and cute how they would use the time to heal the broken memories. And lastly the romance, although there isn't a lot of romance but it is actually very related to those kind of relationship building as one fall for another in real life. I don't really get the end but what I'm assuming is that they don't want to complete the ending. They want US to complete the ending with what we think. They either will either capture Lee Joon Young or kept pursuing his whereabouts. Min would either choose his new identity or turn himself in. I think like that because remember that the happy ending lies upon our head, it was what we want. So choose whatever ending you like to make it either a good or a bad ending. Me? I'd definitely say that they will capture Lee Joon Young someday and Min will go and turn himself in. 'Cause I like righteousness, that is what a happy ending should be like ;)

They would have liked some other female lead for Seo In Guk. I think there are some dramas where they can accept older female leads, but for some male leads audience can't.

Min ah be strong. I just feel like hugging him. The more he feels hurt and feels abandoned and misses his brother the more i just want to hold him and let him to cry and let him understand it will be okay. In a way I'm like him. I have a habit of keeping things in me and wanting the other party to read my mind. In life what i learnt is you got to speak up and say your mind. Stop feeling hurt and stop self destructing! shiru Sep 08 2015 9:31 am This drama really didn't need a romantic storyline and it was misleading advertising to put seo in guk and jang na ra as a couple in their posters. Those two really tried to make their characters' work as a couple but the match was off and their kissing scenes super awkward...maybe they were trying to have something for everyone but that 'main couple' totally wasn't it. It wasn't a long enough drama to really develop all the themes they wanted. Otherwise it was a fresh storyline that was truly engaging. Recent korean dramas have been really changing the 'rules' and moving away from predictable patterns. love them.

But in the end, just so simple and easy, it's just that the twists are complicated along each episodes.... But I love the character of Min, I was really touched by that sibling relationship.... Writtenly smart... It's a hidden gem....

Can't believe that those young actors can REALLY act.... and to the leads, convincing enough... Congrats to the production staff!!

Anyway, I really hope it will have season 2, since the jerk Lee Joon Young still alive peacefully.

Basically only Hyeon and LJYoung knew he was alive in that clinic.

kero Aug 26 2015 1:48 pm @rouge you know what, I JUST found out that INITIALLY THEY wanted TO CAST Lee Jin Wook so when JNRa got the role offer the counterpart was going to be LJWook, not SeoIG, so that would have changed this drama so much, on the pairing side, LJWook is one of my fav actually, but I just cant imagine this drama without Seo now, because Seo and Park Bo Gum was all to this drama. BoGuk chemistry They were perf as brothers lol. I watched the drama because of their brotherhood and how this psychopath plot line troubled them both. I think they should have secured the male lead before choosing any female lead, specially because of the age gap I personally still hate and bothered me on all 16 eps. JNR wasn't much of a problem, to me, was her role. ChaJA was just merely annoying, this character was so much 4th lead material that didn't really do much.

They should have switched up her makeup or her acting should have been more passionate and believable I had no prob with Seo In Guk tho. Writers had to ruin shit instead of keeping as low as it was in the entire drama, and focus on the brothers/psycho, such a pointless scene.

id9 Aug 20 2015 2:11 am This drama is simply amazing!!! I watch it raw and with subs. Even after it's completed, I am still watching it... Words can't describe this drama. The bad thing is that I am not watching other kdramas yet, since this one is just too good to be forgotten. Every episodes are worth it. Highly recommended. Great job Seo In Guk and Jang Nara. I even learn how to write and read hangul seriously because of this drama, and I'm glad that I can read and write in hangul now.

ghk Aug 19 2015 8:27 pm @mia first time i saw P*Bo*G too (technically saw him in a movie called blind but he had like a 5 min role so I wouldnt recall) but i like him as Min the most the way he portrayed the killer how he longed for Hyeon to notice him so badly that it got almost obsessively bromantic lol! how his psychopath tendencies were deeply linked to his hyung. You could see he was conflicted with his inner demons specially on last epsds. Great Great acting. As for SeoIG I thought he did a great job on showing lot of emotions in a particular scene in the drama, when the murderer after his 'precious person' was about to stab Min in the building episode. he nailed that ''andweh'' drastic change of expression and how he was crying worried for his brother as he called the ambulance, it was a terrific acting! that was one of my fav of him. :3

At first, when i read the plot I wasnt really excited to watch it, I thought the story was kinda boring but since i love seo in guk, i watched it and I'm really glad that it turned out to be an amazing story. What disturbed me the most about this drama is the fact that its expected. I knew from the start that Lee Joon Ho is Lee Joon Young, and that Lawyer Jeong is Min, it was easy to guess. It was obvious from the very beginning, I mean since they appeared. It would have been even greater if we had a doubt and then that doubt was wrong and then we got surprised when knowing the truth. Anyway its still a really good drama, it reminded me of "Bad guys", if you guys are fans of that kind of dramas and havent watched Bad guys yet, please give it a try, its really worth watching! Oh and I wonder what choice did Min do in the end?

Lol Not because of the leading couple(they where great) but because of the brothers. This had some romance it was light but good enough. Suspence n comedy. Loved the cop that hated the lead guy. I liked to see him curse dave(David) out. You never know which way the ppl are headed great intrigue. Loved the fact tha Na ra the leading lady was vulnerable but gutsy. She was a tough cookie so you enjoyed watching her. Leading guy, total hottie. Acted great, you felt his pain. Good show give it 4.5 stars. Not a perfect score cause of the... Watch n make up u mind.

Remember This Aug 16 2015 1:21 pm I think Jang Nara's role here is pretty misunderstood. She did an excellent job in this role, frankly the best I've seen--badass, fearless as a police officer, very honest and persistent. Remember the little JiAn? She wouldn't give up protesting to the police that her father was no accomplice to LJY, she was so committed to exonerating him she stalked Hyun from the time he was little till an adult because of his connection to the case.

The character was written to be very forthright, not playing games in either work or personal relationships. She said what needed to be said in this drama--telling Hyun he's not rude, and not a monster, to not ever think of himself that way. At the dock scene, she begged him to treat her as a partner and reveal what he finds out about LJY, to which he agrees and asks for the same. That's a big step for this character. And then you can't handle this on your own, you're already crying out for help (re Min).

Lee Hyun was a very closed character, not trusting anyone, and she gradually broke through that with a slow growing personal relationship built on trust and really knowing each other. Loved that slow-burn; very charming and realistic. There's no way if this character was just written to be a police officer that she'd have broken through to Hyun, or been at his house to hear his cry out for help re Min. She was the one who figured out it was Min he was going to save in the fight, not "going to meet some woman.". Her character was indispensable to the plot and among the characters in the story. She was not "nosy", didn't push the situation and interfere in the brothers family business. Her gentle confrontation of Min towards the end is something he remembers when he made the decision at the end to leave behind that paperwork and the hospital, symbolic of making the right decision.

It's interesting that people want to understand her character or there relationship in light of other KDrama plots. She was one of the best female leads I've seen. Their chemistry was great, slow-growing and based on honesty. I know she's several years older than SIG but I think they looked great together... he's acted with a number of older actresses and I think pulls it off quite well.

@31mi57 you got to be kidding saying THANKS to her Hyeon and Min had a happy ending?? THANKS TO HER?? ????Did you watch the drama without biasing just because you needed overrated romance?? SHE actually made Min get stabbed, if he didn't survive she would have been as guilty as LJY for pressuring him, the kid clearly wasn't prepared to face his crimes, she just went behind Hyeons back pretending she gave a shit, she just wanted him in jail, can't overlook stuff that you don't even have evidence of, then don't bish! Ban Aug 16 2015 12:58 am I could not resist commenting on this drama as a fan. Completely agree with the posts below about this being a gem! I wonder if there's a way to let KBS know that the ratings are a fluke, and yes they should make season 2 cos there are so many supporters like us here! :P

All the characters were well-built, distinct, and the connections between them very realistic for the story-line. It was great that the script stayed true to what it was, unlike some where changes were made to conform to fans' requests. Love the humorous punchlines that made it all more human.

Kudos to the great direction, cast and crew. The actors and actresses brought the characters alive. Personally, Jang Nara and Choi Won Young were particularly stellar in their natural and believable performances.

The themes of violence, childhood trauma, and the impacts on morality, choices, are also thought provoking.

Lee Hyun's guilt and love towards his brother, and his struggle with his past and (current) memory lapses is truthfully quite hard to portray, and Seo In Guk did a great job. For its genre, Cha Ji-An defies the "damsel in distress" template for being the sole female lead in the show. Her bravery, honesty, intuitiveness, ability to stay true to herself, and never give up attitude were truly refreshing. And all the characters' (even the minor ones) struggles with hope, disappointment, guilt, fear, anger, grief, and moral choices, were portrayed well and added much dimension and depth to them.

There were also many more messages and ways to interpret them, making this drama more than just a "feel-good" show or one that "entertains without plot". It brings out so much more in its audience.

So as a fan, it really hurts that the ratings prevented the show from having more positive attention (it was heart-breaking to read reports and reviews that simply stated this drama had the lowest ratings amongst its same timeslot and ends there. It is that superficial huh...). But it is also understandable that for its sometimes brain-cells killing complexity and genre (thriller, mystery, crime, humour, romance all mixed in), it would be hard for some viewers to catch on with it.

Nonetheless, it's still a superb drama that deserves more than it has credit for.

For anyone wondering if they should watch this drama.... YESH! Do NOT worry about the rating, it is pure bullsh-t for this drama.

There is not a lot of romance between the female and male lead but it is replaced by amazing bromances!!! and you can feel a connection between the female and and male lead like there is a chemistry, it is not one of those couples who you are watching and although the story is great , because they are not selling it , it appears like it is not.... NAH it is the complete opposite!!

the story line?,PERFECT!! perhaps a season 2? :')) but then again this is K-dramaland

the actors? AMAZING!! this is pure GOLD

thrills, enthusiasm, love, hate, pity,sadness.... a real roller coaster... listen I even started siding with the ''villain'' !! THIS IS HOW GREAT this drama is... you may even fall in love with the main villains hence not wanting them to get caught :') aigoo!!!

ANYWAYS i know how hard it is to start a new drama especially when the one you were watching was like your everything right? lol. BUT honestly after loads of rom-coms, this is DEFINITELY the drama to watch!!

I wouldn't recommend it as your first ever kdrama as it is a lot EXCEPT if you are into Sherlock Holmes kinda of things....

The story is told from the perspective of Lee Hyun but the character of Cha Ji An is just as important, especially in the second part of the drama. It's because of the initiative and decisions (good or not) Cha Ji An that the story get forward. Lee Hyun becomes a fugitive if the character Cha Ji An didn't exist, it's thanks to her that Hyun & Min have a happy ending... And the end say that fully, the 3 characters that build the story and plot are Lee Joo Young, Lee Hyun & Cha Ji An... Sorry for the fan of bromance but for me except to feel guilty to his brother it serves no other unlike Ji An that supports After people like it or not but it's the truth...

This drama is a gem : Best plot, Best characters, Best OTP & Best OST <3

This drama is way too advanced for the general Korean audience that is too accustomed to lighthearted romance / twisted unrealistic manipulation of plot writing / high society power game so Im not all that surprised by the low rating. Nonetheless I knew audience from outside would appreciate the gems hidden in this masterpiece. I wish more dramas of this kind would be produced.

Era Aug 14 2015 3:27 am As an avid fan of CSI, Criminal Minds, Mentalist and the like, I found this drama to be truly captivating. With the right amount of suspense, thrill, romance--you name it. I just wish that Korean dramas like this comes in more than one season. The writing was smart and the acting was superb. Hands down to the cast and crew. TBH though, I don't trust ratings sometimes but I wish more people saw how amazing this drama was.

It's too bad that this drama more popular at overseas than korea. Although the ratings low in korea but IRY have many international viewers who love & support it.

Firstly i watched this drama because SIG but now i totally fall in love with PBG. IMO he really can act many emotions. His deadly stare, innocent looks, cute smile, everything so good. Although not many romantic scenes between SIG & JNR but i really love to see bromance between SIG & PBG. Just watch until ep. 14. can't wait to watch the 2 last episode next week. All casts really have good acting skills. GOOD JOB EVERYONE

Like others, i really demand the sequel. btw wanna see in details how Min changed after he decided to stay as Min not become another new person.

AnEnRi Aug 12 2015 9:40 pm I loved the way this writer (Kwon Ki Young) has used the "communicating vessels": giving information over the central plot through parallel situations. Dialogues are outstanding. Criminal cases were complex and intense emotionally. A subtle, open, very well suggested ending. Great performances. Maybe too complex for the average of the audience; perhaps, for this is the low ratings. Best KBS series so far this year.

The writing, acting, directing, editing, sound (w/the psycho killer moments) and music are near unbeatable. So why isn't it getting the praise and acknowledgment it deserves from its own country? Speaking from experience, ratings do not tell whether a show is good or not. I've seen so many awesome shows with not so great ratings (Kill Me Heal Me (nvr went over 11%), Healer (nvr went over 11%), Ex-Girlfriend Club, High School: King of Savvy etc). Meanwhile, shows with weaker writing have seen pretty high ratings (Heirs, Producer etc), proving yet again that star power wins every time. Its unfortunate that it is the international audience who is more appreciative and share a diverse range of tastes, which explains why our preferences differ from the domestic audience..

It felt draggy at times in the earlier eps and the cliff hangers have much to be desired as i was nvr worried by any. If ur looking for a hot romance this is not the show. But if ur looking for mystery, intrigue and a strong cast this is the show for u. Its not really conventional but there's something that keeps me watching. Park Bo Geum, Seo In Guk and Choi Won Young make the show worth watching. When they're on screen its chillingly entertaining. But the show isn't for everyone which is why the low ratings are understandable. But i think it does deserve higher ratings.

alana Aug 06 2015 10:19 pm Like many others, this is one of my top-rated 2015 K dramas ... absolutely surprising and unpredictable ... brilliant acting, complicated characters, fast moving and increasingly complex plot, great cinematography/film storytelling, well choreographed fight scenes, keeps up the suspense and tension with exquisite rhythm ... I usually don't enjoy crime shows/thrillers, and have a difficult time explaining to people who know me why I would like this show so much. I'm totally intrigued by it! Next big question will be the ending ... always difficult to pull off well!

Oh, and I really liked both Kill Me/Heal Me and also High Society .... which both pulled off the challenge of ending well :) as well as having many of the qualities listed above. Yes, High Society is somewhat predictable - but they pulled it off with such skill and heart ...

This is so great for me and i dont want to come an end so far,,i will miss them especially Seo In Guk and Jang Nara..I hope after this they will giving another set of drama like Romantic Comedy for them.They are so Good as a Lovetheme..And i love seeing theme together again...

I was moved by the acting of the attorney brother, he truly yearned for attention/affection from his hyung. Lee Hyeon made a good choice by first trying to earn his borther's trust back instead of turning him in to the police, orelse, it would have been tragic to let bad blood seep in between the brothers.

My favorite drama of 2015 so far.

Every episode has a killer cliff hanger (i hate it a lot) but that's what makes it really good (you cant help wanting more of it). It's definitely not your usual romance dramas but this is one that really spends time on each murder case, which interestingly have one common element that links to the root issue (not gonna disclose anything here because this drama is HIGHLY recommended!) Best part of this drama is the hot lead Seo In guk. He can really act. Definitely not a cookie cutter performance on his side!!

Seo In Guk and Park Bo Gum have me wrapped around their fingers- I am so in love with the portrayal of their characters (and everyone, EVERYONE, is awesome)! Hope the overseas love I'm sending their way is a comfort because I honestly don't understand the ratings. I don't have enough good things to say about this show! Watch it immediately if you aren't already immersed in it (my rec).

Well directed and the acting is amazing. I love all the characters equally but do love SIG, JNR and PBG heaps because they just play the roles amazingly. Didn't like JNR before this drama but her character just made me like her solo much.

Despite the plot being predictable at some point of the drama (I managed the figure out the relations between the characters within the first few episodes before they revealed it), the different crimes were pretty well written and filmed as well as produced and directed.

Besides, the director of this drama is also the director for Queen of Office and that drama received rave reviews and well-received in my country. Thus, I do not get why it's not doing well on the rating charts.

I may or may not have misinterpreted the chart so if any kind soul out there that can help me understand, I'd be honoured. But if my theory was right, I'm all ears to listen to the reason it's not doing well in Korea.

Overall, I'm in love with this drama and would say it's one of my top 5 detective Korean dramas that I would recommend anytime. Thanks all!

Mimi Jul 28 2015 12:10 am Well I'm yet to start this one, been saving the opportunity. Had to be sure it had anything going for it. Basically I'm not that much of a fan of either leads. For me Seo in-guk always has too much intensity. While in contrast, for me Jang na-ra always seems like such a watery character. She manages to look washed out which is a put-off. Not sure if she somehow imbibed the 'snail' personality Jang hyuk portrayed of her in Fated to Love you ***big grin***

But...with all the reviews so far, it seems this is a worthwhile series. I'll just overlook the fact that Seo In-Guk is just so much that weirdly in-your-face kind of male lead.

I look forward to enjoying this and hope it's as feel good as the other dramas I'm watching, such as Beautiful Bride, Time I loved You, Ghostess, Hidden Identity, Mask etc.

Den Jul 27 2015 4:30 pm I'm a non Korean and have been watching Korean drama for more than 2 years now. I got bored to the usual romance/melodrama type plot. I found IRY and got hooked to it. It is a mind blowing story and different from normal Korean drama. I get to use my brain deciphering the episodes. Kudos to the writer, director Seo In Guk, Jang Nara and the whole staffs. Job well done everyone.

It was the best decision I've ever made tbh. Now I'm totally hooked with this drama! I like these type of dramas; mystery with some actions. I like Park Bogum's character the most! He's really good!! Also, D.O's cameos were amazing! That guy can sing and he can even act. He's really good for an idol! Can't wait for next weeks episode! ^^

The sarcastic way of arguing when he defended Jung Ha, the way he slightly parts his lips after saying "De", the innocent look he gave when Hyeon was questioning him when Ji an was attacked, the sudden death stare at Ep 9, the longing in his eyes when he had dinner with Hyeon, the gaze full of jealousy and even the sometimes evil smile. He is just so lovable murderer or not. I replayed his every scene. It will be a while before I get over him.

I guess my expectation was too high that I got so disappointed when it it failed to meet my expectations. The main leads - Jang Nara and Seo In Gook - I've been waiting to see the 2 of them together in the drama but I just don't feel any chemistry between them & the way the investigations are being done are boring as hell. I have dropped out from watching this drama. So disappointed in this. The previous drama in this time slot which was Who Are You School 2015 was like 100% way better than this. Like I said, solely my own thoughts and opinions about this drama.

You can see some tension when they are together on screen especially off screen. Seo's Mother was 7 yrs senior to his father (Nara looks 24 years old anyway). They both love and started singing initially then acting. Both are singles and looking for Mr. & Miss Right! Nara's ideal man is tall, singer, respectful to elders, must be athletic, have a bigger lips than hers (Seo In-Guk). Guk by the way was a national 2nd place Taekwondo champion and a swimmer. They both struggles being poor when they were kids. They are both successful. PERFECT MATCH! C'mon NaraGuk match in heaven.

R Jun 25 2015 2:34 pm I've read about a plagiarism of this drama. the story is similar. about a mother with 2 childs and a mother find out that one of them is psycho. but the truth the other childs is pycho too. maybe the story is lee joon young is alive and his younger brother is psycho. and maybe the doctor is lee jin young and the one who kill lee hyun father is his younger brother. in ep2 not showen lee jin young killed his father but only fight. i don't know. just watched. sorry my english.

Hello Monster Jun 25 2015 10:05 am Loving this drama :D Hyun and Jian is too cute, the way Hyun play hard to get is just so endearing. And the investigator team is so funny, especially the team leader, poor him, hahaha.

Most fave part and character is young Hyun.

And lol at someone the fight scene is the highlight of 2nd episode, if he stuck with just comedy one he won't improve as an actor... this is the best act of Do Kyung Soo so far of his career as an actor for me and K-media. Dark role fit him. Kyung Soo fighting!

They're both killers!!!
