Kim Sabu (Han Suk-Kyu) and his team at Doldham Hospital continue their work to save the lives of patients. The old Doldham Hospital building is set to welcome a new connecting trauma center building that features the latest in medical equipment. Prior to the trauma center's official opening, a crisis occurs on a North Korean ship that has drifted into South Korean waters. Doctors from Doldham Hospital fly out to help the patients on the ship who are in critical condition, but the patients must be brought to the hospital. Meanwhile, the South Korean government wants the North Korean patients returned to their country in order to have a smooth summit with its neighboring country. A surprise visitor also awaits at Doldham Hospital.
Cha Jin-Man (Lee Kyoung-Young) is brought to Doldham Hospital by Park Min-Guck (Kim Ju-Hun) to run their new trauma center. Cha Jin-Man is the father of Cha Eun-Jae (Lee Sung-Kyung) and an old rival Kim Sabu.

Season 4 is definitely coming. We just need to wait when. And yeah if season 4 would really be greenlitted, This will Probably be the last. So i wish they'll make it the Grandest Stage of them all. We just dont need the Avengers. We need the entire Universe! 1. Hye-jung - CEJ highschool rival. 2. Parkhoon & Jaehee - North Korean Couple that are freeagents! 3. Kang Mo-yeon - a humanitarian dr who wants to fresh anew after her boyfriend "died on the Border" .. 4. Park Eun-bin -as Eunjae's sister who was mentioned in s2. A neurosurgeon who have a successful career in USA. .. 5. We need a half-sister for Bae Moon-jeong. He has zero story outside being a Loan-shark Son!

Ritu Apr 18 2026 1:36 pm Continuing with my previous comments. I don't think KDJ was completely wrong either but he was definitely not 100 percent right and season 1 biased fans need to stop making him out to be like he's perfect. Season 1 had great moments but I liked season 2 and 3 more.

No character is perfect but they seem to think KDJ was , he was downright annoying, people say that season 2 characters have no respect to KDJ, but that guy literally complained for everything in season 1 like are you for real? even after coming back he's being disrespectful to kim sabu ,(so it's ok for him to be disrespectful?) thinking only he is right . All characters have flaws but season 1 biased fans are so toxic and they are the same ones who didn't want to accept season 2 leads with an open mind. The people who say only season 1 leads and only season 1 is good are toxic.

Eydee Mar 30 2025 5:16 am Funny how people don't fully understand the characters of Seo Woo Jin and Cha Eun Jae. It was unfair to compare it to the characters of S1 because obviously, those doctors were matured ones. Unlike SWJ and CEJ which were from a different generation or era. I'm not saying their characters are immature, but on S2 and S3, if you will understand that they are still on the process of learning. Their generation is woke and more free. Unlike the generation of S1. Like in real life, young people nowadays are not afraid to say whatever they want to say. They're not into position or age. Respect is gained whatever or whoever you are. I don't see the characters as rude because they are made as Smart people. They have different opinions and perspectives. All have different characters. So for me, All Season Are Well Made. You Can See Different Kinds Of People, Different Kind Of Mindset. All Are Different But With Same Emotions, Same Goal.
Estrell Feb 25 2025 6:20 am I watched all the seasons but Season 1 will always be the best. I sometimes find Dr. Cha irrational and Dr. Seo irritating especially when Kang Dongju is back in Season 3.
Kim Saboo will always be Kim Saboo. And Dr. Kang Donju will always be his best student. They're basically the reason why I held on to it up to the last episode of last season.
I wish Dr. Yun would also be back in Season 4 as well as Dr. Do. I'm really in love with the original cast.

Ellen Dec 07 2024 9:06 am Devastated Dr Romantic 3 not on Netflix. Crazy when the first 2 were. Hate Disney, hard to negotiate, expensive. Netflix for us. Can’t believe they dropped it after 2 successful seasons. C’mon Netflix, don’t give a good show to Disney - that’s for kids. Won’t watch Disney.

I hope the actors & writers can continue to do these series for a long time like grey's anatomy as their chemistry off-screen is also the best! Such a joy to watch as a medical student myself hehe. The dynamic between reset couple & dimple couple is a nice touch to the series. Hope to see the main characters from previous season interacts with the current main casts as well as a new neurosurgeon to aid kim sabu <3

Morgana May 09 2024 12:02 pm I wish all doctors from Season 1 can come back and join Trauma centre. No need to add too much dramatic story. Like Hospital Playlist that didn’t add too dramatic things in the story. Just be a good doctor and help patients that’s fun enough to watch.
So I’m kind of disappoint that they couldn’t manage to gather all actors together.
However, I still enjoy watching the show. Apart from political and dramatic plots, the story is worth for watching as an ex-surgeon.
Pamela May 09 2024 8:52 am I have loved all three seasons but S1 & S3 have been my favorite! I love Han Suk-Kyu & no one else could play Kim Sambu more brillantly! Contrary to what some have said about S3, I liked the extra drama between the couples & the politics! A lot of med students & especially residents met their partners while finishing & there is always political drama with hospital administrators. I thoroughly enjoyed DrR & love the actors that have been there from the beginning and the new Dr actors from this last season. I hope we have a S4 & beyond!
Mark Apr 29 2024 4:47 am All 3 seasons were excellent, but season 3 was the best of them all. Easily the best Korean medical drama I've watched. So many dramas fail to wrap the series up satisfactorily, but the season 3 final episode was brilliant. 9/10 from me.

Idk why people are hating S2 couple, but definitely S1 couple had better chemistry. It would be to see both season MLs to work together with Dr Kim. Just to make story Little better, i wish Dr Kim had some more powers and connections.

They make the purest form of original storytelling, it’s an absolute unit and unparalleled industry. Season 3 was phenomenal, I love the dedication of the cast & the stories are unique. They can make 27 seasons and i will be tuned for every single one of them. Season 2 is my favourite & the fact they all came back says a lot.

Great disappointment
This season failed to serve the patients,there were 0-2 patients per episode,too much focused on romance of seo and cha, politics and prof cha,
The writer forgot that this is Romantic doctor Kim Sabu and made his character present only for some advices
Seo woojin and Cha eunjae both are so awful characters,no professionalism,No self awareness,no nothing,waste characters,one is increasing the patients by entering a collapsed building, always he is under someone's knife and gun and the other is so selfish, egoistic,yells at a mourning mom, disrespecting the trauma centre head aka Kang Dong Joo, setting up a boycott,, literally the worst character. She was just crying for her dad and bf nothing else.
The writer is so much focused on these two,even when Dr Jung was out with his daughter who he met after years,seo was accompanying them,when Dr Kang arrived they made up a story that they were college mates,, clearly the writer wants to force these characters in everything happening in the drama.
Dr Jung got his deserved screen time but got robbed with no awards
Even Kim Sabu also got rubbed for the award,he carried the drama for 3 seasons and he gets nothing for it,
Totally a flop season,not much progress in the first 12 eps
After that Dr.Kang entered the drama,things got interesting but at the same time ruined by Cha's unprofessional activities.

Serious attitude problem with no once of respect to anyone. However Kim Sabo is still a joy to watch and the appearance Dr Kang is wonderful.

Sabio Aug 06 2023 5:54 am I really hate how the director is disrespecting all the characters in every season. In s2 they disrespected in bum and now dungjoo.. I guess director is biased on s2 leads. S2 characters should be respectful towards s1 characters coz they're more experienced.
And I don't know what kim saboo is teaching s2 leads that they're becoming arrogant and thought what they're doing is right. Kim saboo should give lessons what he gave to dungjoo is s1. Utterly disappointed.

So entitled, they are not respectful at all, and I hate that they don’t get to be dressed down anymore by Master Kim - they simply became spoiled kids who just wanted to get what they want without listening, compromising or even just trying to understand what was the reason behind… I'm halfway episode 15 and I’m actually thinking of dropping because of my disappointment! Especially at how they treated Dr. Kang, I wish crazy whale made an appearance so she Dr. Kang could fight alongside her, because the season 2 couple became very childlike here…
Pan-Shi Kaiton Jul 21 2023 7:14 pm Is it just me? I love the series. I rewatched s1 and s2 multiple times. Now that s3 is finished, i dont think i have the energy to rewatch it. I love each one of the episodes of season 3, but when i tried rewatching it, episode already gave me the "nevermind" feeling and stopped. But after a one whole season, 16 episodes, multiple hours of it. I feel like we havent accomplished anything on this season.
Episode 1: secret usage of the unofficially openned hospital. Episode 16: Getting accepted for a budget. Not even a worthy of being the main plot for this Great Series. I remember one of the episodes, assembly woman ko is talking in the phone with someone. Season 3 ended without it being revealed. Theres also this one hint about Master Kim's new project, The Rough Rock , Im just a nobody but im sure will be getting more episodes someday. Besides, season 2 promised us that Inbeom will be returning to doldam.
For me, this season 3 is what they called "Season 3 part 1" in the anime.

I guess because It’s the start of Doldam and You will know more about Master Kim lile why He called Teacher Kim or Master Kim. The Team is more Solid. Surgeons are more Talented and Smart. And of course there’s Crazy Whale my most favorite character. The couple Doctors are much more natural and there’s so much chemistry in Season 1. The Procedure is much more complex. There’s so much challenges and Problems of the Hospital. There’s no Dull moment in each episode. Bring back Yoon Seo-Jung, crazy whale please! I really dont like Cha Eun Jae character! She’s cringe, childish. i always skip the scene of Season 2 Couple. Also I think Crazy Whale is the #1 most favorite of master Kim. He saved her 3x, and she is the first student of Dr. Kim. While Kang Dong Ju is much better surgeon than Seo Woo Jin. he is the no.1 top in board exam in license also he mastered the technique of Teacher Kim in just a short period of time. His style is like Teacher Kim.

She is the senior of kang dong ju and among Dr. Kim student. I really2x her personality of being strong personality, smart and funny. Mu most favorite character. ChanEun Jae is childish and always cringe yo her bf, also dont like when she’s in OR sometimes and she makes mistakes. It would be fun if Doctor playlist Doctors would be added wow! I wish I become a surgeon when I was younger like Doctor kim haha. Also the casts are superb A lists like wow! Season 1 Yoon Seo-Jung/ Kang Dong-Ju vs. Season 2 Seo Woo Jin/Cha Eun Jae. But my favorite is still season 1 couple and I think they are more brilliant skilled doctors.

Couldn't wait for that. Overall for season 3, of course I love it but I wished it stay with the medical plot not too much love line. S3 has excessive love plot that I had to skip lot of it. I wished it more like s1 love story but yeah I still enjoyed it anyway!

I didnt like her start of s2 and thought shed have a good character development but wow.....shes still immature asf.
I hope seo jung is back for s4 cant stand eun jae's anymore.
Also i dont know why they kept yang hojun' s character. He asked someone to beat up woojin in s2 then they just kumbaya like a happy family in s3 isnt that weird asf?

I don't know how you would show More medical scenes unless you want to make a documentary out of it. Plenty of "ethics" dramatized throughout the entire drama. "Gap"??? Do you know how much money and time it takes to shoot 16 eps????
Anyway, I believe Season 4 is coming, since we never see the woman at the gas station arrive at the hospital, but we see a woman's feet coming through the door at the end. Can't wait.

In maximum korean series they try to finish story in 16 episodes but as the story is long and they can not ended up the story well. Tried to some how manage and finish the story in last 1/2 episodes. I am a big fan of this series. But quality of content, medical related scene in less. And make the story more romantic and political. As this is a medical related show medical scene, hospital, ethics should be shown more to audience. In season 1 which fullfil all the criteria of medical drama and became the best medical drama show. This season gives a hint about season 4 as so many clues are not solved. Kimsaboo's another plan, kangdong joo's level 1 , and lastly the yoon seo!!! Hope season 4 will come next year. So much gap to release one season which is very disappointing to audience.

Dr. Kang suddenly came in and forced everyone to follow his rules without proper explanation and discussion... His intention and rules may be right but his way of implementing the rules is wrong... After watching ep. 15, I think Dr. Kang is more ego-centric than Dr. Cha... He did not want to negotiate or put away his pride to bring back all the staff who went boycott even though the trauma center urgently needed staff... He prioritized his pride over patients' lives whereas Dr. Cha and other staff value the patients and their colleagues over their pride and ego... So Dr. Kang is the one who deserves the blame more than Dr. Cha...

So maybe there is a need to get rid of that building after all. Ofc i hope what i read is either wrong or an abandoned project and that we have many new follow-up seasons ahead of us (maybe not as many as Grey's Anatomy though...)

A lot of the scenes in this episode 15 are reminiscence of some scenes from season 1. Specially that combined surgery! I hate to say this but it really looks like the final season :'(
And that scene at the end, im pretty sure that Student Jang's ghost helped master kim find a stranded patient.

After watching Eun Jae's selfishness who insists going into operating room even though she is not strong enough, I loose my interest. Didn't see any chemistry between her and Woo Jin too, but I still kept watching because of Kim Sabu.
In this season, Eun Jae is annoying again. It's okay that she really wants to help save patients at Doldam Hospital, but she has no right to nag at Doctor Kang's decision and act arrogantly saying that she's the expert because she's not there. There are only 2 episodes left but I'm fed up and don't want to continue watching anymore.

Hope they’ll realize the difference between the trauma center and the Doldam hospital ER, Master Kim even told Dongju to not forget following the rules. They’re all familiar with how Master Kim ran the Doldam hospital but realistically those ways were not ideal in a proper hospital set up. Dongju’s just polishing as how the things must go.. Sorry but Cha eun jae needs a character development. Good thing Woojin still respect Dongju’s decision as to see how things will go. Hope Seo jung will be back too huhu because the trauma center was Master Kim’s idea after an issue with Dongju and Seo jung in s1.. And we haven’t seen Seo jung leading a surgery yet.

I decided to rewatch season 1 from the beginning to refresh my memory and now I just finished watching the latest episode! 2 eps close to ending the season feels like it is not enough!!!
I want Yoon Seo Jung back as well just to see if Cha Eun Jae will be humbled! I really hated it when she felt like she was right on not followinh the proper protocols and not admitting she made a wrong decision and owning up to it.

The one who needed surgery immediately, becuase of cardiac arrest. And saved a newborn child. It's true she acted childish with the boycot, but tbh this whole situation is also Kang Dong Ju's fault. Cha eun Jae and Kang Dong Ju are two equals and skilled proffesionals and yet Kang Dong Ju treats her like she's his inferior. She's abolutely not! Kang Dong Ju couldn't handle this sitaution as a proper leader would do. He's too prideful and simple respectful conversation would be sufficient to resolve this issue. Plus scolding via phone when she's operating - very immature. It's was difficult surgery (Kim Sabu said this himself) and 'scolding' should be done afterwards, in private. Not humilitaing and stressing the doctor out. So.In the end they both acted very childish like.

It seems that the Fire incident is about traumatic patients arriving at the Trauma Centre, therefore, is Dr Yang (Ring Leader), Dr Cha (childish attitude), Nurse Joo Young Mi and their members still continuing to abandon their duties or to follow Dr Kang Donju's instruction or guidance.
In my view, the issue is the attitude of certain specialist(s)/dr(s) and nurse(s) for both doldam hospital and the trauma centre, they refused to accept instruction, e.g. Dr Cha refused to see her own fault, trauma patient died because of her derelict of duty; ring leader such as Dr Yang, Nurse Joo Young Mi should be disciplined.
Another point is both Doldam hospital and Trauma Centre lacking specialists and nurses. E.g. Dr Cha is thinking she is the only CT specialist, therefore, she have been 'childish'.

Pro's: It can be a decent plot for a season 4. Doldam hospital getting relocated, getting a fresh start, building a new system and atmosphere and probably getting new cast, something like going back to season 1.
But still, ofcourse we dont want doldam to disappear so either i wish that the Fire reaching doldam will only give a little damage, or would just be a total imagination of someone

I also in my view it seems that the assembly lady seems to cohort with Chairman Do.
Further, all the personnel 'boycott' or abundant their duties without cause must be disciplined too in order to prevent future incidents.
We will require a Season 4, so to watch the Doldam Trauma Centre and Doldam Hospital allocating traumatic and non-traumatic patient(s), and the specialists, nurses, and other personnel know their respective duties.
Momo Jun 10 2023 7:33 pm I took a hint that Jang Donghwa could be related to Master Kim in the scene when master kim played a song from the cassette tape, then it followed by the scene where jang-dohwa listen kinda the same song from walkman (old portable cassette player thing). I don't remember which ep it is. In the other episode, master kim accidentally saw the walkman and changed his expression like he could have some memory about it. But jang-dohwa immediately grabbed the walkman and flew (remember the scene when they had coffee together by vending machine after long difficult surgery)

winnie Jun 09 2023 11:35 pm I have watched ep 13, both Dr Cha Eun-Jae and Dr Seo Woo-Jin must be disciplined by Doldam Traumatic Centre and Doldam Hospital. She disregarded her duty towards Doldam Trauma Centre. Dr Seo Woo-Jin was rude to Dr. Kang Dong-ju.
Dr Seo Woo-Jin was wrong as he interfered Dr Kang's duty (while Dr Kang was scolding Dr Cha over the handphone); Dr Seo Woo-Jin cannot differentiate between his personal relationship with Dr Cha and his own professional ethics.
Dr Kang Dong-ju was right to classify non-traumatic and traumatic patients. The traumatic patient died during the operation by Dr Kang due to Dr Cha's irresponsibility.
I would be shocked if Doldam Trauma Centre and Doldam Hospital do not take internal disciplinary action on Dr Cha and Dr Seo pertaining to ethics and responsibility.

Just a bit disappointed that seojung (and in-beom) wasn't mentioned yet. also disappointed that they mentioned last episode that Professor Shim will be present "Next week" but never got indication for her appearing soon. But checking out the date , maybe th next week in the hospital hasn't come yet . Or they talking about a different professor shim.
Lastly, It would be fun if we got a few throwback scenes where we can see them interacting as "residents". And yeah, Best thing in this episode for me is Woojin and Eunjae getting amazed on how fast does kang Dongjuu doing his operation. ???

It has more challenge, more excitement and better plot evolvement. It may have the same protagonist-antagonist plot amidst the setting of an emergency room drama. But the story-telling, the drama, the acting skills, the character development (although I wish they also give more focus on the other characters) and the performance of every person in the story fixates you to watch every scene as they unfold. No boring second, ever.

I hope all of Kim Sabu's expert disciples from Season 1, such as Kang Dong-Joo and Seo Hyun-Jin returned soon being Kim Sabu's Plan C. Therefore, Cha Jin-man be 'out' from Doldam Hospital as he was Kim Sabu's Plan B.
Also, Seo Woo-Jin's wrist is injured, and hopefully, Seo Hyun Jin together with Bea Moon-Joon will fix his wrist back to at least 99%. or Seo Woo-Jin on an exchange to an overseas medical centre to fix his wrist and simultsneously to enhance his specialty/general surgeon field.

We all have opinions about what is right or wrong but I would rather watch and enjoy this drama for what its worth and what it tries to convey. For Dr Romatic 1, 2, 3 I give full credit to the writer, directors and actors for their honesty in showcasing these emotions core values and principles. That had me hooked to this drama from the very start. Every episode always is a cliffhanger but always there a resolution at the end. From whichever viewpoint it is, the viewers in response, will have time to think or question about their own emotions values and principles. That I think made this drama series a success. Cant wait for the remaining episodes!

In case of disasters, the goal is to treat the alive and not to add more casualties. The safety of the medical officers are the top priority, because if anything happens with the medical staff, who would attend to those in need?
Him being arrogant and wanted to go inside the collapse building is the most stupid decision he made. Instead of helping, he just added more problem. Im not saying he deserve what happened to him, but he did that to himself. In our saying “ginusto mo yan diba?”

The squad now are all very familiar with each other and the chemistry are great that it feels like a family. I can't think of another plot if we getting a fourth season, we already got doldam vs sister hospital/president, doldam vs the chairman and now doldam vs the local government. 3. The series already has a crowded cast, Getting new season will probably give us few more cast and high chance of another random disappearance. 4. Kdrama's rarely get a second season and now we already get the third.
So the last possible hope we have to get the OG3 back is getting a special episode someday just like season1. So let's all wish for it together hahaha

(Doctor X, a similar Japanese drama was a tad too long.) I can't help it, but Lee Kyoung-Young plays really unsympathetic characters. This is now fourth drama I see him like that, and he is again an odd one. Seo Woo-Jin on the other hand is a really good character. The way he interacts with his girlfriend is likeable stuff.

It was trauma centres fault for what happened to the kid. Cha jinman's blabbering was just shameless coverup but hospital actually did fuck up. Dr jung isn't blameable as he was super busy. Seriously its like to kim sabu everything is a game and joke at workplace and i thought that before that student died because he sounded like he was having playtime sending yang as some silly plan b , c etc. Like one would ask what if he harmed a patient? Genius master kim had a plan c too. Then seo woo jin, you became a doctor to save lives not to be kim sabu's pet, so if you are assigned there just freaking go and work for patients. If a patient could die like this it means trauma centre staff are aware of such scenarios and they should have checked him well on time. If you are so understaffed why you are alloilwing patients in hospital you can't treat. It was complete negligence at hospital's part what happened and the drama casually brushed it off and everyone from kim sabu to administration to nurses are responsible. Even if ana ccident patient arrives at hospital unhurt he gets a basic checkup which can be done by nurses too, infact its nurses who do it, it's shocking why the nurse didn't take his vitals.

I think its a little bit rare to see a male nurse and a female doctor in a kdrama in my opinion. Eun tak is a calm guy with unexpected charm and I adore his profesionalism. ((In the 3rd season he becomes sexier)). Areum is sometime clueless and a little bit funny. And thats why they suit each other..

I watched Dr Romantic 2, because I was a fan of Hyoseop and Sungkyung and I'm really glad they made another season with same charcters and the additional characters are also superb ? Also I'm happy some actors from Extraordinary attorney had a cameo ?? Kudos to the director of this drama, every plot from every episode is gets you hooked. For those who are asking if they need to watch the previous season, for me it is also better to know the begining of the love story of Woojin and Eunchae, even Euntak and Ahreum's and how they able to have the Trauma Center, but for me its fine if you dont ? Fighting!!

All casts are perfect. I’ve watched a lot of medical kdrama, japanese drama and us medical series but this is by far the best among the rest!!! Kudos to writers, producers and cats. You are really the best!!! Hope for season 4:):)
Sakae May 03 2023 8:17 am @Nabi Nabi, it's hard to prejudge how S3 will develop, however there is definitely a story (regarding management rights) which watching S1 and S2 helps you to understand. The relationships between main characters is actually interesting. Some actors new to S2 are back, some are there since S1, others are new. Yang Ho-Joon was really a piece of work in S2. To appreciate how bad it was, you need to see his past. My recommendation however is - do it, and start with S1. It was/is a good drama to watch.

The plot would be fine if their characters in Episode 2 were distinct from those in the Extraordinary Woo series. Since she was Atty's mother, the inconsistencies in Oh Myung-Sim (Jin Kyung) would be completely different if they were to appear as is. Although Woo was extremely wealthy, she plays a nurse in the Dr. Romantic series. Anyhow, it was cute!

Also, both of them is busy with other project too both film and drama. Main cast from s2 is a young and rising stars so their price is not that high like from s2 and not that busy like their sunbae.
Honestly i hope that yang sejong will be the lead for s3 but i guess not haha.
But hoping for cameo by seo hyunjin and yoo yeonseok also yang sejong!

However, they never casted them again for the next season. That's so unfair knowing how great Yoonseok and Hyunjin are. They even had the best chemistry all throughout the couples in the show.... His acting was better, facial expressions was perfect. He and Lee Sung-kyung do have chemistry. they were perfect for the roles. I watched Dr. romantic 2 many times. I am so excited for the next season.

dr romantic 2 is definitely a hit drama surpassing the first simply because of the addition of actors that add a fresh chemistry.
It's ok if the main doctor is still Han Suk Kyu, but the main couple leads staying the same, is a risk.
