Sim Woo-Joo's (Lee Sung-Kyung) life became miserable because of her father and his mistress. After her father's death, Sim Woo-Joo is kicked out of her home by the woman her father dated. She decides to take revenge on that woman. She approaches Han Dong-Jin (Kim Young-Kwang), who is the son of her father’s ex-mistress. Sim Woo-Joo gets to know him and realizes that she has fallen in love with him. Han Dong-Jin is a workaholic, who has suffered from loneliness for his entire life. His life changes after he meets Sim Woo-Joo.

Vinutha Mar 19 2025 2:45 am I don't know if this drama changed my life, but it definitely changed the few days I binge-watched it, and I can tell it's going to change at least a few days in my immediate future. I really need to thank all those who left a comment on this page because it was all of y'all who convinced me to watch this drama. I am always hesitant about melodramas, but thanks to the comments I was able to watch this gem. It was so well-written and directed and omg acted! Every single word uttered by the lead pair, every single glance of their eyes, and every sibgle shot that either of them were in was a masterpiece/cinema masterclass! Eventhough this is such slow drama, I was never bored or inclined to skip any scenes. Everything makes sense. The lead pair definitely deserved more scenes at the end there, but even the last minute was pure perfection. Thank you to everyone involved for making such an amazing drama, we don't see enough of these. It's always the clichés and the same old characters, not pure emotion like this. Both heart-wrenching and heartwarming.

I bingewatched on this drama and it was worth every second!!!!! This has been like My Ahjussi with a li'l Uncontrollably Fond and perhaps It's Okay, It's Just Love. What an amazing ride!!!!
gasenadi Nov 02 2024 6:43 pm This is on the "Favorites to Rewatch" list. Both leads nailed their characters' personalities to a T. The gradual shift from contempt and resentment to concern was brilliantly written and conveyed. The other characters were mostly "meh" or stereotypes (like Bad Mom, Sick Mom and the Remorseful Ex-GF) but sometimes helped to move the plot along. This is my third watch and plan to see it again.

Even after Jun told her how woojoo has suffered for her family, she still has the gall to feel offended. She, who has fallen in and out of love and discarded relationships without a thought. I just want woojoo and dong Jin to be happy!

A series with a beautiful beginning and 6-7 very interesting and engaging episodes. Then a deep, deep fall into the usual poignant, depressing and melancholic Korean dumbness. 8-9 unbearable, sad and stultifying episodes. Director Lee Gwang Young made us suffer until the last minute. Anyway, thanks for giving us a happy ending this time. Unbelievable that the selfishness and jealousy of the character Sim Hye Won towards her own sister Sim Woo Joo, led her to give up her love with Han Dong Jin for 1 year. In fact, the real reason is not anger at not being informed about the pact between Sim Woo Joo and Yoon Jun, but jealousy towards her sister and the marked selfishness she had. Only once she had found her new love with Yoon Jun the atrocious Sim Hye Won decide to give her approval to Sim Woo Joo. One also has to wonder, how it is possible that The character Sim Woo Joo with such a strong and decisive (albeit suffering) personality could have so easily abdicated in the face of such a request. It is always difficult for us here in Europe to understand these Korean family dynamics. A beautiful series that made us cry and suffer so much and for this reason unforgettable.

Mark May 26 2023 3:09 am Perhaps the best slow burn romantic melodrama I've ever seen. It took me an episode to really engage with it. I was actually considering dropping this drama half way through the first episode - but what a mistake that would have been. For anyone who likes melodramas, then this is a must watch. Lee Sung-Kyung especially is amazing.

joa May 02 2023 12:23 pm Big applause for both main leads, they could portray so much without even talking. They also could make holding hands so much more romantic than a kissing scene would. SPOILER ALERT!!! However i think it's a bummer that the drama ends without any big conflict that actually the main point of the plot. Dongjin still doesn't know Woojoo identity and background, also what her did to his company. Woojoo's family also still clueless about who Dongjin actually is. The House also forgotten lol, eventho that's one of the main reasons for the plot to go on.

Cathy Apr 21 2023 9:37 pm I really liked this drama. I know someone think that this pace is too slow in it, but I felt like it flowed. What did I like about it? The acting was natural and sincere. People really connected with each other and you could feel their relationships. The storyline was interesting. There are reasons that I liked it because of things that were not in it. It did not have screaming people, and everyone had intelligent and well thought out conversations. There were no mother's beating up their kids who are old enough to make their own decisions. No mother's screaming at their kids who are old enough to make their own decisions, they had discussions instead. And on a rather different note, the makeup on the men was natural. There was no overly dark lipstick to make them look cakey and fake. The makeup artist should get awards.
Ola Apr 20 2023 3:27 pm I only read a few of the comments and didn't see anyone mention the outstanding cinematography. I think all of the storylines are good. I love how they used cinematography to tell or enhance the story. They could eliminate the "slow walk" in every Asian movie because they are time wasters. I did love the script and how everything and everyone is somehow related or knows something everyone else doesn't know. I love the relationship between Han and Choi and how Choi withholds Woojoo's "secret" not even knowing the complete story. He's protecting his friend's heart. Overall, this is a well written and well thought out series about relationships, love and forgiveness that doesn't hit like a cliche. Haven't gotten to the end but I love what I've seen so far.

I started this series and by the second episode, I was going to put it aside. It is extremely slow paced. I came here and found others also thought it was slow so maybe this wasn't the series for me. But I said one more episode. Then I kept saying one more episode. And I finished it, glad I stuck it out. The whole storyline is extra sad, I barely ever, wait... did I ever?!, see the main characters smile. WooJoo just sorta walked around angry and DongJin was just sorta looked guilty. And everyone's problems was because of the selfishness of one specific person. If people would have smacked that lady more often, so much could have been avoided.
I didn't understand the sister's storyline and why she couldn't successfully keep a man. It didn't really make sense to me.
I do believe that if I had to watch it one episode a week, that I would have never picked the series back up after the second episode but I watched it all within a few days, so it made it worth it.

Steve Apr 14 2023 10:36 am Mostly a good drama, although 10 episodes would have sufficed. It's a bit of a throw-back to dramas where the story unfolds slowly with a focus on the characters' settings and expressions rather than on the dialog. The best episodes are where we could feel the sense of longing between the two leads, and it left us waiting anxiously for the next episode. That was not true for all episodes, however. Spoiler ahead. The ending was a bit disappointing - not because the two characters re-connected, but in the way they got back together. The ending needed to be more dramatic than the two minutes they gave us. For example, as Dong-Jin sat at the campsite, Woo-Joo could have appeared from behind a vehicle that pulled away. Something like this where the eye contact and emotion of the characters could have swelled and had time to pull us in. But what do I know. I don't write the stuff; I just watch it.

I was watching it at 2x speed because I was interested in the story line. A hole episode could fit in 30 minutes if they cut the unnecessary pauses and music and also multiple flashblack of what we have already seen

Boo Apr 13 2023 12:09 am Daebak! The best melodram of 2023, hard to beat. When all characters, actors, cinematography, writers, producers are amazingly marinated into this superb melodrama. Just finished watching ep16 and i can say that I literally cried every episode from 1-16. You will feel all emotions, happiness, sadness,regret,guilt,fear and most esp Sarang. This will always be one of the best dramas that ive watch since ive started watching kdramas. I super Love LSK and KYK topnotch, lovely actors and the chemistry was off the charts! More projects together guys. I cant contain the happiness im feeling right now with a bit of sadness really since it already ended. But no worries coz I’ll definitely rewatch it. ??. Sarranghae to all who made this drama possible. My longest comment here ever..?

One of Kim Young-Kwang and Lee Sung-Kyung best works, of course their chemistry subtly endearing. Undeniably they are good friends in real life, must be tough to act in a solemn way. Definitely worth binge watching again!

Shen Apr 10 2023 1:51 am This drama is nothing short of amazing. The leads showed so much emotions. Never seen this part of Lee sung kyung and she delivered the role perfect. Both actors complement each other and the chemistry between them is out of this world. The storyline is very Intentional, each episodes keeps you on your toes and ends with a cliff hanger making you interested in the next episode. I think the drama isn't getting talked about enough but I hope with time it will get the accolades it deserves.

I don’t usually do melodramas but this one had a very interesting storyline and so I’ve been able to continue the drama unlike some other dramas where I start it off but can’t seem to finish. This one had good actors and actresses and the soundtrack is soooo good! I love the song at the end of episodes 13 and 14!!! If you’re thinking about watching this drama, just do it!

Especially at the end of episode 12 where she looked at Dok Jin's face, it's called love. she loves Dok jin, but she knows that they can't be together. And she doesn’t know what to do.
I really wish them a happy ending :( they both suffer all this time.

Errica Lim Mar 27 2023 12:18 am Call it love, it’s a mellow drama that will get you hooked by watching it. Taking a break from rom coms this 2023, this is worth watching. Seeing how it started as a sad, lonely story of two people connected by a broken marriage caused by their parents, foreseeing love to grow beautifully out of it, ever after. Love also seeing Sung Joon “Yoon Jun” oppa here, but kinda sad that he is just the 2nd male lead it will be fun though if he will happily end up with Kim Ye Won “Hyesung”, afterall, they do have a budding chemistry here.

Best melo drama i've been watching so far. The main cast are professional, the chemistry DAEBAK!!! somehow some of the scene and how LSK & KYK show the emotions really related in real life (sad, alone, feeling betrayal, unfair, etc).
I can't wait to next ep every week and wishing their happy ending!

Female_human Mar 17 2023 4:52 am This Is My Favorite Drama Ever in the romance genre. It's a slow burn, the cast is perfect, and their chemistry is so matching. The actions of the character really speak for the ambient, it doesn't use a lot of songs / OST to create the ambient. Every shot is very pleasing to the eye. Also, I love that there are a lot of wide shots in this drama, the wide shot is really suitable for this story. For me, this drama exudes calmness, intriguing, genuine, and it's very lovely.
Also, I'm agreeing with the comment below, it has "Liberation Notes" vibes (which I also love that drama). But compared to that drama, I understand the Male lead and Female lead's actions and perspectives a whole lot better in this drama, since "Liberation Notes" the Male lead and Female lead characters are more silent.

PANDORA Mar 09 2023 10:22 pm The history of this show is so captivating, the lonliness in their eyes, in the lines, the darkness of the images, so well written, directed and acted. I just love it. The cinematography of this entire show is absolutely brilliant. It's been awhile since I've seen a drama that could capture the overall message of a story with camera angles and lighting, it is just so well rounded. I noticed from the beginning like how they exited the store but she went down one way and he went the other labeled "One way" and it really reflected how he felt like his life was just headed in one direction and he had no say in it and the weight of that feeling. Even the opening dialogue about how we learn about people by watching their backs and we're always shown his back, from the intro to now. He started out moving around the office and doing things but we could only see him from behind and that alone allowed us to paint a picture of a stressed and lonely man. Also its interesting to note that she opens talking about how she fell in love while watching his back but its the very reason she dislikes him at first. I would love for his posture to gradually correct itself by the end as he learns to stand up for himself. How telling that would be of ones character development and how fitting it would be for the message the director and writer wish to convey.
I didn't understand the fuss about the filter, as I watch this on Disney+ and there is no filter on there, but I went to an ill*gal site and I saw the pinkish tone. I understand why some people would dislike that, but think of it like it adds to the story. This drama along with Island is my favourite right now. What a time to be a fan!

Please use a normal filter. Otherwise u will get low rating just because of the odd color grading you use.

Sungkyung die hard fan Mar 03 2023 11:48 pm This story is just pure perfect. The story is slow but that what it makes it more interesting, it is slow but nicely slow and not boring. The cameraworks is so nicely done as well. Besides I've been a fan of Sungkyung since Doctors so seeing her with Youngkwang is a different level of romance, their chemistry too is very nice :"> I'm happy to see Hani of EXID here too, I'm a big fan of her as well. However, not a fan of the color grading, I get that it goes with the theme an will possible change throughout the series, but as of now it's all drenched out of saturation an hues.
Watched some of the director's previous works, and this seems to be different from her body of work - yet this could possibly be her best to date.
Great acting by the older sister sibling.

The cinematography, tone and music scoring make this drama more beautiful yet sad. I'm longing for a pure melodrama with a slow pace and introverted main characters and this drama is the answer for my waiting! Also not to mention how Lee Sung-kyung and Kim Young-kwang speak through their eyes! It's just so amazing how their eyes convey a lot of emotions in every scene.
