Sho knew he sounded hysterical. He was hysterical.
The high-pitched whine that had stole into his voice wasn't good for Sho's cool, rockstar image. Even more damaging to Sho's sexy, bad-boy image were the wings that had sprouted between his shoulder-blades overnight. Sho could have worked with a majestic set of black-feathered wings. He could have dealt with white feathers. Delicate, translucent wings were unforgivable.
The wings gleamed faintly pink when the light caught them. Sho wished that he hadn't had wall-to-wall mirrors installed in his apartment. The reflected sparkles were making his head spin.
"Sho, you need to calm down," Shoko said.
His cellphone creaked warningly as Sho's grip tightened. "Calm down? Calm down!? Shoko, I have wings!"
Shoko sighed. "It's not an ideal situation, but it's not terribly uncommon. Johnny's boys always manage their wing phase well."
Sho gave a strangled shout. His wings fluttered in agitation. Tiny bells chimed with every flutter. "Are you my manager or not? Fix this! Do something before the entire world realizes that Sho Fuwa has fairy wings!"
Shoko hummed thoughtfully. "Fairy wings shouldn't be too difficult to hide," she said. "I'll call wardrobe, and we'll work something out before your appearance this evening."
Sho saw pink. Sparkly pink. He swore and threw his cellphone at the mirrored wall. The cellphone broke. The mirror continued to reflect Sho's red face and shimmering wings. How was Japan's number one sex symbol supposed to face his adoring public with such pathetically tiny wings? Such wings were better suited to a little girl, still full of girlish dreams! A girl like Kyoko!
Sho's eyes widened. Fairy wings. He had fairy wings. And who was obsessed with fairies? Who had sworn revenge against Sho? Kyoko! Who but Kyoko would dare think of cursing Sho with such humiliating, unmanly wings! She had realized that Sho's star was beyond her reach, now and forever, and had tried to destroy him with a pathetic pair of wings.
He might have admired her daring if Kyoko hadn't decided to pit herself against Sho Fuwa.
