Hollywood C21 Bid - Fashion Show details to whet your appetite

This was posted today by Batty (the Batty of AZAC fame) on the FB groups and I wanted all of *YOU* to see it as well. If you have questions, suggestions or just want to chime in this is the time to speak up! We have quite the treat lined up for you, so here is what Batty has planned should we be the winning C21 bid:

"As the fashion show liaison for the c21 hollywood bid I want you guys to know that we have a fashion show planned that's DEAD sexy tribute to hollywood's horror legacy. We'll invite you to our ghoulish "graveyard of fame" as ghosts of the past echo in fashions so terrifying and tantalizing you'll have to pry them from our cold dead hands. So designers, if we should win, gear up to strut your stuff on our black carpet!"

Convergence Bid - Hollywood; Dead Stars

In 2015 we invite you to come along for the ride to the City of Lost Angels for a weekend of debauchery that could only happen in Hollywood.

Tinsel town to some, Babylon to others, no other place in America is so defined by glitz, glamour and sweet wicked excess. Pop culture is Hollywood’s primary export, but daring artists have always toiled on the fringes to make more ambitious provocative work. Between classic film noir, horror and suspense masterpieces, to the blockbusters of today Hollywood has it all. From the Sunset Strip rock `n` roll, to the new waves of punk, goth and deathrock. You only have to choose the soundtrack for your Hollyweird dreams and nightmares.

Hollywood isn’t a place so much as a vortex of desire. A place of both shadow and substance. For every star on the Walk of Fame there are a thousand broken hearts and even more delusions of fame shattered. Once the cameras stop flashing and the crowds no longer cheer the suffocating silence almost strangles. Veiled in wait is the wicked passion of Hollywood.

The lure of opulence and stardom with the coveted mysterious mansion just off the famous Mulholland Drive could for some satiate their fascination. But not you. You aren’t like most people, and you certainly aren’t easily satisfied. You hear the dark lure vibrating from the womb of Hollywood. You are drawn through the dark turns and the noise of this wicked little town, to the fading light to where the dead stars still burn. You are compelled to carry out nefarious acts by the siren song of this lustrous deceptive playground that is unlocked with the key of your imagination.

Join us on these boulevards of broken dreams as we celebrate the heart of darkness that lies behind the curtain. For one brief weekend in May we will share an all encompassing drive to party like the rock stars that we are.

'Do you wanna party
It's party time
We gotta party
It's party time!"

Fall fashion scouting report...

In fashiony news: I stopped in at TJ Maxx, today, on a whim, to discover a nicely inexpensive wonderland of gothy goodness! A lot of black lace in evidence, both as detailing and indeed featured as a main fabric on dresses, tops, and skirts. Lots of slim black trousers with (faux) leather detailing, lots of that (faux) leather showing up, again both as trimming and as a main material. For lovers of the stripey and/or graphic black & white look, there's also plenty to love for you lot. Dresses, skirts, tops, and sweaters in abundance!

Last week I was in both h&m and forever 21, and noticed similar abundance of black, lacy, and/or stripey and also still a lot of houndstooth.
For those of us goths willing to dabble in trends and colours, the <href="http://www.pantone.com/pages/fcr.aspx?pg=21058&ca=4">Pantone Fall 2013 palette</a> has a few colours of particular interest to us gothy types. The palette features, among others: Samba, a bright red (I'm all over red & black, lovelovelove it as a combo); Acai, a deep dark luscious purple; Vivacious, for the lovers of bright fuschia pink; and Turbulence, for those of us that delve into grey when we want an alternative to black. (I'm going to crosspost the fashion stuff to gothfash & agf.

Fall 2013 is certainly going to be good to us this year, pretty much at all price points, from the looks of things!

A Potential Wardrobe Gem in an Unexpected Place

The Kardashian Kollection at Sears currently has a lush velvet bolero jacket on super clearance, and there is much gothy potential there - it would probably look great with a corset. They only have the purple online, but it's a very nice deep jewel purple, and they had a couple of black ones left in my local store. It does tend toward narrow sleeves, if you typically have problems with that as I do. The velvet is really nice, though, heavy and with a good drape.
