This is an AU/Crossover RP. It takes place shortly after the end of Final Fantasy VII, and two years before Advent Children is set.
Jenova has been defeated, and her prodigy, Sephiroth, sent to his grave. However, in the aftermath of war, other problems are quickly shoving their way to the forefront. A new epidemic, the Geostigma, is spreading through out the nations.
In Midgar, the concentration of the infected is higher than anywhere else. Combined with the after effects of a brutal war, spearheaded by Midgar's large rest cooperation, Shinra, the city is in rapid decline and unable to care for its population. Orphans roam the streets, many infected with the deadly disease, while in the surviving upper sectors, the upper class continues on with forced oblivion to the situation. Even as Midgar economically collapses, they struggle to maintain status and wealth, while outsiders find new inroads into controlling the city.
Shinra itself seems largely absent from the overall scheme of things, though the cooperation is known to be rebuilding and trying to reestablish its reputation in a now distrustful world. But without the energy of the Lifestream, it flounders publicly.
Though set in the FFVII/Advent Children universe, the Player Characters of this game will be from the anime, Prince Of Tennis. Characters from FFVII/Advent Children will not be available to for game play.
Characters may be from any of the major cities, however the game itself will take place in Midgar.
Character ages should range between late teens to early twenties. Some may be former SOLDIER members, survivors of the war with Jenova, while others are decedents of SOLDIERs and every day people. Shinra has scientists working for them, including a team built around discovering the cause and cures of the Geostigma. There is also an influx of outsiders, from Costa del Sol, the Gold Saucer and other cities, searching for their fortunes in the streets of Midgar.
Geostigma
The Geostigma does not affect every member of the population, only those with some connection to Jenova. Specifically it shows up on members of SOLDIER and their offspring, starting out as a small, blackish-green rash on the skin. The rash is initially mild, dry, and flakes off a blackish powder. It is non-contagious, however this fact is not known at the time. As time progresses, the Geostigma will grow. It will affect different characters at different rates.
The closer a character is to having Jenova's genes in their body -- aka, members of SOLDIER that joined while Jenova's DNA was still being inoculated -- the more severe the effects.
Growth will happen in these stages:
Cracking, itching, general irritation Gradual spreading to a larger area of the body Open wounds, bleeding, a slight greenish glow Death [the Geostigma must cover the majority of the body for this to happen]
At this time, Shinra is aware of the Geostigma and it's link to SOLDIER, but is unsure of the cause or the cure. Many members of SOLDIER have progressed rapidly, especially second and third generation SOLDIERs who have been inoculated with Jenova's DNA on top of the genes that their parent[s] in SOLDIER have provided. Some have already died; others are quarantined and kept sequestered away from the public so as not to arouse any further fear or hatred towards the cooperation.
However, the Geostigma is now starting to appear in the public, specifically the children of SOLDIER. Shinra is aware of the link, but says nothing. While they offer to treat some of the surviving family members, the majority of the war orphans in the lower slum sectors go without aid.
Despite the formal denial of involvement, Shinra Corp has established a team of doctors to investigate the Geostigma. Headed by Aoi Hanamura, this five member team treats family members and SOLDIER employees, while searching out the war orphans to gather more information on the cause of the Geostigma. However, without any remaining pieces of Jenova, they're treatments are little more than ways to disguise the pain and delay the eventual, inevitable death.
1. Respect other players, first and foremost. Not everyone will come into this game with the same level of knowledge about Final Fantasy VII or Advent Children, or even Prince of Tennis. 2. FFVII/Advent Children characters are NOT available for RP, nor will Player Characters interact with them unless mod approved. 3. Materia ownership will require mod approval. Grey materia may be owned by anyone. Please see the Materia post for more information. 4. Posting/logging requirements:
a. No requirement for regular updates, but do let us know that you're alive. b. Character journals should be written in first person. c. Information placed behind an lj-cut and marked either private or addressed to a specific character should be considered filtered to only to those mentioned in the cut unless the player states otherwise. d. Logs should be written in third person, using appropriate English grammar and spelling. e. Logs will be posted on advent_princes; please use an appropriate header and include a rating. NC17 logs are not discouraged, though it would be nice if they have something to do with an overall plot for the characters involved. The bulk of the log should be placed behind an lj-cut. f. Do NOT god mod/take control of another player's character without permission.
5. The RP takes place/starts in the city of Midgar, even if Player Characters are not from Midgar originally. 6. Hiatus: Players need to inform the mods of being on hiatus, either through email, personal IM, or by posting a hiatus notice on the ooc comm, advent_ooc. 7. All other ooc activity, ergo introductions, general plotting, etc, should also be placed in advent_ooc. Suggestions for major plots are welcome, just speak to either of the mods. 8. Rules are subject to updating until the mods actually know what they are doing. 9. As of 01.07, this game has become a private / invite-only game. There is no application or charactger reservations. Please contact the mods if you are interested in joining. Character availability is first come, first serve.
