A random Oscar reaction (or two)

I may have been the only one who noticed, but I was ridiculously excited that "I can't go on" from Smash was sung by Jennifer Hudson last night after the In Memoriam segment.  I know that they changed the words and such, but she killed that song on the show and it's such a good song.  It deserves not to die with the show.

I hardly ever see any of the movies involved in the Oscars, save some of the animated ones, but I did manage to see the winning short documentary about the veteran's crisis hotline and I was happy to see some fellow feds getting some recognition for the work they are doing.  There are a lot of feds out there doing really good things and getting tarred with the ugly brush because of who their employer is.

A long show last night, and no real surprises, as I understand it, but all in all, not too bad.

The Oscars -- randomness

I cannot believe I stayed up and saw that whole show last night.  Even with the DVR it took forever.  It was a good thing I had the day off today to wait for an insurance guy.  I am in the midst of painting Jillian's room, which I will finish as soon as I post.

So, the Oscars.  Very random thoughts:
  • Zoe Saldana's dress was not good.  Not good.
  • Carey Mulligan has the exact same nose as her mother.  Like whoa!
  • Kristen Stewart looked better than she often does, but that girl needed some jewelry.  Necklace, earrings, bracelet, something!
  • Oprah made Gabby cry on the Oscars.  Not cool!
  • What was with that crazy lady with the red hair and purple caftan in the short documentary category?  The guy looked like he didn't even know her.
  • NPH is everywhere!  Will that get old soon?
  • The hosts were hardly anywhere.
  • Surprisingly, the scripted presenter stuff was not horrible and even amusing at times.
  • What was with Molly Ringwald?  Was she injured?  Did her dress attack her?  Also, I could not figure out what happened with that final thing -- she didn't speak and then Matthew Broderick and someone else were talking as they exited.
  • The League of Extraordinary Dancers are extraordinary, but I'm not sure about that whole dance sequence.
  • Sandra Bullock made me teary, and yet she still pulled out the funny.
  • Kathryn Bigelow seemed to really like Barbra.
  • Those Hurt Locker actors were really, really happy.  Good for them.
Really, my only complaint is that the show was sort of predictable.  Didn't really seem like any good surprises.  *sigh*
