My Dad LOVED Sherlock Holmes. He read his books over and over again. Had a couple of Sherlock Holmes hats and pipes and took us to see practically EVERY Sherlock Holmes movie ever made. Some of them were complete bombs - like Sherlock Holmes Younger Brother. When I was in England in March 2000. I took a special trip JUST to see 221B Baker Street, where they had a museum. It bored the two girls I dragged with me, but it was fascinating to me. I took a ton of pictures to show Dad when I got home. I also got some souvenirs. Alas, when I went to show him my treasures that I did in honor of him (because if he could have gone, he would have wanted to see them), he was in a dementia state. It was sad really because he didn't seem to grasp the scope of what I did for him. When he got back to clarity, I was off to something new. The only thing he really got from the trip was a pin I attached to his favorite hat and I think a book I bought for him. The pictures were all ready filed away at that point.
One of the cutest things that I got (supposedly from Dad to Mom) was this crown pin that I got at the Tower of London. It was so tacky and not the best quality, but then, Dad never did have the best taste in things to get women. Joanne and I always bought Dad gifts to give to Mom - things we knew Mom would like. Yes, it is strange to get a souvenir for your mother that is like from your father, but that first trip to England, all I could think of was Dad would just LOVE this.
So, in honor of Dad, my sister, Joanne wanted all of us to go see Robert Downey, Jr's Sherlock Holmes. She said she mainly wanted to see it for Rachel McAdams --- I wanted to see it for Robert. Both of us wanted to see it because it was Sherlock Holmes.
This is one movie that a history buff HAS TO SEE!!! It is a movie that fans of Robert Downey, Jr HAVE TO SEE!!! This movie is better than the trailer! Some movies the trailer is great and the movie sucks - this is not that movie. I loved every moment of it. Joanne and Toria wanted to fall a sleep. They are not into costume dramas like me. Mom and I both agreed that Dad would have loved it. This is a definite BUY when it comes out on video. Also I liked how it had Mark Strong (who is in A&E's Emma, to name just one of many movies he is in), Kelly Reilly (who I met in March of 2000 when she played in a London play with Matt Rhys - only a Horatian would see the best friend of a Indy boy if they couldn't watch a play starring an Indy Boy), William Houston (who was with Richard Armitage in North and South) and Hans Matheson (who is hot in his own right). Action, adventure and I like how it paid homage not only to London, but to Sherlock Holmes genre. Yeah, go see it!

I am sititng here on the sofa in our hotel room on the last day in Key West. I was going to write this from the balcony but I couldn't see my screen with the sea and palm trees wall paper through the light and view of real palm trees.
As always what I want to tell in here changes by the time I get to a computer. I usually write down all my thoughts in my notebook as I have them. I thought with this net book, I could write them down right away. As with many vacations you spent more time vacationing than being on the internet. The time spent on the net is to check two sites real quick and if you normally check like 6 or so, so of them get to the way side.
My Mom says I shouldn't write true thoughts and feelings on my blog and the same is said for my Horatian buds - well, the ones I am vacationing with, at least. I find that writing down my feelings and happenings with life actually helps me in life. I get valuable advice from all of you on some topics that I feel I can't always ask my family about.
And now for what has happened in Key West --
I didn't think that flying down here would be tiring, but it was. I got here Wednesday night and spoke with my buddies. Thursday we went for a tour on the Conch train. Will talk more in a bit because at 5 pm in the afternoon they are just getting to cleaning our room and we just got back the pool.

Looking youthful doesn't just come to me, but to my co-worker, Tina. Tina is around my age and yesterday, a customer came to her and said excitingly - "This product is great. When you get to be my age, you will understand how great it is that this product takes some years off your age."
I had to stiffle a giggle. This lady was so much younger than me and she was saying - When you get to be my age? So, I just HAD to tell her how old I was. She dropped her jaw. She did say I looked 30. She did tell me her age - it was 43. Man, is that lady old! What age did I think she was -- about 38. Maybe when she gets to be 47, she will look 40. If she keeps using that product, it may reverse her age completely.
Yes, this is a bit snarky, but, it really is bit interesting.
It is better to look younger than older. I pity the gal who looked like she was 40, when she was only 21. Example have you seen Lindsay Lohan's "little" sister? The chick is still a teenager and looks like she is old enough to be her own Mom!

Writer's Block: Airplane reading
If you're going on a long plane or road trip, what sort of reading materials do you bring along? Is it different from what you usually read? Will you watch a trashy movie or read a bad novel or magazines just to pass the time?
My father always said bring your book when we went on road trips. It was always up to us to keep ourselves entertained. So, it didn't matter what type of book or magazine that we brought with us. That is why I always bring stuff to entertain. I bring a magazine (either something like Glamour or Star Magazine) and a reading book (two if it is a week long trip). Sometimes I also bring a puzzle book or deck of cards. I also bring my I-pod and I just got a netbook, so that will be coming with me, too. I will be well entertained. :D
Yes, I will watch a trashy move or bad magazine to pass the time. Sometimes trashy movies are a lot of fun. BUT - I won't read a bad novel. If a book doesn't hold my interest, I can't read it because then I can't concentrate because it's like looking at a bunch of words for me.

My username is:DreamyBritActor. I wanted to get the user name on my other forums, but I couldn't get it. I wanted a name I could easily remember and said something about my interests. I later thought that I could have tried a variation of my LadyJamers name, but I am happy with DreamyBritActor because I do like them and it IS an easy name to remember.
My journal name is: "Dreamy British Actors and Other interests of mine." I treat this as my blog. It's for my hopes, dreams and even nightmares. THAT is where the OTHER interests come from. But, besides me, I sometimes write about actors - especially dreamy British ones and when I think about them.
My title is: I have a / in my name because I didn't just want to go by my real name and didn't just want to go by my LJ name -- So, it is DreamyBritActor/Jamie
My friends page is called: "My Buddies" Simple and to the point because after all -- you are my buddies (GROUP HUG!!!) I originally had it be something nautical, but I thought it was a bit silly.
My default icon is:

I like my default icon to be basically about what I really like and WHO for that matter. I like James McAvoy and I LOVE the look on his face as he is dancing. It speaks volumes and he is a British Actor and dreamy, too!
(this part I snagged from Jean) -- Also, I realized when I did this picture meme here, I forgot to offer to tag others! Ask and ye shall receive an actor/character to fill it out fer yerselves!
