In other related news, Sunday marks the posting date for my History Big Bang (or Pirates 1.5 as I've come to call it).  I'm looking forward to being able to put that aside.  It's been betaed and revised and picked apart and now, I'm ready to get it posted and transferred into the 'done' pile.

In unrelated news, whoever replaced the muscles in my upper back with steel rods, I want moveable muscles back please.  I mean, seriously, it's sore and I can't even stretch it out.  Gits!  Tomorrow, there will be house cleaning and someone will be here to do some gardening.  Also, thinking of getting the Clinique Anti-Blemish pack tomorrow.  Anyone heard anything good or bad about it?

For better or worse, I signed up to do some more Big Bangs.

At the moment, it's looking like there's going to be two Big Bangs for the Kradam Big Bang challenge, but I'm not going to be starting those until I'm finished the one that I'm working on now.

Back in March last year, I signed up to do the History Big Bang. 10,000 words in a year. That's totally doable, right? Yeah... I finally started it while I was on my Christmas holidays. So far, I'm not doing too badly. I'm over 10,000 words at the moment and I'm about half way through-ish and I'm aiming to get it finished by the end of January. It's a side story to last years Kradam Big Bang story, The Highest of Seas, The Lowest of Men.

Tails of the Captain’s Daughter

The worth of a man is in his ability to survive.

Lieutenant Bradley Bell is heir to a proud family tradition of loyal service in the British Navy with more salt-water than blood in his veins. Unfortunately the Navy proves to be no place for a free spirit with wits as sharp as his blade. Trapped on a ship with a sadistic Captain and a corrupt Marine Major, Brad finds himself eager for a new career.

The villainous pirate Captain Adam Lambert earnt his title with cunning and ruthless determination, and more than a small amount of luck. He has a keen eye for treasure but when Fate brings him a wounded though fierce Lieutenant instead of riches and gold, will both their prayers be answered?

In short, it's the story of how Brad came to be on board The Madness.  But at the moment, I'm waiting for someone to claim the summary.  Claiming has been very slow, but that's always a problem with multi-fandom communities.  So, if you know people who might be willing to claim it, throw them the link?  Please?

After that, I'm going to be working on the second part of The Highest of Seas, The Lowest of Men.  It's time to get the boys back together and give them their happy-ever-after.  So far, I'm happy with what's coming out in terms of the story, but it's looking like it's going to be another long story.

And just for a little variation, Ara has managed to convince me that Silver Bullets and Circuitry needs a sequel.  *grin*  We've got a few ideas kicking around but we need to sit down and properly work out which of the many future stories for the boys we're going to tell.  It's going to be fun!

Summary: In all the seas in all the world, there exists no pirate more feared or hated than the Villainous Captain Lambert of The Madness. Tales of his cunning and the black magic that grants him his success are known across the world. Some say that he is devil-born, others that he was cursed as a boy to sail the seas in search of redemption but all agree that to cross paths with The Madness and her white-garbed captain is to know damnation, death and utter despair.

Lieutenant Kristopher Allen, of her Majesty's ship The Hawk, knows all the stories and was once counted amongst the rare few to survive his first encounter with the Villainous Captain. Many tides have passed since then and Kris is burdened with more worldly concerns. His childhood friend, now his fiancée, Katy needs his protection and Kris' duty calls him to sea and battle with the pirate menace in the waters around his Charles Towne home.

He has worries enough for any man but Kris' luck is running out. A wounded Hawk is easy prey and his home port may lie beyond his reach. Kris escaped the Villainous Captain once, but it is surely beyond the hope of any man to survive a second encounter?

This is possibly the most researched story that I have ever written and I am now the proud owner of at least a dozen books on pirates in general, pirates in specific, the British Navy and sailing. My mum died yesterday at 17:00, at peace and in no pain. 

She was looked after wonderfully by the staff of the Mater Private's ITU. 

She'll be in repose in McMahon's Funeral Home in Cavan on Tuesday. 

Removal to the Virginia Parish Church to arrive there at 7pm on Tuesday night. 

Mass and Burial are at 11am on Wednesday. 

No flowers, donations to Virginia Primary Care Center.
