My husband's firm has been the victims of a ransom cyber attack and they now are thinking about changing their security people for IT (their IT people are having trouble coming up with good backups, ugh)- so anybody have any recs for good geeks who work NYC and environs? (Is this you?)

One of my oldest friends: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dballing probably has contacts who can help; ping him through LinkedIn or via me (wenchita at gmail) and tell him Ali sent you. :-)

Not in NYC, but we use Carbonite business for both server and laptop backups (desktop users should be saving to the server), and it's GREAT. Set-and-forget remote backups.

Not sure how large your husband's company is, but I know we tend to bring in Sayers for consulting services when our IT guys want a second opinion about security (we house confidential datasets so if our system is penetrated, we have no more business). We've found them to be pretty good (if pricey). They have a Boston office, but no NYC office so not positive how useful they'll be: http://www.sayers.com/

D: How awful!

Totally irrelevantly, hey, are you coming to Escapade again? It was great to see you last year. Don't suppose I can tempt you into another interminable plane trip?
