Current requests for reduction in protection level

edit
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because ....... . Buldok465 (talk) 15:30, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Request for unprotection of the article Oscar Piastri. The Formula 1 season has already ended, and the article has not been edited for approximately ten days. There have been no recent signs of vandalism or disruptive editing. I believe the page could now be safely unprotected and opened to normal editing again. Thank you.

Have you discussed this with the protecting admin? Courtesy ping to @Dr vulpes:. - The Bushranger One ping only 22:49, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping @The Bushranger. @Buldok465 I don't really see a reason to remove the protection from the article. It's a highly trafficked page, a BLP article, and has a history of vandalism. Maybe changing the protection down to pending changes would be a good middle ground? Dr vulpes (Talk) 01:16, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Reason: The page was semi-protected indefinitely on January 26, 2016, by Graham87 with the reason "persistent insertion of advertising text over many years". I think the situation is now over, especially considering that ten years have passed... Paranoid25 (talk) 10:42, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

edit

Hello, I'd like to request autopatrolled rights, seeing as I've made 32 mainspace articles, none of which are stubs (I do not rate my own created pages). Thus far, I've focused on creating pages related to music, most of which pertain to WP:Albums. Thanks, Fundgy (talk) 06:10, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

Quick note about Rough Trade Records soundtracks. That was meant to be a category but I forgot to add "Category:" in front, so I requested its deletion myself. Fundgy (talk) 06:17, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
Done. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:04, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I was recently recommended by Aszx5000 on my talk page to apply for Autopatrolled permission. I have made about 6,700 edits and authored 88 articles and counting, which I always aim to publish at C or B class quality. I believe I have a strong understanding of relevant policy which I'm always striving to improve, and am always open to feedback and correction. Cheers! Johnson524 07:19, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) Can't believe I missed this! @Johnson524 has 18 GAs to date and 86 total mainspace creations, of which none have been deleted. Their articles, such as Dobropillia offensive, are extremely well-written and are researched to a high standard with verifiable sources. My previous interactions with them have been positive. Their draft Draft:Durrr Burger was criticised for not meeting WP:GNG and having MOS:IN-U problems, but they took the feedback very well. I hope @Johnson524 doesn't mind me saying that I think they deserve AP! 11WB (talk) 23:21, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
Done. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:08, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

My name is The Knowledge Pirate. I was previously known as Scorpions13256, and Scorpions1325. Since I created my first account in 2010, I have created 77 active articles. None have been deleted, and I have not had any issues brought to my attention about my articles since I started editing with this account. I have 7 DYK's, but no GA or FA's. Other articles include Mamie Colvin, Turner County High School, and Nettie Johnson. I understand WP:GNG and WP:BLP better than I did when I became more prolific in 2020, and I think getting this right will save reviewers a lot of work. Once I am done with a long-term project, I intend to create a lot more articles. The Knowledge Pirate (talk) 20:32, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

Done. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:15, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Hello! I would like to request autopatrolled rights. I have authored 29 articles thus far and have enjoyed being part of the Wikipedia community for the last few years. I have a particular interest in creating and editing articles on the music, literature, and history of Scandinavia and Iceland (being multilingual, I am able to make use of sources in all the relevant languages). I have a solid understanding of WP:GNG and WP:BLP and strive to create high-quality articles that meet content and sourcing standards. I hope my work demonstrates that I am able to work independently and produce good articles according to the guidelines. I am always open to feedback and instructions, and do my best to interact with others here in a friendly and civil manner. Thanks! Cosimoprimo (talk) 12:01, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

Done. Make sure you create talk pages with wikiproject tags for new articles now that patrollers won't be doing it. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:26, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, and yes absolutely! Cosimoprimo (talk) 22:21, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

I have created 49 mainspace pages as of this; and I have more on my to-create list as well. I am also a Page mover and an AfC reviewer; both of which involve moving pages which mostly always leaves behind redirects needing to reviewed as well. I am also a NPP reviewer and I know that the unreviewed redirects backlog is pretty much always bigger than the articles backlog. So, I want to help reduce them by having my page creations auto-patrolled. Thanks! Vestrian24Bio 12:56, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Done. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:32, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Over 127 Articles created, i found no problem with any of the user article that will require a Patroller, only 4 deleted when user newly started editing on wikipedia then he had no experience. Destinyokhiria 💬 15:17, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) This editor creates album articles for primarily Nigerian artists. They are well written and have what appear to be reasonable sources. I am unfamiliar with media in Nigeria, so I can't comment on reliability. The deleted articles @Destinyokhiria mentions are from 2021-22 and were deleted for copyvio, advertising and a test page. There is nothing on their talk page that would be a red flag for AP, so I think it can be given without too much worry! Thank you @OsigbemheEJB for your contributions to Wikipedia and seasons greetings! 🎄 11WB (talk) 07:12, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
Requests for AutoWikiBrowser access

AutoWikiBrowser

edit

I am requesting AutoWikiBrowser access to assist with high-volume, non-controversial maintenance and cleanup work that is inefficient to do manually, including routine formatting and copyediting fixes consistent with the MOS, straightforward citation-template and reference formatting corrections that do not change meaning, clear link and disambiguation fixes where the correct target is obvious from context, and basic template or category housekeeping when the changes are purely mechanical; I will review edits before saving, use clear edit summaries, avoid contentious areas and biographies of living persons except for unquestionably safe mechanical changes, and pause to seek talk page consensus if any edit pattern is questioned or could reasonably be disputed. Hello. I am requesting the AutoWikiBrowser permission to help me more easily perform repetitive maintenance on category pages and to help me find, add, remove, and replace categories in articles. That being said, I plan to only make edits where I can assure my actions are accurate. I have read through all the WP:AWBRULES and will accept responsibility for every edit I make with AWB. Hello there, I'm requesting AWB to mass retarget a bunch of Wikilinks for a page swap, I think it could also be useful in the future in the event I need to do something similar. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 00:41, 23 December 2025 (UTC)

@Aydoh8 FYI, you can use Move+ or DisamAssist for this. HurricaneZetaC 00:51, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
@HurricaneZeta: Neither of those do what I need to do. See WP:RMTR for more context. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 00:55, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
Basically, page A was moved from B, with B now being a redirect to C (rather than to A), and I need to swap C and B. I need to retarget the links from B to A (not B to C). Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 00:58, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
Aydoh8 I just finished retargeting all the links with DisamAssist and I think it's better than AWB when working with pipes and anchored links (there's probably some regex to do that, but I suck at it), but AWB is useful for a lot of other things. HurricaneZetaC 14:59, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
@HurricaneZeta Thank you. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 02:56, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

I don't understand why the following pages were reviewed/accepted: Dean Roy, Aarron Deliu and Succes Nic Com. Per that, based on a cursory look, I'm leaning decline. Sohom (talk) 08:16, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
(The above note was worded poorly), I find the review/accepts at Dean Roy, Aarron Deliu and Succes Nic Com to be low effort and "easy" reviews that were only done after the AFDs were initiated by other folks. I think there is a general lack of depth in the AFD participation and NPP work shown here which makes me trend towards a decline. Sohom (talk) 10:28, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
I reviewed all of them after checking for copyvio, per copyvio material don't belong in any namespace, also I sorted them in User:Destinyokhiria/Reports, also in Succes Nic Com which i participated in the AFD Discussion, please ping me when replying as i don't always get the notification. I am super active in reviewing and patrolling changes. Actively reviewing AFC now, and the reason why I apply for this access as I could help reduce the log for new pages, because many auto-confirmed articles are being created from these categories. I would focus on entertainment and India-related topics. AlphaCore talk 22:49, 12 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I am an active editor familiar with New Pages Patrolling and the relevant policies, including WP:NPP, WP:GNG, WP:BLP, and WP:RS. I regularly assess drafts and new pages for notability, sourcing, and promotional or problematic content.

With the current backlog of unreviewed new pages, I believe I can help reduce the load by carrying out careful, policy based reviews. Thank you for your consideration. Pizza on Pineapple (Let's eat🍕) 11:02, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

Done for a three-month trial. But pizza does not belong on pineapple (nor vice versa). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:57, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

I was granted trial permissions for one month on 11/21, and as of now I have reviewed 172+ pages (mostly redirects I categorized, checked, and approved but also some articles I checked notability and edited to make passable). I would like to request a renewal or non-time-limited permissions. KyleSirTalksAlot (talk) 13:35, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Hi there, I’d like to request New Page reviewer permissions.

I’ve been doing regular maintenance work, including adding and fixing reliable sources, addressing broken citations, and tagging drafts and articles for notability, sourcing, and BLP issues. I've spend time reading through and becoming familiar with the relevant policies (WP:V WP:RS WP:N WP:BLP) and apply them carefully when reviewing content.

I’d like to assist with reviewing new pages and drafts to help manage the backlog. Happy to receive any feedback. Much appreciated. Regards, AtlasReviewer (talk) 07:46, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done, I have nothing to go on here to gauge your understanding of notability, no new articles, no AFD participation. As a result, I can't really give you a right that has nominating unworthy articles for deletion as one of it's primary functions. Sohom (talk) 15:10, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

I'm active as a recent changes patroller, as well as in WP:GOCE. i've written a few articles myself and would love the opportunity to help bring others up to par for inclusion on WP! i'm pretty well acquainted with the MOS and wikipedia's policies more generally at this stage, and think i could do a good job at communicating them to those creating new pages where relevant. i've participated in deleting articles once or twice and am familiar with the policies around that, as well as article merges and the like. i've made 1 previous request which was declined for having too few mainspace edits - i believe i should meet that criteria now.  Done for a one-month trial. Btw, make sure you warn vandals when appropriate. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:08, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

I would like to request an extension of my temporary new page reviewer rights, which are set to expire at the end of the month. I'm requesting this a bit early because I've seen these requests get backed up before and I would like to be able to participate in the upcoming NPP backlog drive in January. I was given a generous two-month trial; I reviewed a few dozen redirects and a few geology articles back in November, while this month I've done just over 50 reviews (so far) for the AfC backlog drive in addition to a few more geology articles (and a random one I nominated for deletion). I realize this might not be a tremendous amount of activity for two months, but my primary interest on Wikipedia remains writing and improving (mostly mineral) articles. Good morning! My three month trial period will be ending in a few days, and I would like to request an extension. I have helped substantially with the backlog and I would like to continue with that. Although I had some difficulties getting starting, I think I now have a better understanding of the rules, and I would love to continue to learn. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Requests for page mover

Page mover

edit

Hi, I'm a trial NPP and AFC reviewer and doing new page patrol requires moving some articles to draft for better improvements as they're not suitable in the main space, it will be more better if I can move articles without leaving redirects. This right would also be helpful for when I close RMs so that I don't need to request the move be performed at WP:RM/TR afterwards, as well as potentially helping out with moves there myself. I appreciate that you are relative new to participation in RMs, so wanted to ask a couple of questions here. I noticed this multi-page RM had the main navbox cleaned up by another editor 3 days later rather than shortly after the move, so do you have experience with post move cleanup and can you point to diffs where you have implemented this when closing RMs? Can you also describe me to the sort of cleanup that is needed when disambiguating a primary topic? Regards, CNC (talk) 13:15, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks @HurricaneZeta for the Ping, @CNC Per you Question I did a couple of Post move Cleanup, the ones you listed above was something I forgot to do, these are some post move cleanup I did (1, 2,
3), your other question, which you asked when disambiguating a primary topic, what sort of cleanup is needed, the answer to that would be, (1) Fix mistargeted wikilinks (2) Update disambiguation pages (3) Updating hatnotes such as the use of the template {{Other uses}}. I hope these answer the questions.

Please ping me when replying Destinyokhiria 💬 22:43, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

@Destinyokhiria Thanks for your response. Your answer to disambiguating ptopic question is good, it demonstrates the necessary understanding to perform such round robin moves. But I'll be frank, those diffs are not post move cleanup as they are part of automatic removals instead, so do you have any other examples? Regards, CNC (talk) 12:00, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
Not done I'm not seeing a lot of experience or demonstrated need. 100 moves goes back six months and almost all of them are draftifying or moving AfC submissions. I'm not seeing deep involvement with RM or any other process that would require this permission. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:12, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

Hiya, I'm a frequent at WP:AFC so I think this might be helpful for moving pages over redirects with history and suppressing redirects to help reduce the admin workload with R2 and G6 deletions. I'd also like to help out a bit at RM/TR since it can have a big backlog at times, and to be able to create editnotices as well. Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

edit

I would like to request the Pending Changes Reviewer permission. I am an extended confirmed user with over 550 edits, mainly focused on biographies, Indian politics, legislation, and sourcing from reliable secondary sources.

I regularly work on semi-protected and sensitive articles and would like to help review pending edits to reduce backlog and ensure compliance with Wikipedia’s policies on neutrality, verifiability, and biographies of living persons.

I am familiar with core content policies such as WP:NPOV, WP:V, WP:BLP, and WP:RS, and I will use this permission carefully and only for clearly constructive edits. دثلميح (talk) 04:06, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Rollback

edit

I would like this right because it is required for many anti-vandalism scripts/programs, such as WikiShield and Huggle. This will allow me to be more efficient when reverting. Speedrunz (talk) 01:35, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done. You're still quite new and there are several recent warnings and notices on your talk page. New blood is always welcome but it would be best if you gain a bit more experience before requesting permissions, especially ones that allow access to powerful tools. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:23, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

I would like to become a rollbacker for a few reasons.

  1. I already fight vandalism and have been patrolling RecentChanges for some time, and I would like to be able to fight vandalism at a more efficient rate
  2. I am relatively experienced with Wikipedia, having hundreds of mainspace edits and more than 1000 edits in total
  3. I have not been in an edit war for a long time, and remember to notify users whenever I am reverting their edits due to them not being constructive.
  4. I am already a pending changes reviewer, so I can spot and revert vandalism before it is seen by too many people, and being able to use tools like AntiVandal will make it even easier for me to spot and remove vandalism, as I can also easily filter it out.

That is why I would like to be a rollbacker. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 13:01, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Not done Given User_talk:Theeverywhereperson#Mass reversions challenging your existing revert decisions I don't think it's appropriate to grant you tools to revert stuff even faster at this time. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:59, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
@Pppery That was an accident. I noticed a TA randomly reverting stuff at speed. This meant that I made a boatload of mistakes. I know it might not be appropriate, but I was not able to get any clues, so really, this was partly my fault, partly the TAs for not saying a thing. They just did stuff. I'm not trying to do anything bad, it was really just a lapse in judgement. I was going to review some of my edits before reverting. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 07:07, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
I meant any edits that I thought needed reverting next time. I knew I mass reverted indiscriminately and did that, but that's the past now. I didn't realise that, but those decisions were made on an assumption which was based off the fact that they were removing info at such a speed that I didn't have time to review all of them, meaning that they may have made some more unexplained content removals. (Put in short, They were removing info very quickly, so I could not review them so fast. Please forgive me.) Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 07:11, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
My decline stands. Even, or some would say especially, if you have rollback it's important to prioritize accuracy over speed. Perhaps when that's further in the past I could forgive you for it, but not now. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:13, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
When would you, @Pppery:? I would be happy to be forgiven eventually and get the status. (Not that I have any bad intentions, and I do want to get it in the next couple of months) Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 15:31, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
I am not willing to commit to any specific time frame. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:32, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
That's fine, I don't really need a specific time frame. But when that day comes, I am willing for us to cooperate and we can get some conditions on which I can work to, at which point when they are satisfied (with no specific time frame) I could be forgiven and I can get the permission. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 15:34, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
@Pppery:? Are you going to respond? Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 15:37, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
(FYI I didn't get that ping, and it's unreasonable to expect me to respond to a comment in 3 minutes even if I happened to see that comment in 1 minute). Let's cross that bridge when we get to it. If you make a second request then most likely some admin other than me will handle it, and they will look at the incident with a fresh set of eyes. I'm done arguing with you here; this discussion has gone on long passed its usefulness. * Pppery * it has begun... 17:10, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting rollback rights to more efficiently combat vandalism on English Wikipedia. I am an experienced editor and currently hold Rollbacker, Autopatroller, and Pending Changes Reviewer rights on the Bengali Wikipedia, where I have a proven track record of using advanced tools responsibly. On ENWP, I am frequently involved in reverting disruptive edits using RedWarn; however, several high-traffic pages I have created are currently experiencing a high volume of blatant vandalism and "bot-like" disruptive edits. Having the native rollback tool would allow me to clear these malicious edits from page histories much faster than manual reversion. I fully understand that rollback is strictly reserved for obvious vandalism and is not to be used in content disputes, and I am committed to upholding the WP:ROLLBACK and WP:3RR policies. Emdad Tafsir   ◀ Talk ▶ 11:02, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

i would appreciate being granted the rollback right as i am a frequent recent changes patroller and feel i would benefit from the ability to use tools such as WP:WikiShield and WP:AntiVandal in this role. i currently make use of WP:Ultraviolet, and use its existing 'rollback' functionality sparingly and only in cases of obvious vandalism. i'm consistent with providing editors with accurate and helpful warnings/feedback in cases where i revert their edits, and i try to be friendly and open to being corrected if i revert something in error. i should point out that i was also quite recently granted WP:NPR permissions. considering this, i can understand how someone might suspect me of hat collecting, however i genuinely do just enjoy working across these different feeds (NPP/RCP) in particular, and plan to use any permissions i'm granted actively and responsibly. further documentary evidence of my activities, to accompany my request, is as follows:

Although I have recently worked in AfC and article improvement, I am still mainly an anti-vandal, and it would be useful to detect the same-IP sockpuppetry that vandals often engage in. I have made a previous request which was declined because I wasn't 6 months old, but now it has almost been 7 months. Somepinkdude (talk) 17:59, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
