History
editTogether AI was founded in 2022 by a group of engineers and entrepreneurs, including Vipul Ved Prakash. The company was established to build cloud infrastructure optimized for modern generative AI workloads, particularly those based on open-source models.[4][5]
In 2023, Together AI raised a Series A funding round of approximately $102.5 million led by Kleiner Perkins. In March 2024, the company raised an additional $106 million in a funding round led by Salesforce Ventures. [6]
In February 2025, Together AI announced a $305 million Series B financing round led by General Catalyst and co-led by Prosperity7 Ventures, valuing the company at approximately $3.3 billion. The funding was reported to support expansion of compute infrastructure and platform development.[7]
Products and services
editIn April 2023, Together AI launched a project named RedPajama to reproduce and distribute an open-source version of the Llama dataset, initially containing approximately 1.2 trillion tokens.[8]
