Colloquial?
colloquially known as an address on the Web.
Never heard it called this.
Web address, yes. Nuttyskin (talk) 23:19, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
Capitalization
Based on the current content, it's inconsistent and IMO odd that URI is capitalized when spelled out: Uniform Resource Identifier, yet URL is not: uniform resource locator. IDK which is more correct, but sure seems they should follow the same rules. FWIW, on Uniform Resource Identifier, both terms are capitalized. FWIW, I lean towards less capitalization and I think that some people think that anything with an acronym should be capitalized, so I think they should both be _not_ capitalized. Who did what? and when?
WRT "The Uniform Resource Locator was defined in RFC 1738 in 1994 by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, and the URI working group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), as an outcome of collaboration started at the IETF Living Documents birds of a feather session in 1992." What does that mean? Tim defined it in 1994, ok. It was defined again in 1992? before Tim defined it? ... Is the intent that it was informally defined in 1992 in some bird session? And then codified in an RFC in 1994? Stevebroshar (talk) 10:36, 10 November 2025 (UTC)
