Area of operations

edit

Swisslog is one of the world’s leading logistics automation companies. Swisslog designs, manufactures and optimizes automated logistics solutions across the supply chain, with more than 3,000 employees among 25+ countries.[3]

Swisslog supplies industry-specific services for automated warehouses and distribution centers. Its core industries are grocery, retail and e-commerce, food and beverages, and industrials.

Food & Drink Business featured Swisslog’s automation capabilities that maximize space and minimize waste to increase product range and diversity, including cranes designed to capture and redirect energy — a “regenerative energy capability reduces total energy draw by up to 20 per cent.”

The Packaging Journal highlighted Swisslog’s 125-year celebration and new motto, “The Human Side of Automation,” at LogiMAT (international trade show for intralogistics solutions and process management), the biggest annual intralogistics exhibition, held in Stuttgart, Germany.

Modern Materials Handling mentioned Swisslog’s “belief that people transform automation from a collection of technologies into a business asset."

Swisslog Automation

edit

Swisslog provides products and systems for automated warehouse logistics, from traditional high bay warehouses to innovative robot-based material handling solutions.

Products and Services

edit

Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) increase efficiency and quality in warehousing for small loads, pallets and heavy loads. ASRS can adjust capacities to increase throughput without additional capital expenses or the need for more warehouse space.

  • AutoStore: A space-saving storage and order picking system for small parts in ambient or chilled, high-throughput and deep-freeze applications.
  • High bay warehouse (pallets): Enabling a completely independent storage and retrieval process with round-the-clock operation, Swisslog’s automated high bay warehouse has a compact design, utilizes storage and retrieval machines or shuttle vehicles, and is suitable for a wide range of industries.
  • Shuttle storage solutions: Swisslog offers two storage shuttle systems: a high-density pallet solution, PowerStore, and a dynamic small-load solution, CycloneCarrier. The modularity of the PowerStore pallet shuttle system enabled Swisslog customer Pepsi to increase their storage capacity by 60%. The solution can also be individually adapted for all shapes and sizes of warehouse buildings. The solution is ideal in retail and e-commerce for returns handling, replenishment or buffer for order consolidation.
  • Transport and conveyors, from conveyor systems to innovative automated guided vehicles (AGVs), Swisslog offers fully automated systems to optimize the flow of materials in pallets, cartons, bins, trays and even odd-sized loads.
  • Autonomous mobile robots: Swisslog’s portfolio of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) can integrate with their advanced warehouse automation solutions, either connected to their leading WMS software, SynQ, to other WMS, or as a stand-alone subsystem.
    • IntraMove AMR 600: A compact and agile AMR designed for payloads up to 600 kg (1,322 lb.). It’s ideal for dynamic and flexible automated warehouse environments with integrated lift capabilities.
    • IntraMove AMR 1500: A mobile robot designed for medium-to-heavy warehouse transport tasks, with the capability to handle loads up to 1,500 kg (3,306 lb).
    • IntraMove AMR 3000: A robust mobile robot that can transport loads up to 3,000 kg (6,613 lb) and features an omnidirectional drive system for exceptional maneuverability, including sideways movement.
    • MonoRail electrified transport system: MonoRail is a flexible, high-capacity electrified system for gently transporting pallets and roll cages over longer distances. Traveling at up to 2 m/sec, it can handle more than 600 pallets per hour. MonoRail can be used in deep-freeze temperatures down to -30 °C and ambient up to 40 °C. It gently and noiselessly carries loads of up to 1,500 kg (3,306 lb). Longer twin loads elements can carry 3,000 kg (6,613 lb).
    • ProMove pallet conveyor: ProMove is a multifunctional conveyor system for energy-efficient transportation of pallets with both light and heavy loads. With its flexible design, it can be configured to meet a wide range of requirements for automated pallet transportation.
    • QuickMove small loads conveyor: A flexible, modular conveyor system for small loads such as bins, trays and cartons up to 50 kg (110 lb).

Picking and Palletizing

edit

Swisslog’s picking and palletizing solutions are based on proven technology and operational principles. They are customized to meet each customer’s specific needs and designed to adapt to ever-changing requirements: number of order lines, number of products, family grouping, delivery times, ABC curves and product lines, to name a few.

  • CaddyPick person-to-goods case picking: CaddyPick is a semi-automated monorail picking solution that transports store-specific order units through aisles for error-free picking and order fulfillment in ambient temperature and chilled warehouse zones.
  • Goods-to-person picking systems: Whether semi- or fully automated, single- or two-stage, Swisslog’s picking systems ensure efficient and accurate order fulfillment. They facilitate and minimize all manual processes, including walking distances for picking personnel.
  • Robot-based: Swisslog’s robot-based solutions combine KUKA robots and Swisslog’s intralogistics know-how to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and reduce risk to humans.

Software

edit

SynQ warehouse management system (WMS): The intelligent core of automated intralogistics, SynQ is a scalable, modular warehouse management software system offering a unified platform, rapid, standardized integration, intuitive design, and proactive lifecycle support.

SAP extended warehouse management (EWM): Enabling automation hardware technology, control software and EWM end-to-end processes from a single source. This offers customers the implementation and operation of a seamlessly integrated solution across all warehouse processes and a unified material flow organization for the entire warehouse site.

Awards

edit
  • Trophées de Rois 2024 – Award of Supply Chain Magazine for AutoStore Multi-Temperature Solution (Case La Réserve des Saveurs) – Silver medal for Team France
  • ASCLA 2022 Finalist for Supply Chain Management Award: Swisslog Australia & New Zealand – SKUTOPIA
  • Supply Chain Asia Industry 2018 Supply Chain Innovation of the Year Award

History

edit

Swisslog traces its roots back to Sprecher + Schuh AG, founded in Aarau in 1900 and split into two separate entities in 1985. After a successful public tender offer by KUKA, Swisslog merged with a KUKA subsidiary at the end of July 2015 and was delisted from the Swiss stock exchange. Swisslog is now part of the KUKA Group.[4]
