History

edit

Railsware was founded in 2007 as a Ruby on Rails engineering team and gradually evolved into a product studio model combining client-facing consulting with in-house product development.[4] In its early years, the company focused on software engineering for startups and later began launching proprietary products. In 2024, Forbes Ukraine included Railsware among twenty long-standing Ukrainian IT companies that have continuously developed their own products for over a decade.[5] In 2025 the company was named among top 100 Ruby on Rails development companies by Techreviewer.co.[6]

Railsware contributed to the development of Calendly, building the platform’s early minimum viable product (MVP) before its launch in 2013.[7] In a 2022 profile, Forbes reported that Tope Awotona, Calendly’s founder, engaged Railsware in Kyiv to build the initial version of the product.[8] The agency has also collaborated with clients such as ParentSquare[9] and TradeZella.
