Astronomy

I like checking out the Astronomy Picture of the Day and today's is pretty sweet:

And it doesn't hurt that, to me, it looks like boobs.

Oh the fun I would have with a Rorschach inkblot test!

Anyway, back to astronomy. I totally want to go check out one of the night watch events hosted by the Back Bay Amateur Astronomers if anyone else wants to come as well. Like I really need another hobby.. but I could totally see enjoying myself on one of these outings. We had a guy give us a lecture once during a VHS herp survey we did at night at Northwest River Park in Chesapeake. I really enjoyed that, and I have always wanted to do something like that again. You just don't get to really appreciate the night sky when you live in a urban or suburban area.

Here is their schedule of upcoming events: http://groups.hamptonroads.com/pag…

Aries

I took some astrology quiz from a book my mother in law has. Everyone passed it around for fun on Easter, and while I am not really big into this kind of stuff, I did find what the book said about me to be amusing. I really have to agree with all of it, but wonder what some of you who really know me well might have to say.

Photography Links

Here is a link that was in an email I got from Ritz Camera: http://www.ritzcamera.com/static/a… It's an article on photography tips for Halloween.

Let me save you possible time by saying that it's a horrible article. I take that back. I suppose they might have some handy advice, but the sample pictures are terrible. I didn't really read all the article, but instead I looked at the images, and the whole time I'm thinking that surely the GOOD pictures are just a scroll away. Then I reached the end and promptly closed the page. Ugh. There was nothing in the article I didn't already know from what I could skim; I was mainly hoping to view some inspiring images. So much for that. But if you're a photography noob (newbie) then I suppose it might be helpful, although I personally still consider myself a noob as it is. I guess I feel I could do just as good a job, if not better, and I want to see pictures better than mine.

So instead of leaving you all unsatisfied, let me leave you with a site that actually has something to offer: http://www.kenrockwell.com Sadly I don't see anything pertaining to Halloween in particular, but he still has some nifty advice. And if you feel like reading then let me recommend this book: The Confused Photographer's Guide to Photographic Exposure and the Simplified Zone System (Recommended for SLR or DSLR cameras only)

Basically this is just a rant over some crap ass article Ritz camera sent me through an email. They spam me with gobs of horse fudge all because I had the nerve to buy a lens from them. At lease B&H is kind enough to leave me mostly alone as reward for being one of their customers.

And my husband seems to think that the pictures in the Ritz link are fine, and that I am being overly harsh. I returned the comment with a mature hand gesture of sorts.

Computer Pictures

I took pictures during almost every step. I didn't take pictures of any old gear I took for my new computer. There are a lot of pictures, and I can't see how this would be entertaining to anyone other than Aaron and myself. But here you go..

Technical Info

New PC:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200 2.21 GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
8600 GT Nvidia 256MB

Old PC:
Pentium III 733MHz
768 MB of RAM
Nvidia Gforce2 MX400 64MB

Aaron's computer has the same specs, but he has a different case and no pretty lights. Next we'll break down our old PCs to build the boys a computer, and after that we'll take the extra parts left over to build some computers for a charity down town. Talk about some recycling..
