I know I say this every year, but I am somewhat astounded by the volume of writing I have done over the past twelve months. A lot more of it was little things: ficlets, missing scenes and the like. A whole heck of a lot of it was prompt-fic (apparently I fail at coming up with my own ideas this year).

When Every No Turns Into Maybe (Five Times, Missing Scene(s), Castle/Beckett, rating: PG): Her mistake, Beckett only realized in hindsight, had been in assuming that the playboy persona was all there was to him.

What’s in a Name? (Ficlet, Humor, Episode Tag, Castle/Beckett friendship, rating: G): ”Why ‘Castle’?”

Paint a Picture (Ficlet, Castle/Beckett, Missing scene, Introspection, rating: G): The weight of her admission doesn’t really sink in until the moment Kate lifts her gaze to his.

Caution: Curve Ahead (Beckett/Josh, Summer Hiatus, rating: G): Even from this distance, she can tell he’s got the sort of chiseled good looks that are more reminiscent of a character from one of Castle’s books than a heavy metal enthusiast. Also known as: the one where I cheat on my ‘ship. Oops.

Take One Down, Pass it Around (Castle/Beckett, Humor, Durnk!fic, rating: PG): “Then again,” Castle muses aloud as he reaches for a bottle of Grey Goose and pours a finger into her glass, “maybe this is just the opportunity I’ve been waiting for: another drink and you could be telling me all your deepest, darkest and – dare I hope – sultriest secrets.”

Forwarmed is Forearmed (Ficlet, Episode tag, Castle/Beckett, rating: G): “There’s a right way to punch a cold-blooded killer-for-hire in the face?”

Becoming the Bieb (Humor, Castle/Beckett, Nekkid!fic, rating: PG-13): “You know Castle, with a voice like that you could be the next Justin Bieber.”

Make a Wish (Ficlet, Fluff, The Gang of 4, rating: G): “Would you stop being a cop for just a minute and blow out your candles?”

Splish Splash (Humor, rating: PG): “You do have an umbrella right?”

Silver & Gold (Holiday, Fluff, Castle/Beckett, rating: G): “I couldn’t help noticing that you finally have a chimney. And seeing as you’ve been such a good little girl this year, I thought I’d drop by.”


Sanctuary:

Little Song (Ficlet, Helen/John, Pre-Series, Romance, rating: PG-13): Slipping his arms around her waist, John pulls her flush against him before dipping his head to rest his cheek against hers. "Hold tight."


The West Wing (I know, I can’t quite believe it either.):

Reverberations (AU, Angst, Character Death, Ensemble, Josh/Donna implied, rating: PG): Three minutes after Ron Butterfield yells ‘Blue’, sending the limousine careening around the street corners of Washington DC faster than any vehicle it size ought to be moving, the President loses consciousness.

Leather and Lace (Sanctuary/Castle/Stargate SG1 Crossover, Humor, Awesome Ladies, rating: PG-13): “There are only so many innuendo-laden comments about leather and lace a woman can take.”

A Little Impromptu Pomp and Circumstance (Castle/West Wing Crossover, Humor, Romance, Castle/Beckett, CJ/Danny, rating: PG): “We’re about to meet the President of the United States!” Castle hisses, casting a significant glance at the salt-and-pepper haired Secret Service agent standing by the Commissioner’s office door. “Even you have to be just a little bit flapped about that.”

The Caught Out of Time Job (Leverage/??? Crossover, Episode Tag, Awesome Ladies, rating: G): “What’s a woman like you doing in a place like this, hiring someone like me to do her dirty work for her, when it’s perfectly clear you’re capable of doing the job yourself?”


Crackfic:

The Last Stand of the Morphemes (Multi-Fandom, Humor, Awesome Ladies, rating: PG-13): ”Those frakking internet people are at it again.” Otherwise known as this year’s installment of the United Federation of Kick-Ass Female Characters series. You’ll never look at name-smushing the same way again. *g*


What’s on the horizon for 2012, you ask? I am sorry to say that the in-progress folder on my flash drive is looking woefully empty at the moment. I do have a Castle case-file fic partially completed. And eight (no, really; I am not exaggerating) scrapable versions of a Castle post-Knockout fic that will never see the light of day. But other than that…not much going on in this writer’s brain of mine. Personally, I blame the knitting. *g*
