So I sold a short story

So yeah.

Not professional rates or anything, just five bucks.  But someone liked something I made, and thought it was worth something, and that's nice.

. . .

OHMYGAZ SOMEONE LIKED SOMETHING I MADE I AM SO DELIRIOUSLY HAPPY THAT SOMEONE LIKED IT AND THEY THINK IT'S NOT CRAP AND EVERYTHING I DO IS CRAP AND THEY DIDN'T THINK THIS ONE WAS AND FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER I MADE SOMETHING THAT'S NOT CRAP OH MY GOD YAY!

I MADE SOMETHING THAT ISN'T COMPLETELY CRAP!

Ahem. So, yeah.

Writer's Block: Childhood Memories As A Kid

Backyard games, summer camp, trips to the pool… what's your favorite childhood memory of summer?

During summer evenings back when I was a little kid, my dad would sometimes get home from work early (back then me and my sibs never saw him 'cause he left for work before we woke up and came home after bedtime). Me, Joey and Laura would be playing on the jungle gym (usually with our neighbor Nancy) playing things like pirate ships and the ground is made of lava and Dad would just sit on the porch bench thing and watch us, occasionally playing referee or cheering one of us on. Sometimes if it wasn't too cold, Mom would come out too and they'd sit together.

Funny, out of the ten years I was around for their marrige, that's pretty much the only nice memory I have of them together.

Absurdly happy time

So, I technically got published.

It's only microfiction, I know. It only took me a few seconds to come up with it, I know. But for the first time I have exchanged words from inside my head for money in the real world, all glorious $1.20 of it.

The last time something like this happened was when a short story of mine got into my college lit magazine, which I never count because I wasn't technically paid (although I still have the free copy of the booklet, and the muffin they gave me was nice).

So, yeah. Part of me is all like "WHOOO! Technically published kinda!" The other part is "Don't be an idiot, it's less that 140 characters. Nothing to be proud of."

Is this thing on?

Okay.
Testing, testing, one two three.
I wrote a letter to my love and tossed it out to sea.

Alright. I've never had an LJ before, and I doubt I will be posting much of anything because I just made it to comment on communities and things I have been following for a while.

So, ah, bye. . . nonexistent readers.
