Humans May Have Always Been Able to Regenerate Body Parts–Scar Tissue Just Gets in the Way
In their study, published in Nature Communications, Muneoka and his colleagues detail a newly developed 2-step treatment that led to the regeneration of bone, joint structures and ligaments in mice. While the results were imperfect, the team believes this approach could be used more immediately to reduce scarring and improve tissues repair after amputations.
This is a very different approach than some others I have seen, and it seems quite promising.

Birdfeeding
Jun. 26th, 2026 12:23 pmToday is cloudy, quite warm, and wet. It's been raining since last night.
I fed the birds. I haven't seen any today.
I put out water for the birds.
EDIT 6/26/26 -- I did a bit of work around the patio.
It's not raining at the moment, but everything is still soaked.
EDIT 6/26/26 -- I did more work around the patio.
EDIT 6/26/26 -- I did more work around the patio.
It's drizzling again.

D.C. Memo: Food stamp enrollment falls after GOP places limits
According to the center, participation dropped an average of 10% nationally between the law’s July 2025 enactment and March 2026, based on data from the USDA. Minnesota’s participation rate fell by far less, the center’s report said — about 3.55%.
There were about 435,000 SNAP recipients in Minnesota at the end of March. And that number is expected to drop because of the new work requirements.
As of June 1, recipients must log at least 20 hours per week in paid employment or approved education, training or volunteer service.
The Republican plan to increase hunger in America is working!

Jun. 26th, 2026 05:00 pmWarning Signs of a Fragile Town
One of the core messages from Strong Towns is that the standard North American style of development creates fragile places. That’s bad, right? We don’t want fragility. We want durability and strength. What does fragility actually mean, though? What does it look like for a town to be fragile? I wanted to cover this idea and help you spot fragility in your own town when you see it.
If you live in America, your town is far more likely to be fragile than resilient. The vast majority of towns are broke, for reasons including but not limited to car dependence, the growth Ponzi scheme, suburbs, and the basic failure to account for future liabilities from infrastructure.
The crucial point is that not all towns are broke to the same degree. The older your town is, the more likely it has a downtown and some core neighborhoods with a grid instead of suburban squiggles. It's the later ones with no core, or with a huge amount of sprawl, that have the worst problems. So first, check your town for legacy assets that you can use to solve subsequent issues.
