The state of the Yan
I am utterly shattered due to waking up at 5:30 this morning and not being able to get back to sleep (it was a typical London morning: birds were singing and twenty different sirens were going by) but I can't go to bed until the peanut butter blondies I'm making for the office bake off have come out of the oven. It's been a good day though; I bought a ticket to go to what will be my first festival in years, which has one of my favourite artists as a headliner, and which will involve meeting up with a couple of really good friends who I don't see nearly enough of these days. Even though I swore off camping after Glastonbury 2008, I'm excited!
It's also been one of those weeks when I'm just in love with fandom. When I was googling "who is Nick Grimshaw" about eighteen months ago I'm not sure I thought I'd ever find myself waving a home-made (surreptitiously, using office stationery) sign and cheering him on as he finished his twelve-hour Sports Relief cycling challenge, but I'm so glad that I went along on Monday. And there's a hilarious picture of us on the Radio 1 website where we look amazingly enthusiastic, and the women directly to the right and left of us look amazingly unimpressed.
Last night I had my first experience of lane swimming, which was mildly terrifying because usually I just breast-stroke up and down the non-laned part of the pool with the old ladies. I managed not to drown or crash into anyone though so, win?
ONLY JUST OVER A WEEK TILL WINTER SOLDIER AUUGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
