Hi! I’m Yaki!

image

I’m a 23 year old, piñata snake guy (or sometimes a piñata weasel (or sometimes an inkling)) who lives on the east coast (or near enough to it) of Australia.

I’m a regular streamer/vtuber/pngtuber/idiot, I’m live every:

Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday

(or I am most of the time ;3)

The specific times I stream can be found either on my Twitch page on in my Discord server!

Come hang out! I’m bad/good at video games!

I also stream a lot (and I mean, a lot) with my partner @babbiespanchvt!

Here’s a little clips highlight for ya:

hi! adding onto this:

in case my tumblr goes up in flames because the people running this site hate me for merely existing, here are some other places you can find me!

in addition to my twitch and discord (above), i have a bluesky acct and i’ll be looking into cohost tomorrow when i’m at home (and will edit this post to include it!)

i had hoped to only use these as a backup in case things went really really wrong but that seems more likely day by day! yippee!

edit: made my cohost! it’s yakiattaki, like it is on most things. i can’t post there yet and i’m not migrating entirely, yet, but i will be moving some things over there. be great if you could follow me so we can find eachother in our next incarnations.

edit 2: lol bye cohost ig

Heads up if you’re a sewing hobbyist…

Buy those patterns you’ve been thinking about while you still can.

image

This is a motherfuckin’ GAME CHANGER

There’s a huge caveat to using the COPA, though. The COPA, much like the Vintage Sewing Patterns Wiki, is mostly a record of the existence of the patterns, and not the patterns themselves.

The only difference is that COPA does (often, but not always) include a scan of the pattern piece diagram, like this [link]

image

The size of the pattern piece image on the site is 420 x 374 pixels. You can use that to help draft patterns, but, even if you scale it up to human size, it’s only going to be one pattern size (which size is unknown), and incredibly low resolution. It also completely omits yardage, notions, and suggested fabrics. These things may not be issues for some people, but they certainly won’t be helpful for others.

Also, the original post’s information is outdated, as the employees of the Big 4 bought the company themselves, making it, effectively, an indie pattern company, and it very much still exists (a few new patterns were even released this week)

There are a lot of people in the notes saying, basically, “Yeah, that’s polyester for ya!”

but, the thing is

even polyester fabric was higher quality in the past

yes, not all of it, but, still, a noticeable amount of older polyester was…nicer.

yeah, it would still get picks and hold on to every bit of underarm odor, and that’s on top of no-one knowing about microplastic shedding

but a 1950s Wash'n'Wear shirt, or 1970s double knit pantsuit, or 1980s neon sweatshirt, or a 1990s slinky knit or crushed velour mock turtleneck…so many of them would have been significantly higher quality than the fast fashion of today.

i work in historical costume. i work in a big-ass warehouse, with hundreds of thousands articles of clothing dating back over 100 years (for original pieces).

the BLINDING difference in clothing quality between even the 1990s and the mid-2000s…not even going in to the decline in quality of clothing made in natural fibers (jeans with elastane, i’m looking at you), I’ve got faux-leather trousers from 1980s that are in near-mint condition, even after being hired and worn repeatedly for the past 40 years. we get donations of clothing that shows and films have bought online for contemporary shows that are disintegrating after being used on one show, for like….10 days, max.

don’t even get me started on the seam allowances we used to get in clothes, because the assumption was you’d alter it at some point…

they hate you. they hate the planet. they have drip fed you worse and worse quality clothing until you don’t even realize you’re being sold Garbage

doomscrolling tiktok together and I turn to you and ask, “why doesn’t your algorithm recommend any videos with Black people?”

doomscrolling tumblr and I turn to you and ask, “why don’t you reblog anti-racism when it makes you feel uncomfortable?”

I mean, real answer? I don’t reblog 99% of the anti-racist posts that cross my dash because they all have this type of guilt-tripping on the end. I thought we agreed ten or fifteen years ago that we’re not spreading that shit. I see plenty of posts I would love to reblog if they didn’t all end with “but you won’t reblog this and that proves you’re actually racist” or words to that effect

Tears that are driven by white guilt are self-indulgent. When we are mired in guilt, we are narcissistic and ineffective; guilt functions as an excuse for inaction. Further, because we so seldom have authentic and sustained cross-racial relationships, our tears do not feel like solidarity to people of color we have not previously supported. Instead, our tears function as impotent reflexes that don’t lead to constructive action. We need to reflect on when we cry and when we don’t, and why. In other words, what does it take to move us? Since many of us have not learned how racism works and our role in it, our tears may come from shock and distress about what we didn’t know or recognize. For people of color, our tears demonstrate our racial insulation and privilege.

I asked the woman of color I refer to in the opening of this chapter if I was missing anything in this list. This is her response:

It’s infuriating because of its audacity of disrespect to our experience. You are crying because you are uncomfortable with your feelings when we are barely allowed to have any. You are ashamed or some such thing and cry, but we are not allowed to have any feelings because then we are being difficult. We are supposed to remain stoic and strong because otherwise we become the angry and scary people of color. We are only allowed to have feelings for the sake of your entertainment, as in the presentation of our funerals. And even then, there are expectations of what is allowed for us to express. We are abused daily, beaten, raped, and killed but you are sad and that’s what is important. That’s why it is sooooo hard to take.

- White Fragility, Robin DiAngelo

I am asking you to deliberately seek out and engage with Black content creators. I am also asking you to notice when your racial guilt moves you to inaction, regard it as a problem worth solving, and solve it.

actually, seconding that. i have been on tumblr for a decade and have never seen anyone say “reblog this or you’re racist”.

ive seen countless “reblog this or you’re evil,” “reblog for good luck,” etc. but never any where someone is accused of racism for not reblogging a post.

the closest ive seen is “white people may reblog, but dont add anything” or things similar, because the post is specifically about Black people discussing issues that pertain solely to them and they are not at all interested in the ten thousandth “as a white person, i think-” comment on their post

i dont believe the claim that “99% of anti-racist posts are guilt tripping” i think you’re just racist and don’t wanna reblog them
