[VICTORY ALERT] AB 130, which creates a broad CEQA exemption for infill housing projects, has been signed by Governor Newsom. Because it is part of the budget, it is effective immediately.

When the LA city council opposed our first transit oriented upzoning bill on local control grounds in 2018, rent was $1,663. They have opposed every subsequent bill with the same rationale: trust us, we will fix it ourselves. Now rent is $2,625. Enough is enough. Pass SB 79.

The City of LA, embarrassingly, just voted to oppose #SB79 (legalizing housing near transit). Watch this incredible rebuttal from @cd4losangeles, where she says that the city isn't acting in good faith to address the housing crisis, & that state intervention has been necessary.

Why don't politicians ever talk abt zoning reform? American urban design is a health hazard imo. This would immediately open up a lot of real estate that otherwise the dems are talking abt having to spend taxpayer money building to reduce scarcity/ costs. but Also the best

The City of Los Angeles could largely solve its $1 billion budget shortfall by allowing more homes to be built near its transit stations, according to a report out today from Streets For All, an LA-based safe streets and land use advocacy organization.

Last year, Governor Walz signed legislation to study legalizing single-stair apartment buildings up to 75' tall and to retroactively exempt Minneapolis' pro-housing 2040 Plan from environmental review.

SB79 is currently on @GavinNewsom's desk. It’s a law that would speed up housing construction near transit and begin to address the massive housing crisis in our state. Passing it through the legislature was a huge victory for housing advocates and everyone who wants California
