If you're walking through grassy or wooded areas this summer, be tick aware and make sure you know how to avoid ticks and remove them if they bite. 👇
    Be tick aware

Use an insect repellent that prevents ticks

Wear long sleeves and long trousers to prevent direct skin exposure

Keep to clearly defined paths and avoid brushing against vegetation

Check for ticks on young children, including around their heads and necks

As soon you’re back indoors, check for any ticks on you, your children and pets

If you find a tick, you can remove it safely and easily

It's hot and while lots of people love long sunny days, heat can pose real risks to your health. 🫠 Being sun‑safe does not mean you have to dampen the fun, but dampening your skin with a wet sponge? That can help you cool down.

It’s encouraging to see news highlighting how the HPV vaccine is saving young women’s lives. If you have not yet taken up the offer and you are a woman under 25, you can still get the HPV vaccine for free through the NHS.
The HPV vaccine is saving lives, but around 1 in 4 young people are still leaving school unprotected.

Quote from Dr Sharif Ismail, Consultant Epidemiologist at UKHSA
The HPV vaccine is one of the most effective cancer-preventing vaccines available. Now just a single dose given in school, it protects against cervical cancer, and several cancers caused by HPV that affect both boys and girls, helping to save thousands of lives and the terrible stress on families.

This new study provides striking evidence of just how significant the impact of HPV vaccination has been in helping to reduce deaths from cervical cancer in England. If you’ve missed out on vaccination, please speak to your GP about catch-up options: young people remain eligible until their 25th birthday.

Whether you're starting Couch to 5K or just popping to the shops, a few simple steps can cut the amount of air pollution you breathe in. 🏃 🔗 check-air-quality.service.gov.uk/location/ng25l… #CleanAirDay
Did you know? Choosing routes away from busy roads is best when walking or exercising. However, putting even a short distance between you and the roadside can help reduce your exposure to air pollution.
