Building a new L1 is brutally hard. Itโs not just the tech, you need a massive ecosystem to make it work, and that race already has clear leaders like Ethereum. Building services and apps on existing infrastructure is far easier, and that space is wide open with real opportunity.
There have recently been some discussions on the ongoing role of L2s in the Ethereum ecosystem, especially in the face of two facts:
* L2s' progress to stage 2 (and, secondarily, on interop) has been far slower and more difficult than originally expected
* L1 itself is scaling,
The ETH staking queue exploded this month, reaching a new all-time high.
New stakers now wait around 70 days before earning rewards.
We have never seen it like this before.
