When modelling risk, capturing volatility is a big part of it. I’ve been looking into how we can make sure to use the right metrics in crypto and while reusing TradFi metrics is fine, we should be careful when applying and perceiving values. Less is more, but we can do better.

Social media and inadequate communication have received a lot of blame for the speed of the downfall and its critical impact. While this did make the situation worse, the leading cause of SVB's failure was poor risk management practices. 2/7

The lack of a chief risk officer in the months prior to the collapse, absence of insurance for more than 90% of the deposits, a highly concentrated client base on lending and depositing are a few starting issues that should have raised red flags. 3/7
