I recently looked up Tyler-294's Revolutionary War service. From the DAR records: Svc: VA; Rank: Civil Svc, Patriotic Svc, Captain Svc Source: Sanchez-Saavedra, A Guide to VA Ml Orgs in the American Revolution, p.17; Mosley, American Presidential Families, p.172; Eckenrode, List of Rev War Soldiers of VA, Vol 1, p, 447 Svc Description: 1) Elizabeth City District Batt 2) Speaker of the House of Delegates, Judge Since I am not a member of the US Presidents Project, I cannot add a sticker/badge to John Tyler-294's profile page.
BTW: His son President John Tyler's last grandchild Harrison Ruffin Tyler died recently in Richmond, VA. I believe there is a short bio online for Harrison.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely, Linda Alcott Maples (alcott-171)
I just noticed that in Gerald Ford's entry he's listed as "living" when he died on December 26, 2006 at the age of 93 in Rancho Mirage California.
Sorry about that. : }
A number of Presidents have also had a hereditary link back to the New Sweden colony, including the 41st President, President George Herbert Walker Bush, and his son the 43rd President, President George Walker Bush. The Bushes are descendants of New Sweden colonist Måns Andersson who arrived in New Sweden in April 1640 on board the Kalmar Nyckel. These Presidential ancestral ties transcend any type of political ideology for both Democratic and Republican Presidents have been descendants of New Sweden colonists. The colony of New Sweden has been a vital component in the fabric of America whose descendants range from fine common citizenry to holders of the highest elected office.<ref>https://colonialswedes.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/SCN-Volume-3-Number-4-Spring-Summer-2006.pdf</ref>
- Måns Andersson is 9 Degrees from George H. Bush[1]
- Måns Andersson is 10 Degrees from George W. Bush[2]
