Obituary
Alice M. Tryon
Alice M. Tryon, 82, of Waterville, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at the K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, Ks.
The family provided the following information.
Heaven is in for a treat! Alice Tryon arrived in the midst of God's glory after one very, very, very, very bad day. She was following her dream of a heart surgery that was intended to return her health.
Alice's earth-bound family, nearly 100 beloved nieces and nephews from three generations of Tryons, has lost a grand lady and dear friend. Alice's life stands as a testimony to how the love of one person can impact the lives of so many family members. She was everyone's favorite aunt and each one of us knows without a doubt we were her favorite. He dearest friends were her sisters, Orpha Lumley, Lorine Binder, Frances Yungeberg and brothers, Chester Tryon, Ben Tryon and Alson Tryon. All her siblings preeded her in death. Her love then held together the family of all the children of those sisters and brothers.
She was the family historial with numerous albums dating over sixty years. She initiated the writing of a book of loving memories of her large family growing up during the Depression in Irving, Ks. Her treasured legafcy is a collection of pictorial and written history of that family.
Her talents were many. She wrote letters, collected and made dolls, painted, played the piano and rang in a handbell choir, sang, worked needle point, kept lists of unusual sayings and names. She was a gifted story teller with many performances of recitations of well known poems. Her laughter was a joy to hear.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m.m Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at the Waterville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Whitaker officiating. Bev Hedke will play the organ. The Church Bell Choir will play an arrangement of "Blessed Assurance" and Alice's great niece, Lauren Barr, will play "Amazing Grace" at the piano. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made out to the Waterville United Methodist Church and sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home, P.O. Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.[3]
