I. Speed was born in Victoria, Australia

I am Australian. I was born in Kerang, a small town in the wheat belt of Victoria, about 3 hours’ drive north-west of Melbourne.

All of my grandparents were avid golfers. My great-grandfather was a member of Royal Melbourne Golf Club, and my great-great-uncle won the Australian Amateur golf championship.

It might sound strange, but I don’t play golf. I run. I represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, competing in the 800m at the Bird’s Nest. And, no, I didn’t win a medal. I came 9th overall.

Hi I,

The Australia Project are checking in with our members. It has been wonderful to have your involvement in the project for the last year, helping improve Australian profiles on WikiTree. We are so grateful for the work that Australia Project members do to record Australian genealogy on WikiTree.

Please reply to this profile comment, or send me a private message (don't add a new comment on your profile page, as we don't get notified about that!). Let us know if you'd like to stay on in the Project, and what you plan to work on during the coming year. If you would like to change any of the teams you are on we can make those changes for you. Our teams are listed on Australia Project Teams. There's no need to worry if you're concerned about possible time constraints. If life gets in the way, and you end up not being able to do anything we totally understand.

If you have developed new interests, and you no longer want to be a member of the Australia Project, please let us know so that we can remove you from the membership list. You are always welcome to rejoin at any time.

One of the best things about being in a WikiTree project, is working together. Many Australia Project members are active on Discord. It's a great way to discuss your interests with other members of your project team/s. If you're not on Discord yet, here's some information - Help:Discord. If you are already on the WikiTree Discord server, let us know, and we can send you an invite link to the dedicated Australia Project server (WikiAustralia) where all our team channels are located. It's a fun and friendly place to chat with others about genealogy. We also communicate through the Australia Project google group, and on the G2G - make sure you add the tag Australia.

We look forward to hearing from you!

The Australia Project Leadership Team ~ Gillian, Kylie, Veronica and Margaret
