About the Project
The Clark Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Clark name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Clark name.
As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Clarks), by time period (18th Century Clarks), or by topic (Clark DNA, Clark Occupations, Clark Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

How To Categorize Profiles
How to Categorize A Profile
The Clark One Name Study uses categories to group profiles together. This can be done via the standard use of categories or using the project sticker. See Help:Categorization for more information on categorization in general.
The Clark One Name Study categories should only be added to a profile for an individual whose surname was Clark at birth. Individuals whose names changed to Clark, due to marriage should not be added to the Clark Name Study.
Please feel free to contact members of the Clark One Name Study for help with categorizing.

Additional Categories
If you would like to add additional Clark categories to a profile based on other life events besides the individuals birth location, you can do so by adding the categories in the same way as you would any category. The categories would be placed above the Biography section.
In this example, the profile is grouped by the location they were born as defined in the sticker, but another category is added since they died in a different location:
- [[Category:Greene County, Indiana, Clark Name Study]]
