Biography
John was born 24 October 1737, in Unity, New Hampshire. He was the son of Daniel Ladd (1686-abt.1770) and Mehitable (Philbrick) Ladd (1693-1779).[1]
John married Mary Moody of Brentwood, New Hampshire about 1760. The family was one of the first settlers of Unity, New Hampshire.[2]
John supported the American Revolution by signing the New Hampshire Association Test. [3][4]
John died at age 40 on 15 March 1784, in Unity, New Hampshire, leaving a widow and nine children.[5] He is buried in the Sullivan County Farm Cemetery in Unity, Sullivan County, New Hampshire.[6] John's will, written 27 February 1784,[7] mentions:

- son John Ladd, Jr.
- son Josiah Ladd
- daughter Elizabeth
- the rest of my daughters when they reach 18 or marry
He appointed his wife and his brother Josiah Moody to be executors.
