Biography
Edward's birth was registered in 1879 in New Zealand. He was the child of Edward Kerr & Sarah Kerr.[1]
Harry Kerr took part in the walking events at the Olympic Games, London in 1908, [2] He won a Bronze Medal, gaining third place in the 3500 metres walking race while competing as part of the combined Australasia team, as neither New Zealand or Australia were entered as separate national teams at the time. He took part in several other local events in England, winning a bronze medal for breaking the standard, in the two-mile race at the English championships. [3]
Harry Kerr lived in the farming community of Tariki, halfway between Inglewood and Stratford, Taranaki.
He married Isabella Maria Foster at Beach Church, New Brighton, Christchurch at the age of 34yrs. Witnesses at their wedding were Chas. Foster, New Brighton (town clerk) and E.C. Winny, New Brighton. [4]
He was a farmer.
Henry's death (age 72Y) was registered in 1951 in New Zealand.[5]
Henry was mentioned, with a portrait photograph, on a memorial at Inglewood Cemetery, Inglewood, New Plymouth District, Taranaki, New Zealand, with a death date of 17 May 1951.[6]
