Eliza Rebecca Hughes was born on 16th December 1826[1] at Richmond, New South Wales, Australia. She was the ninth of fourteen children of Mathew Hughes and Mary Small.[2]
She married her first cousin, Robert Small, son of William Small and Charlotte Melville on 17th August 1848 at Williamsdale, New South Wales.[3] They had nine children:
- Rebecca Small (1849-1927) married surname Youdale
- Charles Robert Small (1850-1940)
- Lucy Jane (Small) Moore (1853-1935) married surname Moore
- Arthur William Small (1856-1935)
- Edith Annie Small (1858-1949) married surname Scott
- Ada Mary Small (1862-1936) married surname Hambly then Ford
- Harold Henry Small (1864-)
- Ambrose Lambert Small (1867-69)
- Ernest Reginald Small (1873-79)
Eliza passed away on 1st May 1921 at Ashfield, New South Wales.[4]
