Biography
David Connolly Hall was born on May 1, 1875 in Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada, son of John M Hall (1836–1922) and Ellen Augusta Thornton (1844–1925).[1]
David attended Brown University and ran on the track team. He was captain of the track and field team from 1899 to 1901. David competed at the 1900 Olympics in Paris, France. David won a bronze medal in the 800 meter dash. While running in the final, he lost his shoe halfway through the race, but was still able to place third in the event. David also ran in the 1,500 meter dash and placed 4th.[2]
After graduating from Brown University, David attended the University of Chicago and then went to medical school at Rush Medical College, graduating in 1907. He then taught at the University of Oklahoma from 1907 to 1908 and also served as their head basketball coach. In 1908, David took a job as a Professor of Hygiene at the University of Washington, and also coached their basketball and track and field teams.[3]
David died on May 27, 1972 in Seattle, King, Washington, United States, aged 97.[4]
