Biography
Joseph Haddock was born in 1837 in Gort, County Galway, Ireland.
On the 16 AUG 1869, in the Catholic Church, Hokitika, New Zealand, he married Mary Sharkey (b. 1843, Donegal, Ireland, (daughter of Francis Sharkey and Mary )) [1]
They had 12 Children:
- Michael Joseph Haddock Male b. 9 July 1870, d. 10 May 1871, Ross, buried: Ross(Died Young)
- Catherine Mary Haddock Female b. 23 Oct 1871, d. 02 AUG 1948, buried: Ross plot 108.
- Joseph Haddock Male b. 15 Jan 1873, d. 4 May 1897, Waihi, buried: Thames, plot 2500.
- Mary Imelda Haddock Female b. 1 Sept 1874, occupation Sisters of St Joseph, d. 6 Nov 1952, buried: Aramoho, Wanganui plot 4393.
- Francis John Haddock Male b. 23 May 1876, d. 22 Jan 1946, buried: Harihari plot 2
- Patrick James Haddock Male b. 20 OCT 1877, died 2 AUG 1957, Raetihi Hospital, buried: Raetihi Cemetery plot 755.
- Edward Neil Haddock Male b. 1 July 1879, d. 25 Feb 1957, Hokitika, buried: Hokitika Cemetery plot 2029.
- Thomas Martin Haddock Male b. 11 NOV 1881, d. 10 AUG 1960, buried: Hokitika Cemetery plot 1989.

Occupation Gold Miner.
He died on the 23 APR 1892 in the Ross United Claim Mine, Ross, Westland District, West Coast, New Zealand. [2]
The WCT (West Coast Times) article says Joseph snr was killed by a face coming down while sluicing on the 6-5-1892. He was 55, they lived at Donoghues (street/area of Ross Township).
Intelligence was received in town on Saturday night from Ross (says the West Coast Times) that a well known miner named Joseph Haddock was accidentally killed in the Ross United Company's claim through the face coming down whilst sluicing. Haddock was a well known miner and resident of Donoghue's, where he has lived for many years, and was much respected. - LOCAL AND GENERAL. He was buried on the 25 APR 1892 in the Ross Historic Cemetery, Ross, Westland District, West Coast, New Zealand. Plot 108. [4]
