William Cook was born about 1841 in Bedford, Pennsylvania, United States.[1]
Military Service
William Cook served as a private in the all-black 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry regiment, Company G. Enlisted from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on 9 April 1863. He was 22 years old, married and working as a brick maker when he enlisted. He went missing on 21 February 1864 and "left sick" at Barber's Fork, Florida.[1] [2]
