Daniel Ball Jr (1745 - abt. 1822)

Biography

Daniel Ball was born on 30 Oct 1745 in Christ Church Parish in Middlesex County in the Colony of Virginia to Daniel Ball Sr and Sarah (Hackney) Ball. ^[1]

He married Elizabeth (Osborne) Ball. ^[2] He appears in the 1790, 1800, 1810 and 1820 United States censuses, living in Warren County, North Carolina (NC). From the censuses, it appears that he had at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. ^{[3] [4] [5] [6]}

Daniel Ball's will was written on 18 Apr1822. In it, he directs that "Mildred Robertson sometimes called Ball shall reside at my house on my plantation during her natural life." He leaves his plantation and most of his slaves to his son James. James is unmarried and Daniel states that should he marry, and he and his wife cannot live peaceably with Mildred, then James must build himself another house on land which he chooses and move into it with his family. He leaves his illegitimate son, Richard, a dark bay horse colt. Lastly, he leaves Sally (? ) "one good bed." There is no indication that Sally is his daughter. The will was proven in open court during the November Term 1822 in Warren County, NC. ^[7]

Daniel Ball passed away between the time his will was written in Apr 1822 and the time it was proven in Nov 1822.
