In addition, TV6 will remove and, if necessary, seek further action against intimidation, harassment, and cyberbullying (including “doxxing”) of our staff. We define such actions according to the Michigan law.

According to the Michigan Legislature:

“Harassment,” as defined by 750.411h of Act 328 in the Michigan Penal Code refers to “conduct directed toward a victim that includes, but is not limited to, repeated or continuing unconsented contact that would cause a reasonable individual to suffer emotional distress and that actually causes the victim to suffer emotional distress.”

“Cyberbullying,” as outlined in 750.411x of Act 328 in the Michigan Penal Code, is defined as " posting a message or statement in a public media forum about any other person if both of the following apply: a.) the message or statement is intended to place a person in fear of bodily harm or death and expresses an intent to commit violence against the person, and b.) the message or statement is posted with the intent to communicate a threat or with knowledge that it will be viewed as a threat.”

“Doxxing” is the act of publicly providing personally identifiable information about an individual without their consent, especially as a form of revenge or harassment. Section 750.411s of the Michigan Penal Code states, “A person shall not post a message* through the use of any medium of communication, including the internet or a computer, computer program, computer system, or computer network, or other electronic medium of communication, without the victim’s consent, if all of the following apply:

The person knows or has reason to know that posting the message could cause 2 or more separate noncontinuous acts of unconsented contact with the victim.

Posting the message is intended to cause conduct that would make the victim feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested.

Conduct arising from posting the message would cause a reasonable person to suffer emotional distress and to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested.

Conduct arising from posting the message causes the victim to suffer emotional distress and to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested.

*According to the Michigan code, “‘Post a message’ means transferring, sending, posting, publishing, disseminating, or otherwise communicating or attempting to transfer, send, post, publish, disseminate, or otherwise communicate information, whether truthful or untruthful, about the victim.”
