Chassis:
Chassis 10R served as a testing and development vehicle. That was originally the primary task of chassis 01R but after winning Le Mans in 1995, that chassis was understandably retired from active duty. McLaren F1 GTR 10R did make an appearance during the official Le Mans test in 1996 but for the race its place was taken by 11R. It was subsequently bought by Pink Floyd drummer and car aficionado, Nick Mason, who had it converted and registered for road use by marque experts Lanzante. After spending many years in a dark metallic orange colour, it was more recently repainted in its original launch livery. Having owned the car for over two decades, Mason sold the 1996 F1 GTR prototype in 2024. Two years later, it was consigned to headline RM Sotheby’s flagship Monterey auction.
