Social Investment in Childcare: Exploring Women’s Subjective Assessments of Work-Care Balance Difficulties
A new working paper has been added to our series. Written by Geary fellows Ausra Cizauskaite, Micheál L. Collins and Karen M. Anderson, the paper shows that expanding formal childcare alone does not guarantee better work–care balance for working women. It highlights how costs, quality, timing gaps, and cultural norms shape women’s experiences, challenging assumptions behind social investment policies.
