You lift your head off Martin’s shoulder, blinking against the dim glow of the van’s interior. The boys are… gone. Energy completely zapped. You can’t help but frown, watching the 09z slump in their seats, eyes half-closed or fully shut, and you feel a wave of confusion. Where did all that energy go?

“You guys are so freaking boring,” you blurt out, frustration creeping into your tone as you stretch your arms out on the seat. Almost instantly, the 09z whip their heads toward you, startled out of whatever fog they’d fallen into. James, usually calm and seemingly untouchable, snaps his gaze back at you, eyes sharp. “You can call them boring,” he says, voice firm, “but me? Not happening.”

“He’s cool,” you murmur back to Seonghyeon, keeping your voice low as you both sink into the portable benches set up for you. Your eyes follow Juhoon as he carefully dusts sand off one of the big black boots—probably a prop—while the cameras capture every move for the music video.

Seonghyeon hums softly in response, giving you a sidelong glance. You can tell he’s a little tense about the shoot, even though they’ve already done the ‘go’ mv. You, on the other hand, feel surprisingly calm. Maybe it’s because this music video feels more like a team effort than the pre-debut one, or maybe it’s because you finally have a solo part that you can own.

“Well… well… well… look at that poor little thing.” Keonho teased, lounging on the bench beside Seonghyeon, who was too busy charging his phone to intervene. Both of them watched you struggle to pedal, the camera already rolling for what was supposed to be a crucial scene in the ‘What You Want’ MV.

The problem? You didn’t actually know how to ride a bicycle. And this—might’ve been your very first time seriously trying.

“do we really have to keep that scene? how about I just… run instead?” you had begged the director the day before. All those speeches you’d prepared in your head, about how unimportant this scene was, about how you could make it work differently—all fell flat the moment you actually stood there on set. His firm “no” echoed. Running in a deserted street set wasn’t going to cut it. Besides, they reminded you, you’d need to film another cycling scene later for Joyride. You had to do this one way or another.
