"time heals all wounds" WRONG! time is ripping into me with a cheese grater
Wisdom (It Was a Night of Early Spring)
by Sara Teasdale
It was a night of early spring, The winter-sleep was scarcely broken; Around us shadows and the wind Listened for what was never spoken.
Though half a score of years are gone, Spring comes as sharply now as then – But if we had it all to do It would be done the same again.
It was a spring that never came; But we have lived enough to know That what we never have, remains; It is the things we have that go.
I dont like uncertainty i need to know everything now
Sonnet XLIII
by Edna St. Vincent Millay
What lips my lips have kissed, and where, and why, I have forgotten, and what arms have lain Under my head till morning; but the rain Is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh Upon the glass and listen for reply, And in my heart there stirs a quiet pain For unremembered lads that not again Will turn to me at midnight with a cry.
Thus in winter stands the lonely tree, Nor knows what birds have vanished one by one, Yet knows its boughs more silent than before: I cannot say what loves have come and gone, I only know that summer sang in me A little while, that in me sings no more.

I just tried to describe Stray Italian Greyhound as "if Hope is a Sewer Rat was a love song" but then I realized people might not know one of my favorite poems of all time either

Hi Arja!! <3
This is a fic set just after Solas has the conversation with Emma about whether she's changed since she had the Anchor on her hand, in which she is trying to figure out whether she has:
Emmaera heard Cullen before she saw him: boots on stone, the soft creak of his metal armor, the intake of breath when he reached the top of her stairs. She turned to look at him, but didn’t say anything and didn’t move from the balcony. She’d felt rooted here ever since Solas had gone away. She was too full of—something—to move now. She had to hold still until she’d thought it all through. “Are you all right?” her lover asked, slipping through the doorway and stopping beside her. After a moment’s thought, he rested a hand on her shoulder. Her chest felt tight. She exhaled all at once, only then realizing that she had been holding her breath. “I—don’t know,” she told him. He stood with his back to the sun, so that it lit the fine strands of hair that stood above the others. She closed her eyes against it and leaned into him, taking comfort from the solidity of his body beside hers. “I don’t know if I am who I was,” she told him, all at once, as if the words couldn’t bear to wait behind her lips any longer.
oo maybe 14 & 15 from the associations ask for any/all who you'd like 👀
yessss thank you laya!! <3 (from this list)
14: home decor aesthetic
- Arianwen: Minimalist if it involved a lot of cloth being draped everywhere (so few decorative objects, not a lot of furniture, drapes over all the walls, and lots of rugs). Sort of den-like, with some of the fabric covering secret entrances and exits booby-trapped to prevent others from sneaking in
- Maria: A maximalist cabin with Baroque elements. Lots of warm wood, plush and velvet throws, rich colors, lots of books. Sort of a comfortable chaos of items: way too much decor, herbs hanging from the rafters, etc. All the rooms are painted different colors.
- Elowen: Idk what to call it, but lots of low cushions for sitting instead of chairs, light wood/natural tones, many (many, many) plants, plain or white walls. Lots of windows.
- Salshira: Mexican/Southwestern-inspired. Lots of warm colors, saltillo tile, plastered/frescoed walls. Big, thick mugs of brown pottery, plush and cushy couches (furniture in various shades of warm brown). I am giving her a chiminea and talavera pottery and a decorative molinillo she always forgets to clean and use when she makes champurrado. Lots of her decor is about texure and how it looks with everything else, not the individual piece.
- Emmaera: Nouveau. Lots of natural, curving lines, inclusion of leaves and flowers. High archways and delicate wrought iron grates and round windows trimmed in brass. Impractical and beloved spiral staircase.
- Lenore: Art Deco. Angles and tarnished copper and brass. Clean composition, for which the form of the decoration itself is the point. Lots and lots of verdigris and bruise purple and pale stone.
15: celestial body
- Arianwen: Full moon (light to hunt by, light to howl by)
- Maria: Stars (by which one navigates, to which one offers wishes)
- Elowen: Sun (which rises every day regardless of cloud cover)
- Salshira: Venus (hanging low and bright and beautiful in the sky, distinguished from the light around it, among and yet apart)
- Emmaera: Milky Way (the collection of all distant things known and unknown, greater than the sum of its parts)
- Lenore: New moon (a reminder that we must guide ourselves in the darkness, that all things end as they should, that they will begin again in a myriad of ways nonetheless)

An Open Door
For Day 3 of @rutherfest, I wanted to revisit how Cullen might have been feeling during the romance lock-in scene. I may expand on this at some point, but for now:
(Cullen/Emmaera Lavellan | 877 Words | No warnings)
It was a relief, in some ways, to have one’s path decided in advance.
Being a Templar had given him that. Cullen could remember well what it had meant to wake and know what the day would bring, for good or ill. His role had necessitated some decision making, of course, and at the time he’d been honored at the chance to provide direction for some of the others. But—in the end, it hadn’t been so much freedom as all that, had it?
The Looking-Glass
For Day 1 of @rutherfest, Past, Present, and Future, I've finally finished this piece about Emma going through the eluvian for that last fight in Trespasser as it would have been in canon. I wanted to explore what waiting for her to return would have been like for Cullen, and (lbr) put that man through it c:
(Cullen/Emmaera Lavellan | 1,098 Words | No warnings)
Cullen had no business standing around in the mirror room when there were a thousand other pressing matters to take care of.
If things went badly for Emmaera—if things went badly for her party—they would be facing far greater threats than a mirror. He ought to be organizing the troops, communicating with allies, planning for eventualities…
He paced in the room instead, wall to wall, to restless to be still and wait. The mirror did only what it had done for, presumably, hundreds of years: it watched.
